Isn't this early?

I know season 3 is base one LN 5/6 so why is the locust swarm showing up in the trailer? When the locust plague doesn't come up till LN10.

LN 5/6 is mostly about the White Lady

Question about Lakan & the Madam of the Verdigris House

I'm rewatching the anime with my husband & he just asked a question that I've wondered about as well. Why did the Madam try to keep Lakan from buying Fengxian? He tells the Madam that he's willing to pay whatever. She keeps trying to get him away from Fengxian & to go back & buy one of the other courtesans. It's not until Meimei intervenes, that the Madam backs off. Is the Madam worried that if he buys Fengxian out it will damage the Verdigris House because it will become publicly known that a syphilitic patient was being cared for on the brothel's property? (I don't know if it actually was a secret that Fengxian was being cared for there, so I could be way off with this.) Or is it a more personal reason (i.e. the Madam still holds a grudge against him for what happened to both Fengxian & Verdigris House when Fengxian got pregnant)? It's clearly not an issue of money.

I have searched this sub (so if the question has been asked & answered I simply missed it in my search), watched the anime several times, read the light novels & the Nekokurage manga & I cannot figure out an answer to this question.

Summaries of the light novels?

Last year I was on a rampage and I read most of the light novels available during 2-3 months until then (light novel 15).

I'm now going to purchase and read light novel 16 but as it's been almost a year since I stopped reading the story, I want to do a little refresh of the novels before diving in.

Do you know any good summaries or content creators (long- or short-form videos, podcast, podcast or human-made articles/post) that cover them?

About the LN English translations.

I'm reading the LN, currently on #12, and lately I have been seeing posts and comments about Kevin and the English translations (seemingly very grave) problems, and I have no idea what is going on. What is going on?

LN7 Ch8 wait, since when does she know...?

Maomao wonders if Jinshi knows the secret of his own birth, but I don't remember her ever learning the secret? She had speculations, sure, but Maomao is careful not to mistake speculation for fact. The reader's certain knowledge of the secret comes from a chapter told from Ah-Duo's perspective. Am I missing something??

Which side are you on?

Personally, I'm on team Jinmao, but Basen × Lishu are still goated.

SPOILERS UP TO LN 12

Edit: DON'T TAKE THIS POST SERIOUSLY! THIS IS JUST SOME STUPID IDEA I HAD. JUST A METAPHORICAL BATTLE FOR WHICH SHIP GETS TO BE THE FAN FAVORITE! 😭

Why is Kevin still translating the LNs into english?

Basically the question. It seems to be a well-known fact that he makes serious errors and mistranslations. Particularly the ending of LN5 which completely distorts one of the most important scenes in the whole story. Has there ever been any public pressure to have him dropped or acknowledgement from the publishers regarding his mistranslations?

Which scene made u cry?

Hi guys, I just thought about the LN series.

Was there a scene that actually made u cry?

For me, it was the scene with the Emperor, Ah-Duo, Jinshi, and Maomao where Jinshi said he cannot hold a special bird in a cage. Tears just rolled out of my eyes. I remember thinking that's a breakup scene and couldn't believe what was happening.

You need to know I was never a reader type. Actually I just "read" books bc of school. Just once in the COVID time, and even then I didn't read till the end. So I was very surprised how hyper-fixated I got to the LNs and even my reading pace got faster.

Anyways I love how the book changed my feelings about reading that I actually got emotional.

What about u?

What Did You Analyze/Think of MaoMao’s Speech Towards Jinshi? (LN7C18)

Prefacing this by saying that this is not criticism for MaoMa

So, MaoMao remarks in her speech that Jinshi is a hypocrite and refrains from being straightforward with her. I believe the entire speech is supposed to be MaoMao’s way of doing a “gotcha” moment with Jinshi because he brought up that she had a “disagreement” with Luomen. But this didn’t work at all.

The restraint is obviously because of his position as Crown Prince. In the first chapter of LN7 ,the book made it clear that Empress Gyokuyou, the Emperor and Jinshi are the 3 people that are basically impossible to refuse. If Jinshi declares that MaoMao would be his wife, she’d be wed. He refuses to do this because he wants MaoMao to be comfortable and not force her affections. Furthermore, her story about the man and the brothel tells us that she knows Jinshi’s feelings already. She’s not unaware of his feelings. She’s not unaware that his social standing comes with certain circumstances. That’s the entire reason why she was calling his junior a frog, and turns pale after he says directly “I will make you my wife.”

I think she wasn’t planning on him to say it directly but Jinshi isn’t afraid or unaware of his feelings. So he said it. The thing that gets me is she doesn’t even object to being his wife, she turns pale because of the political consequences it could have on her, Jinshi and others. So I’m wondering if that was just a frustration point and then she quickly realized that she can no longer pretend to be in the dark about Jinshi’s feelings.

Also side bar but him saying I will remove every obstacle is so romantic. But anyways, let me know what you guys think MaoMao was possibly trying to do here.
