AP auto-attack tower damage modifier is using season 8 numbers instead of season 1-3

In season 8, Riot changed the AP tower damage to be 60% of AP. In the first three seasons, it was 40%. Tristana has 263 AP, so with the tower MR she should deal 75 magic damage, but she deals 111, which is what she would do with the modern numbers.

I knew that towers felt too weak for some reason while playing AP champs. This is most likely why.

Modern skins

12 hours ago we had the best so far league classic TSM vs CLG games, each player did not use cringe modern skins and instead they were insisted on choosing the ‘classic’ default skin since it’s probably because the players would love to see only classic skins being played on, therefore i don’t understand why the f we are not getting any response from any Riot’r regarding removing the modern skins or any additional information about that cringe pop star models.

Homeguards active level 1

This is disgusting. Homeguards gives you 36 MS level 1 that is almost full Berserker Greaves for everyone for free the entire game. Regular boots are only 25 MS, wtf is the point? It shouldn't be in the game period, but if they insist on it, it should be a buyable boot enchant like it was before, not free and level 1. That's just insane.

I think it would heighten the Classic experience if we went back to the old boots.

When I first played League of Legends the decision to buy boots was a significant contribution to wether or not you could win your lane. However, at some point they removed 25 movement from the boots and just buffed every champions movement by 25. I've always felt this was an unnecessary nerf and makes the choice to buy boots far less impactful. Would anyone else like to see this change reverted for Classic?

When 80% of the feedback posts are about skins, you know Riot made something good

lol classic is fun as hell. yes, there are legitimate gripes. some stuff is janky, modern skins can feel weird, whatever.

but it really feels like the game i fell in love with in like 2012. the builds are more fun, the champs are simpler - in a good way. it's awesome.

ignore the super doomer posts. i haven't played league this much in like 10 years. it's a blast.

Anyone encounter any easter eggs?

I noticed that a slide in Phreak's video mentioned "a lot of easter eggs", which got me curious. I checked the files, and found two things: a reference to Mundo's Shose Shop, and a stack of Sunfire Capes.

Mundo's Shose Shop: When buying multiple pairs of boots, you get a buff that gives you +1 movement speed per extra boot.

Stack of Sunfire Capes: After buying one Sunfire Cape, you unlock the ability to buy this Stack of Sunfire Capes item for 3000g. You're locked to buying only one, so you can only have a max of 2 sunfires.

Make modern skins toggleable

That's it. Let us opt in to seeing them.

Then the people who want to still have the new skins they bought can turn it on.

And those of us that actually care about integrity of the game can turn it off and not have to ever think about it again.

Not a single showmatch game above 30 minutes today

Last game ended in 23 minutes... Yeah... Seems like our feelings about game being too fast will turn out to be true and wasant just an PBE thing.

Games are basically lasting as long as modern league as this point.

Hope this will be corrected quickly enough, i think ppl will keep bored with classic if every game ends in 20 something minutes, in old league those kind of games were an exception, not the norm.

If Riot Won't Give Us a Toggle, I Hope the Community Does

I really don't understand why Riot keeps ignoring the modern champion model issue in League Classic.

The whole point of Classic is to relive the original game. The old gameplay, old map, old UI, and old champion models all go hand in hand.

At this point, if Riot isn't going to add a simple client-side toggle, I hope the community does. League has always had talented modders, and a client-side program that swaps modern models for the original ones would give people the authentic Classic experience without affecting gameplay or giving any competitive advantage.

I just want League Classic to actually look like League Classic. Is that really too much to ask?

LCS Showmatch was good to watch without modern skins

Watched today the 3 games we had in the LCS showmatch and this time players didnt pick any of the modern skins. It felt pretty enjoyable to watch this time (and not having the strange feeling I had watching the first showmatch) and see how old visuals fits and belongs to classic. Did anyone feel the same way while watching the matches today?

Do you guys want LeagueClassic to evolve or stay the same?

I get the feeling you guys just want league classic to be for fun and chilling around rather than it be a rival to modern league? Do you think LeagueClassic will beat modern league in esport?

LARGE pool of missing champions.

Has the LARGE pool of missing champions (a lot of whom are the one's people miss after the reworks) taken the hype out of anyone else's sails? List below

edit: Updated list (chatgpt missed a bunch the first go)

Major news and confirmation, ahead of release

Riot Phreak released a preview video on the launch patch. It's awesome and I recommend you watch it at: https://youtu.be/-wLj550BezE?si=3W32L-U61JsdG0Tt

If you don't have the time, I watched the whole thing and took notes of the main points. Here's the summary of what Phreak said, in the least amount of text possible.

Introduction/Philosophy (Most important part)

  • Recognized modern League is more of an action game while Classic, goes back to it's strategic roots. As a result, expect your decision making and knowledge to have a bigger impact, on the outcome of a match.
  • There will be no public data shared, such as win rates and other stats. The goal is to reintroduce the rpg side of the game, meaning you forge your own path/playstyle, while having less "hand holding" - you figure out what works and what doesn't through playing and testing.
  • Balancing nostalgia with an actual playable game for everyone that wants classic and, have fond memories of different moments in League.
  • Phreak confirmed this is a live service/permanent project, not a temporary game mode.
  • Reassured they know League Classic is supposed to be and stay different from modern league.
  • There are easter eggs, and many of them have not been found yet, on the PBE.
  • Built on modern engine -> harder to develop, easier to sustain.
  • Overall skepticism to release anything after season 3.
  • Expect content (including champs) to be released fast, although no specifics were given.
  • Phreak is responsible for game balance and will keep an eye out for long term power creep.
  • Boundaries that will be respected are no faster cooldowns, missile speeds, cast times, travel times and no mana cost reductions.

System

  • Runes mostly from season 4. Runes that were bad were buffed.
  • Masteries straight up season 3 + rally and promote inclusion.
  • All summoner spells.
  • Minions and tower straight up season 3 + minor buff to stats.
  • Jungle is from S3 but nerfed XP gain and included white camp. Need to kill the little guys in the jungle or respawn timer won’t start.
  • Items up until season 3 with a few exceptions from season 4.
  • Trinkets from pre-season 4 but you can’t pay gold to upgrade it**. Phreak considers the game worse with less vision**.
  • Baron buff from S5 but the buff to minions is reserved to the siege cannon (resists, ad, range). Goal is to close the game out faster, but open to discussion.
  • Information such as what a buff does, with values, now included in the tooltip. Info from the scoreboard can be pinged, equal to modern league.
  • Gold bounties from S3, catch-up XP unclear if it was tuned or not.
  • Everything else is from season 3.

Champions

  • Release champions until season 3, potentially early season 4.
  • Phreak didn’t clarify here if Yasuo, Lucian and Jinx will be released.
  • Rest of the video is Phreak going over each individual champion and their kit. It would take too long to cover everything and might not interest you but in general:
  1. If your champion has dashes/high mobility, has to be penalized somewhere else in the kit.
  2. Fighters are more auto attack heavy.
  3. Buffs from champs last substantially longer, when compared to modern.

Is there anything you hope won’t come back?

Like I get the whole “yay classic” thing. But is there anything you look back at and go “you know what… yeah it’s better that (thing) was removed from/ changed within the game”

I personally am curious to see how they deal with champions like Sona and Soraka who had a lot of invisible/ hard to quantify, power.

why not just sell skins for league classic?

its not like league didn't have skins in season 3, why not just make it so you can buy skins for the classic mode? add a discount if you own the live version of the skin, and maybe add some sneaky cross promotion by offering bundles of the live and classic skins.

it just looks strange to have the modern models in the game with the old ones

Once people get used to classic game length will plummet

Right now people are still used to live, so they dont really push after killing, they just reset. They also kinda wanna test out builds so they care more about finishing it over finishing the game. And they dont realize you do NOT need nashor buff to push whatsoever. Towers are reallyyyy weak and squishy. Hell, the backdoor protection isnt even remotely good you could take a tower with no minions. Ive had some games where people actually wanted to end and my god it was fast.

Snowball is strong, oneshots are easy. I'm not complaining to be clear, but when I see people who think "oh games wont be endable blablah gonna take an hour need a buffed nashor" I call haaard bullshit.

With optimal play, games are actually easier to close out than live imo. People will have fun for a while and have kinda long games, but when rankedQ comes in, LP is on the line and ppl get better, I'm calling for really short game times.

A lot of older VOs are in... With cut lines(maybe)?

I randomly queued up some taric today and immediately was met with his old voice, which made me really happy. Then he said "for a good time, call amber" which uhhh I don't think that was one of his original voice lines! He also makes some very suggestive grunts and moans while taking damage. I didn't really play taric until late s2 or early s3, but I don't remember either of those!

Sion also has his old VO, but I didn't play him at all so no idea if there's any new lines. Though, Sona still has the new voice lines, which I'm sad about.
