Refuse the renewal of flock cameras in Lafayette.

Refuse the renewal of flock cameras in Lafayette.

It hasn’t done anything to stop drag racing, it wasn’t of any use when I was rear ended last month by someone on there phone, and I hear now they wish to share this info to private companies, enough is enough.

Poor mobile coverage in Lafayette: what's the deal?

How long has this been like this bad? Has this come up in city council meetings? We are surrounded by tech corridor cities and yet there are flat-out DEAD zones all over... what's the deal?

Stop Flock Protest next Tuesday

Tuesday August 18th 5-6pm at your nearest Flock camera location. You can find one conveniently close to you via DeFlock.org.

Bring signs, do not vandalize the cameras, just show up and exercise your first amendment right to advocate for your privacy.

A private company collects the location history of every vehicle in Lafayette, and throughout the country with a network of over 80,000 cameras. Each tagging the location, plate, car info, saved and searchable in a database by any user with access. No warrant, no FOIA requests to verify ethics or compliance, no regulation on security of the data, use, or sale and distribution of the history of all our movements.

Cat with Collar in Romero Park

There is a cat with white, and gray and black striping with a white collar in the field by Lafayette Elementary/Geometry Park/Romero Park. She could be an outside cat, but wanted to make sure! Didn’t see any tags when I got up close.

Religion / Spirituality /community (Thought Experiment)

I’m curious about a thought experiment and would love your honest reactions.

Imagine there were a place in your community that was “church-shaped” in some ways. It offered regular opportunities to gather, celebrated life’s milestones, supported people through hard times, encouraged service, explored life’s big questions, and fostered genuine community- but it wasn’t centered on everyone sharing the same beliefs or creed.

Instead, people from many different backgrounds, beliefs, philosophies, spiritual paths…and people who don’t consider themselves religious or spiritual at all…could genuinely belong.

If a place like this existed:
• What need in your life, if any, would you hope it could meet?
• What would make you feel like you genuinely belonged?
• What would be a red flag that would keep you from coming back?

If you’re willing, I’d also love to know your approximate age cohort (Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X, Boomer, etc.).

If you already know of a place like this, I’d love to hear about it. I have a few specific communities in mind, but I’m intentionally leaving them unnamed because I’m more interested in people’s reactions to the idea, and what a community like this would need to truly welcome and support people, than in discussing any particular organization.

The Pat and Gar Hi-Way Bar sign

A good read... even though I actually don't share the perspective of this Substack author on this issue (though I usually do agree with Karen and Vicky): while I do think this is a cute quaint mural, I don't think it has such exalted importance that resources should be put into restoring it.

However, I think Council's preference--that it should be a rotating series of modern-day murals, with a 70 year old Pat and Gar header--is even less appealing: feels fakey-fakey, and the Waneka Lake underscores that. I actually think we have a lot of murals in Lafayette, and we can just let entropy (which has its own beauty) naturally occur to the Pat and Gar mural. Thoughts?

Relocating to Boulder County - Looking for Buyer’s Agent Feedback

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure whether this is the right sub for this, but I thought local firsthand experience might be helpful.

I’m currently living in Aspen and previously spent some time in Denver. I liked Denver, but Boulder feels more in line with what I’m looking for now. A smaller community, easy access to the outdoors, and still enough going on year-round.

I came across Eric Farran while researching local agents online. Has anyone here worked with him, especially as a buyer relocating from another part of Colorado?

I’d really appreciate any firsthand feedback about his communication, knowledge of Boulder neighborhoods and nearby communities, remote showings, inspections, negotiations, and how well he explains local issues to someone who doesn’t know the area yet.

My budget is roughly $900,000 to $1.2 million, and I’m also considering nearby communities such as Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, and Superior.

Thanks for any insight.
