Any reliable and affordable mobile mechanics in the Bremerton/Port Orchard area who are Honda enthusiasts?

We have a 1999 Civic that is sitting on our property. My husband is really attached to it and has already put a lot of time, parts, and money into it in the past few years.

We can’t afford a new car, and it would be ideal to get this one up and running again. The last place we took it to charged almost $2000 to fix it, it actually ran alright for a few weeks, but then it wouldn’t start (again) —and they refused to warranty their previous work on it, claiming it was a different problem than before. But also refusing to keep working on it to diagnose it, because they couldn’t figure out the problem. So we were out $2000 a few months later and back where we started.

More than anything, we are really in need of an inexpensive reliable, running car and it seems like fixing what we’ve got might be the best option.

TLDR: Looking for an honest mobile mechanic who knows a lot about old Hondas.

I want to declutter some plants (due to space), but they are special because they originated from a cousin that died

I have a bunch of plants in my kitchen, which is the only room in our house with natural light for growing plants. There are many jade plants and succulents. The plants were all babies, grown and repotted from plants that my cousin gave me just before she died. So I’m having a hard time considering giving them away to anyone who won’t care for them properly. I don’t want them to die. It would feel much better if I knew the plants were going to “the right people” who are good with plants.

I know I’m overly emotionally attached because of who the plants came from. However, at the same time, I really need to clear the space in the room, since my husband and I have plans to move things around. The plants have become the main obstacle for rearrangement of the space and are kind of taking over.

Any advice for giving the plants away but ensuring that they will go to good plant caregivers? I’m having a hard time separating my feelings from this practical decision.

I have to go to a BRCA screening test tomorrow

What happens? Is it just a blood draw or is there more that happens at this type of screening?

My doctor wants to test me for the gene, in order to know more about not only my BC risk, but also how to proceed with future treatments (hormone prescriptions, etc.)

I’m trying to teach my 82-year-old mom how to attach documents to an email from across the country and I could use some video tutorial suggestions

I live across the country from my mother, who was recently widowed. Lately, there have been many times when she needs to scan and send documents via email, but it is so confusing for her. I try to talk her through it on the phone or through FaceTime, but is just not getting through to her. We keep going through the process over and over, and she stays completely overwhelmed and bewildered by computer basics. She is capable of retaining the information and has a good memory, but I think that she is so intimidated by anything on a computer that the information immediately gets forgotten.

I could really use some good video tutorial suggestions for helping her attach a document from her scanned document folder on her PC into a Gmail. I also thought about writing down the steps, in addition to that.

Our plums and blackberries are pretty tart this year. Will the jam still turn out ok? I usually make a blackberry-plum combo.

I’m planning on using my usual Sure-Gel and sugar method which I’ve done for years, but the plums and blackberries are so tart this year. I’m afraid of wasting a bunch of time and money on supplies if it all comes out really sour. Will it still be tasty if the plums and berries were a a little sour? Even with the added sugar?

I had to pick my plums right at the beginning of the blush to try to avoid the bugs/larva that take over. The plums are ripening in bags in my kitchen. The flesh is getting soft and the skins are turning the usual pretty reddish color. They’re just not as sweet as usual. This has been a mild and cool summer where I live.

Have any of you made decent jam with plums and berries that aren’t as sweet as usual?

Thanks for the advice.

Looking for a sport loop replacement band for my older Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen

I’m fine with a good quality Amazon knockoff, but the main thing is that I can’t have any metal pieces on it that touch my skin (metal allergy).

My watch is still going strong, but the band is looking a little ragged.

Also, how do you all clean your fabric sport loop bands?

Receiving attachments in iCloud Mail, but can’t open/view/forward them

I searched for an answer to this in the group, but didn’t see anything recent or relevant to my situation.

I have been receiving some emails with attachments, that I need to view and forward, but I can’t do anything with them. I can download them to my files , but even after downloading I still can’t open them, view them, or forward them. They just look greyed out and are labeled as “data”. If I click “open with” it says no apps are available to open it.

Is there an app I am supposed to install to make attachments in my mail viewable? I downloaded the Adobe app, but I don’t know if it’s connected properly to my mail, or if it even helps in this situation.

Please help.

Does “Gold” always mean Yukon gold?

The bin price tag says Yukon Gold, but the bag just says Gold (no other description on the bag.
Does Gold generally mean Yukon Gold potatoes? I passed up buying some potatoes yesterday at a different store because I wanted Yukon and it was the same thing…the bag said “gold potatoes”.

I’ll need to go across the country soon (one of my parents is entering hospice care; I need to be there) and I’m looking for a place to board my nice (but sometimes fearful) 10-year-old lab mix for about 5-6 days. We can’t really afford $100/day price.

Any recommendations for an affordable boarding place where my dog will be treated kindly? I don’t want a person coming to my house…looking for a place to take my dog to be boarded for 6 days.

Thanks in advance.

My spouse loves crinkle fries and for his birthday, he’s craving a diner style experience with the crunchy crinkle fries with a (veggie or fish) burger and maybe a slice of pie for dessert. We also love old fashioned burger grill joints.

The catch is that they would need to have a vegetarian or pescatarian option, since we don’t eat beef or chicken.

Any suggestions for diner/old fashioned places you love in the county that have really great fries and a slice of pie?
