Sacred Symbols+, Episode 524 | Pathways into Darkness
>The studio that brought us Halo and Destiny has never been in a more precarious position than it is today. Lord Cognito and Chris Ray Gun unite to dissect the situation, from how it all began to when it all fell apart. Is it finally time to Seal the Hushed Casket?
Welp, would definitely be in the hospital and possibly dead .
I really need to get new tires on my electric skateboard. Had a pretty bad crash and hit my head very hard on the concrete. Luckily I was being watched over by the Sacred Symbols...
The foam inside is completely trashed, guess this will be an art piece... might have to reconsider being a middle-aged skater here soon...

Sacred Symbols, Episode 418 | Nevermind, These Are Horrid Times
>It seems that no matter where one looks in the gaming industry, there's bad news on the horizon. Such is certainly the case with Sony, as the Japanese company announced two pieces of bad news concurrent to one another: That beginning in 2028, PlayStation hardware will no longer receive disc-based releases, and that by next summer, you will no longer be able to buy digital PS3 and Vita games. All things considered, the latter is a more understandable decision (after all, Sony tried to do this back in 2021 before pulling back), but the former situation has set the PlayStation fanbase alight in a way we've not seen since perhaps 2011, if not 2006, both extremely ominous years in the brand's history. We discuss both topics in great detail, incorporate a ton of your inquiries, and try to make sense of what's happening from every conceivable angle. There's other news this week, too, including Sony's stance on hardware subsidies, PlayStation's continuing commitment to the games-as-a-service sector, new roster additions for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is Exodus' scrapping of its in-game character creator a sign of things to come? Why are some publishers and developers so secretive with sales figures? What potential ideas could emulate the interplay between EVE Online and Dust-514? Did Dustin answer the Dustin-signal that Colin sent into the atmospheric ether?
Dustin made an appearance in an Asmongold video
DustinCanMoonlight ?
Asmongold: ‘This is a great insight, I never thought about this before, but he’s right about this. That they maintain the higher prices for these games via digital copies, versus whenever you’re able to buy them on Blockbuster & you know the older games would go down to $15 anyways.
Dustin is very right about this.’

Defining Duke, Episode 287 | We're Tired, Boss...
>The bottom continues to fall out from the games industry. Approximately five impending studio closures was simply not enough. Here comes PlayStation who is shutting down their entire physical game operation. It's never been more clear than right now that many of us who have been gaming since the 90s are now truly considered "the old guard" as we continue to face off against staggering changes at a breakneck speed.
Football: USA vs. Belgium, Colin vs. Lock
Its gonna be epic! I want some proper trash talk, your momma jokes, etc.
Are we missing something about the disc less future coming in 2028?
Just had a thought - and feel free to correct me if I've missed something or am barking up the wrong tree here - with the physical media announcement stating specifically 2028, is this an indication of when the PS6 is getting pushed back till/is actually planned to be launched?
Because why would you release a new console which assumedly will either
a)launch with a feature set that takes this into consideration - no disc drive version for example, preemptively before this change comes into effect, or THEN change it in 2028 or
b) have to make a pretty fundamental change to how game purchasing options are for your customers of your brand new console just months maybe after launch (if it did in fact come out in 2027)
It feels like this is the kind of thing that you do with the launch of a new generation - like Xbox tried to do back in 2013, just they were apparently about 15 years to early lol

theverge.comPer Tom Warren: Microsoft Weighing Studio Closures at Arkane, Compulsion, Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs; Reportedly Wants Out of Marvel’s Blade
>I understand Microsoft is currently weighing closing at least five studios, including the developers behind Marvel's Blade. Sources tell me Microsoft wants to cancel Blade as part of a wave of cost cuts and job losses that are planned for the company's Xbox gaming division.
>Developed by France-based Arkane Studios, best-known for the Dishonored series, Blade was originally supposed to debut later this year according to sources familiar with the game's development. I'm told the internal ship date for the game slipped to late 2027, and it's also running over budget.
>While Microsoft is weighing canceling Blade, it's also exploring options to sell Arkane Studios. Bloomberg reported earlier this month that Microsoft is trying to spin off Compulsion Games, Double Fine, and Ninja Theory, too. GamesBeat reported this week that Microsoft is actively looking for a buyer for Undead Labs, the developers behind State of Decay. If buyers are found for these studios, then they'll avoid being closed, but sources stress these talks could take months in some cases.
