Why does the r/ozarks reddit hate the lake so much?

Im from cincinnati went out here for the 4th last year and im doing it again because I had a blast. Fun bars fun people laid back and a big party all at once. No bullshit just people of all ages looking to drink and party. Paradise for a guy like me. But I noticed on the ozarks reddit people throw a fit if the lake is mentioned in any way. Like I get it the locals may not go there but I dont see why they hate it. In cincinnati I avoid the banks downtown but I dont hate anyone for going there. Just curious as to why. Im asking here because I know if I ask their im getting downvoted to oblivion lol

Whats porkys/nightmoves like?

I am sorry if this post is not allowed im gonna keep it as PG-13 as I can. Im going to lake ozark for the 4th of July second year in a row. Love the area had a blast last year. I saw porkys/night moves advertised and it looks like a place where I can people watch and get some funny stories. Also its open after every thing else closes so thats a plus if I want to keep the party going. All I want to know is it's it currently open because online information is scarce. And what to expect inside. Thanks for any and all replies!!!

Lake of the Ozarks Help

I have a lake house near Osage Beach, my boat is currently broken and all of the large company mechanics are scheduled out until next week, this might be a long shot but would any more local mechanic to that area of Missouri be willing to come out and try to fix my boat. Willing to pay generously for your time and effort. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Bachelorette/Bachelor party next weekend (memorial day weekend)

Hi All,

I’m not sure this will gain much traction. I see this group isn’t super active but really hoping to get some input from you all!

I have a group of 17 people coming down near sunrise beach next week. We have an airbnb and we are renting boats for the saturday (may 23rd). It’s looking like the weather is going to be kinda chilly and it’s bumming me out. I’m just looking to see if you guys think it’ll still be bumping and super active next weekend despite how the weather is looking? and If swimming will even be possible?

Thanks in advance guys

Just a casual spring Saturday in the Midwest Powerboat Capital!

Headed home from a pre-mother’s day brunch, and found ourselves in the middle of a high speed poker run complete with chase chopper and camera crew. I love the Lake of the Ozarks!

What gyms do you like in the area?

So I'm kind of in a transitional stage of moving down here and it's became clear pretty fast that the normal planet fitness and club fitness gyms don't really exist around here. What gyms do you all prefer here? I currently have a broken foot , but am looking for something when I'm back on my feet. I regularly went to planet fitness and don't need anything super crazy like a ton of free weights. Something affordable would be great too, thanks!

Pontoon rental in Porto Cima

Pier at the rental

Heading to Lake of the Ozarks this summer and staying in Porto Cima. Looking to rent ideally a 15 passenger pontoon/tritoon from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon that allows overnight docking at our rental house. We’re slightly tucked in off the main channel, but I’m curious how concerned we should be about overnight damage from wakes/weather if the boat is tied up overnight.

If a true 15 passenger setup is tough to find, we’d also consider a 12-13 passenger pontoon plus a jet ski.

Main priorities are:

  • close/easy to Porto Cima
  • good pricing
  • reliable boats
  • easy overnight setup

Any rental companies or peer-to-peer options you’d recommend (or avoid)?
