Getting to know what matters to my neighbors...

If you were in Congress, what are the most important policies you'd want to enact?

What are you most disappointed with about the way the government has been handling things lately (during both the Trump years and the Biden years)? What are you happy with or hopeful about?

Would really appreciate sincere answers 🙏🏻 I'm a bit of hermit so started to wonder how similar or different I am to other folks in my area. Thank you.

Optometrist or Opthalmologist covered by VSP you like?

I have been in analysis paralysis for months. Almost tempted to schedule an appointment with my old one in another state while visiting. The biggest issue is worsening vision, but there are cholesterol deposits in my eyes that should be looked at again too. I'm closest to Silverdale, but willing to go to another city in the county if it's worth it, like Port Orchard or Poulsbo or whatever.

Is That the Plan, Make Voting Harder?

Washington’s signature-verified mail-in voting system already works. Yet, from local pilot projects to state initiatives like IL26-126 and federal executive orders, a coordinated push is underway to add ID and citizenship layers. While these proposals pitch "security," their actual result is predictable: more bureaucracy, more friction, and fewer people voting.

Get involved, make a difference. https://www.electjimpierson.com/post/is-that-the-plan-make-voting-harder

Kids Music Experience, Lawn Concert?

I grew up out of the area and had some great experiences as a kid. Now with kids of our own who are getting to be old enough to sit through a performance I'm looking to give them some experiences too.

I'm looking for some of the experiences I had as a kid but it doesn't seem to be a thing here in Western WA, is that true? Or Am I just searching for the wrong areas/words?

- local community college (still 1.5 hr drive from home) had an outdoor theater. Sold theater seats and lawn seats. My family would always buy the lawn seats. I think I was 10 when they did The Sound of Music and sang while coming down through the audience.

- outdoor concert arena that also sold lawn seats. Mom would take us kids. We got to hear a small rock band, country, even a classical concert one time. (They STILL do this it's about $30/ea now days).

A nice thing about lawn tickets is your not confined to a small seat, it's okay to have the wiggles. It's okay to dance with the music a bit wild as you're discovering what you like about music and how your body moves.

Parade routes

Wouldn't it be way smarter to idk make it so the route loops back to the businesses instead of it going into the residential areas? Could go down warren the whole way, turn down 11th, then go back up Pacific. Idk, crazy concept 🤷🏻‍♀️

Where can a guy find a nice hat around here?

Seriously, the only hat shop I’ve found is all the way over at Pike’s Place and the men’s department is minimal. I don’t want baseball caps. Where can I get a good straw or felt fedora? Preferably of the pork pie variety. Cowboy hats have appeal as well. Tired of wondering if the ones on Amazon will fit or feel right and hat shopping is fun af!

Anyone ready for fried chicken?

I welcome "Eat local" and "Support small businesses" responses. But please make recommendations rather than just complaining.

Ants

Why are the ants SO freaking terrible this year?

They are the ants that have a dollar store soap smell if you squish them, which we try to avoid. So far since January we have

- sprayed the outside of the house with Ortho twice

- sprayed ortho on baseboards inside

- put out two different types of ant bait

But we are still finding them!

They are so freaking persistent. If we find several we have even tried to spray the area (if cooking/eating surface it's food safe and fully cleaned before use, if another type than Ortho)

This evening I sat down for a rest in the living room

We don't allow any food in the bedrooms or living room due to small children. After 20 ish minutes I found one crawling on my arm.
