Former LA Spark and Washington Mystic Heidi Ann Horton (née Burge) is dead. (November 12, 1971 - October 5, 2026) She was 54.
If you remember the Disney Channel Original Movie about twins playing basketball, Double Teamed, Poppi Monroe (left) played Heather Burge and Annie McElwain (right) played Heidi Burge.

In the WNBA, she was drafted to the Los Angeles Sparks in 1997 and then traded to the Washington Mystics in the following season in 1998. Injuries plagued both sisters and they never played with or against each other in their unfortunately short WNBA career. In USA Basketball, Heidi Burge was named to the USA team for the 1993 World University Games competition in Buffalo, New York. The team had a 6–2 record and won the bronze medal. Burge averaged 4.4 points per game.
Another fun fact, the twins held the Guinness World Record as the world's tallest female twins from 1991 to 2004 at 6'5". Ann Recht and Claire Recht at 6'7".
Heidi was diagnosed with Grade 4 glioblastoma cancer on October 17, 2025. She succeeded in battling the cancer to temporary remission through tumor resection, radiation, and chemotherapy, along with other therapies. The tumors returned in July 2026, and she entered palliative care in September. She died with family and friends present. Heidi Ann Horton (née Burge) is survived by her husband Patrick, twin sister Heather Marie Quella (née Burge), son Jonathan, and daughter Holly.
