Series that started out good but got indefinitely worse
Sometimes tv series/anime/manga etc. start out pretty strong with much more story to tell. But for some reason, the quality drops so hard that they just vanish from pop culture, with many of the later seasons not being mentioned ever again. Spoilers ahead of course.
Edit: Title should say "infinitely worse"
- Komi can't communicate
Over the course of several hundred chapters readers learned to love the quirky characters of this manga (except for one...) and the slow but sweet progression of Komis and Tadanos relationship. But nearing the end of the manga, the author has the brilliant idea to reintroduce Tadanos first love Rami Kawai, who becomes a fan hated staple and third wheel to the relationship for the rest of the manga, even living together with Komi in the end.
- The promised Neverland
While the manga had its own problems, it was a tight story with interesting characters that grew and developed over time and an incredibly thrilling atmosphere. The anime however, after a strong first season, decided to skip most of the manga and basically go directly to the final arc with an alternative ending. The probably most beloved arc, Goldy Pond, was completely skipped while being the perfect showcase of what made this manga great.
- Heroes
While Heroes does not have such a sudden drop in quality as the first two examples, it still wasted so much potential. After season one everything went slowly, but steadily downhill. Somehow, seemingly dead characters are alive again. Powercreep happens a lot just for the solution to be amnesia or mysterious illnesses. The cast also grew bigger and bigger with the story becoming thinner and thinner at the same time.
Saw this on X/Twitter, could be Season 3!?
Could it be could it be hidden at season 3+?
My Thoughts
As a huge fan of "Komi Can't Communicate" and having to deal with issues similar to hers, I'm proud to say I found this manga series really relatable and amazing. The details, the story line, the restrictions.
A bit of how I find this series relatable:
My social anxiety started around 2019~2020 due to Coronavirus hitting the USA. We had to do online school for months, and I wasn't able to see my friends for the entirety of 5th grade. I was in my house all the time, and found interest in books, resulting into my interest in manga. When I cam across this series, I loved it from the first chapter. Oda-san did a really amazing job with this series, and I even bought their guide on how to make friends without scaring people.
I love "Komi Can't Communicate" from the bottom of my heart.
I have no spoilers for this manga in particular, because I want you guys to read it for yourself and have your own reactions once you read it.
Little something i drew
I know they are not that great art - wise , just some stickers and emoji material I guess 😐
I don't know much about this show, but where can I watch season 2?
reddit.comGuys I have a plan
you know that season 3 of Komi can’t communicate not coming BUT if the manga starts the anime maybe can start by the reson to publish the manga so more people read it and then we get a season 3.
is this the thing guys?
should I read the manga?
I finished the anime a bit of time ago and I was thinking if I should read the manga or wait for a 3rd season (but Idk if we will ever get one). I ask cuz Ik that the manga is long and as a 16yo student I dont have much money to spend
Kendo just saw your most recent photo in your camera roll, what is it?
I also want to quickly apologise for an AI slop post i made earlier, i did not realise it was AI to begin with, its my fault and it wont happen again!
AI Episodes?
I know this might break moral responsibility, however can we form a team and complete the anime ourselves using AI? Not for commercial but for completeness?
We have all been long waiting for a season 3 but that is not happening, so why not make it happen ourselves?
Edit : never thought a strong backlash would sorta make me happy. I appreciate the love of art this community carries! Thanks for this teachable moment !
