A bit of a rant, need to know if I am crazy.

TLDR: insanely disorganized store making me want to pull my damn hair out 2 months in. (I was wanting to quit the first week!) This post was flagged for the HR rule when I tried to submit, I am not really looking for that type of help, just need to rant to people who may understand.

Transferred to a new store full time in Minnesota, and its a mess. They have no meetings whatsoever. no food, leadership or LTL meetings, and just lie that they do on the Ipad to avoid getting in trouble. Nonstop talking over the headset about random shit not work related to the point where people have to take them out or have volume so low. I am not one to care about language or iffy topics, but swearing and disgusting jokes over the headset in front of customers is just bleh. Its not unheard of for someone to forget to turn theirs off and someone calling a customer a dumbass over the headset doesnt need to be blasted over the whole store. It hasnt happened yet, but Im guessing it will.

5+ years of this I am done. I been with KT for 5 years, this is my 2nd month at this new store. I want out. I also have a bitchy coworker who I am afraid I am going to snap at. I have told management from the first day, and all I got was "its being worked on".

The most disorganized store that relies on signs to communicate, no one has a routine, ect. It is very busy as well.

I had to leave my old store because I no longer live close. I wish I didnt have to, I want to quit so badly. I dont want to miss out on a good bonus either. I was so set to pursue management at my old store, so this sucks. I do not wish to transfer anywhere else in the area, as they deal with theft, ect.

I just need validation that this isnt how a store should be ran. My boyfriend says i should stick out till bonus, i broke down friday after work for hours just so mentally drained. I know I need to grow up and deal, but God I want to be happy!!!

Cannot believe one store has not only made me do a 180 on my feelings about my job, but I also have a newfound appreciation for meetings. Please for the love of God lets get everyone on the same damn page!!!!

Just gonna talk about my experience after replying to a post asking about it

So, I wanted to speak about my experience so far before I go to work. I’ve been working for about half a year now. And so far it’s been okay, that’s the most I can truly say, I started in January and with my location, I can draw to the conclusion that my location only gets busy around like, late June, July and maybe early August, that’s my big guess since my location is at a tourist town. Then the rest of the year might not be that busy, I asked coworkers and leaders and they said that’s pretty much it.

I’ve been working 2nd shift on chicken but I also do 1st on chicken as well and they trained me on hot food for like, one day and that was a 1st shift. So I only worked around food and that was because of my experience before working at KT and personal preference. And it’s been okay, just repetitive and it can burn me out at times. I would say I’m a good worker, I always get my chicken dishes done, I cambro chicken when needed and when I know I have time to. Truck is so so, I help when I know I can help but I don’t have it as top priority due to my shifts. My pros are firstly just what the job offers, I get a good pay with my previous experience, the benefits are something good to rely on, and my coworkers haven’t given me a reason to dislike them yet. Cons are the KPS system being so damn irritating whether it’s asking for stuff past the time you are shutting down or asking for items that either aren’t available yet or are outside of the day they usually sell. Doesn’t help that my district leader wants 75 percent compliance when our last percentage of compliance was 71, I had a similar issue with waste when they said that there were “wasted opportunities”.

I will update this when a full year passes and notify yall if it stayed the same or not but my current conclusion is: my location at least has been good, it isn’t terrible but I can’t say it’s perfect, scheduling is rough due to a change in store leader so I need to talk to my new store leader. This location has been good and I hope it stays like that because I’d rather not transfer and or quit my job.

If yall have any questions or thoughts I’d be willing to answer them in my own time, since I do like being informed on other people’s experiences as like everyone else, I hate how corporate KT is being, especially with Chicken Drives, they make me wanna take a bath in the fryer

Note: this is simply me talking about my experience, I am aware this isn’t HR, if I did have problems that required HR, I would contact them in a heartbeat

Would you have a problem with me taking a drink of water from a coffee cup before filling with coffee?

a lot of times when I get coffee, I first fill the cup with water and take a few chugs from it. then I fill with coffee and pay for it. I just do this to get extra hydration in

Accidentally kicked out a guest.

So every time a guest with opposing sports wear comes in, gophers, Iowa, vikings, michigan colleges, and especially the bears, I’ll make a joke and say I shouldn’t serve them with a chuckle or that they have a stain on their shirt etc. One time I had an older gentlemen not laugh or say something else in retaliation and it was an Iowa football shirt and hat. The other 100+ times they have been friendly or with banter. Today after a 10 hour shift I helped a guest and said I couldn’t serve him because of his University of Michigan shirt and hat, matching set, and I did a slight laugh, whatever it was, and he goes “welp 🤷‍♂️” and walks straight out. I am known as the talkative and friendly guy that never has issues with guests. I was star shocked and can’t believe it. I feel bad but maybe he was playing to the bit and I respect that. I guess thats a W for the Badgers though.

Super funny since I got screamed at by the town delinquent in the same month.

Honesty hotline

I’m up because I cannot sleep. My boss keeps scheduling me on days I have in red under unavailable. And refusing to let me use my vacation time on any of said days off. What do I do? Thinking of using this honesty hotline

Heard.

We hit last years numbers this period, profits are up. The way it was brought up was in a very positive light, perhaps we maybe get 15/16%+ this year?

Food options: alternative diets

Just a question and something I have wondered about: Years ago, probably 10 plus I remember a Kwik trip having more options suitable for vegetarians and possibly other diets. I know you can order some of these items but it's nice to get on the sale days.

They always had veggie pizza, cheese pizza etc. Items like large pretzels were common, now very rare. There are a ton of KTs here and I never see this anymore. Not a huge deal but I have noticed the ones here only have supreme meat type pizza for example. Even the frozen options are meat only.

My office building alone would be going so much more but most people don't buy these items here.

I get the store is Wisconsin based but I think their sales would go through the roof if they had more items that weren't entirely meat based (at least here). Years ago everyone was buying these and going nearly every day! Has the corporate office researched this? It would also be cheaper to make.

Kitchen uniforms

so when i first got hired i was told i can wear a jacket as long as its black and ive been at KT for about 1 month and just now they told me i can’t wear non KT branded jackets/hoodies in the kitchen. is it just me or is it kinda bs we gotta pay $40 for a hoodie so we aren’t cold? like damn i gotta just thug it it out i guess😭 and before any of you go saying im broke, yes your right i get $300 checks on the dot every 2 weeks so spending $40 on jacket isn’t reasonable for me right now i guess😐😭😭

"GSL Meeting"

My ASLs recently told me that I've been scheduled for a GSL meeting but they didnt give much more detail than that. Does anyone have any insight to what it is and what it means? The meeting is in July.

Old uniforms for free!

I just quit and I’d like to give away some of my old uniforms if anyone is interested. Women’s small sizes available in the Oshkosh, WI area.

I’m most interested in giving to newer coworkers who haven’t yet gotten their uniform allowances!

I have some women’s short sleeve shirts, one long sleeve shirt, one cardigan, and five pairs of Lands End slacks. From a smoke-free home, items have small signs of wear but are in good condition with no large stains ☺️
