Please do not say things that have the potential to get your subreddit account banned (and banned from this subreddit in general).

Sometimes, fans of teams will say things that come off as negative about their team. Maybe they're giving their sense of being realistic, maybe they are frustrated with their team, maybe they will think it doesn't make sense to have optimism when your team is doing poor. There are many situations in which someone will say something in their sense of reality.

This doesn't mean that someone is against their team, a traitor, or some sort of awful human being who should be told to self-exit (using this term to avoid my post being removed by Reddit).

A sports opinion doesn't warrant a death threat, wishing death or harm on someone, and other hateful things. Your comment will be removed by Reddit. Your account will get a warning. You could get banned from Reddit as a whole. And you will be banned from this subreddit. GET A FUCKING GRIP AND BE MORE RESPECTFUL!

In all sports, athletes get paid more than us to essentially exercise. They aren't super offended by opinions of a team's probability of success. You do not need to defend their honor by wishing self-exits on people.

And if this isn't something you can comprehend, in the words of one of my favorite creators, Tony Weaver Jr., GO GET SOME THERAPY!

Caitlin Clark, although she said it late, has condemned her fans from bullying and harassing people in her name. What makes you think the New York Liberty want their fans to tell people to shut down permanently? I wouldn't be here to help with this subreddit if my attempts worked and if the people who told me to self-exit kept telling me to do so.

Edit to title: Reddit account. Damn. I messed up a good moment.

When planning a story, the focus should be more on the content and not the length. (Giving)

Recently there was a post asking about the possibility of reading a strory between 100 - 120 chapters. While writing that many chapters is admirable, trying to plan a specific number of chapters is going to stress you out. Planning for a specific word count could be counterproductive.

Your best bet is to plan the contents of what you want in your story and go about it that way. If your objective is to plan a specific amount, you might run out of ideas. It is best to plan out your ideas. It is also okay if you don't make a longfic. Some stories that are really good are on the short to mid range. Some are even one shots.

Post Flair Changes

Someone had asked for a Writing Activities flair; and since we have something similar, we might as well just add "Activities" to the prompts, challenges, and ideas flair; which again, anyone can use. Even if you don't have a challenge made for AO3. Here is an example. Some people may just want people to do some practice thing in the comments, which is okay and always welcome. We always appreciate the new ideas that you writers have. This is your subreddit just as much as it is the creator's subreddit.

Second, I added "and/or Giving" to the Seeking Advice flair because it is possible that some people might want to give out advice that some people might need without knowing it.

Time to give out grades for players and teams!

Don't forget to add a user flair. You can edit them to say what you want. Comments from people without a user flair will get automatically removed. Some sports subreddits have a thing where they try to get people to use flairs, and we're trying to get more team representation around here.

It's a new month. Let's see what you thought.

How do you think your team did last month? What were some things your team did well? What were some things your team didn't do well? How do you think the team can improve?

If your appeal is only to a player or players, how do you think they did? What do you think they did well on? What do you think they didn't do well on? What could they improve on?

Or, if you're a neutral, give your unbiased opinion.

I changed the post flair that said "Update on my Story" to "Self-Promotion" as a means of being more direct and for ease of phrasing.

I think calling it "Self-Promotion" will make more sense having it phrased that way as I think it will help newer member see that this subreddit has self-promo available for free whenever one wants; especially since that was my intent with this post flair to begin with.

As always, keep enjoying, keep sharing, and don't be too hard on yourself. I know it isn't much, but I also handed out a bunch of upvotes on each of the posts that I changed the flair for. I know it's just +1, but I hope that gives you all some encouragement.

Also, we're at 7,337 members as I type this up at 1:38 AM Central! But I'm scheduling this for later. This will be visible on noon Eastern.

This will also serve as a reminder for me to post a meme that I made that I have been forgetting about.

EDIT: 7,368 when this post came out

Some housekeeping for this subreddit.

I know the most recent post here riled up some members, so I want to set the record straight on what we do and don't allow regarding the situation. Let's see how the most recent post was.

Rule 1: We do allow trash talk as long as it doesn't cross the line of trolling, brigading, baiting, pestering, being argumentative, attempting to force your opinion, being dismissive, etc. That post was fine in that regard. 🟩

Rule 5: We do allow memes as long as they're not excessively offensive. That post brought up something that pissed off another athlete, but it was trash talk. However, with the history of the two players, some think it was pushing something. So this is a yellow area.🟨

Rule 7: We do not allow AI-generated posts. That post was an AI-generated image.🟥

We removed it because it was an AI-generated image. And yes, blowing a confrontation out of proportion can be annoying; and on the other hand, you might think it's funny what a player did. However, AI images are weird and against the subreddit's rules anyway. The most recent post that was deleted did not break the first rule. It might've teetered on the fifth, but it ultimately broke the seventh.

You can do better trash talk than an AI-generated image on Facebook made by some Boomer.

We'll now have custom reports when reporting posts and comments.

We have realized that some of the report reasons do not fit the issue that is being reported despite the reported post or comment breaking a subreddit rule. However, this subreddit is still very well-behaved, so the 7,310 of you who aren't mods should take pride in that fact. (Obviously, if you add us moderators and bots, it's 7,315).

Since it's hard to tell exactly what is being broken or why you are reporting, we will allow this. When you report something, under "Breaks r/FanficAuthorsUnite rules", you can now pick "Custom response" to specify exactly why you think something should be removed. Please don't abuse this.

Overall, we hope you're enjoying your time in this subreddit. I can't wait to go past 8,000 members!

How many works in progress do you think you could work on at once?

This isn't advice for anything. It is just out of curiosity.

For reference, I am in the process of publishing a story from one fandom (Victorious) and working on a story from another fandom that follows the canon, but diverges a bit to fit the narrative for a ship (Naruto); and as I go through the canonical parts by rewatching the show again, I know I will likely work on even more stories because I have, so far, 4 different stories planned in that fandom, which could mean that I could potentially work on 5 at a time if I am going through the show and watching the episodes to get my inspiration. Of course, it would be just me going through the episodes and then taking bits of the episodes and putting them in the respective stories if I see the stuff can go to my stories that are fix-it fics.

So this thought brings me to my question in the title.

Ways to try to combat writer's block/me updating my story

So I haven't been writing in a while because I had writer's block. But I finally managed to get something published.

The last time I had writer's block, some of the daily prompts made by our most recently added mod helped me be able to get my creative juices to flow. And before I updated my current long story, I was at a pause. I had worked on another WIP that I have been dealing with and then some ideas started coming to my head.

Sometimes, you might just need to write something else so you can get your brain to write something you want to write. I think it opens creative pathways. Like how logic puzzles can help with other things.

Anyway, this is a contiuation on my Victorious story.
