Headway Update

Another 10 dollar pay cut per client. This is ridiculous. And it's for EVERY appointment rather than a one time fee.

Leaving Headway

Hi all! I am hoping to get guidance on the experience of leaving Headway. I am appalled by the recent changes and am going to transition to private pay. For those of you who have left: How does the process work and how quickly does it happen? Any insight would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Officially leaving Headway. Torn between self-credentialing or just going fully private pay.

By now, most of you have probably seen the Headway updates of taking $9.99 per client who books through Headway, as well as the mandatory annual note review.

Like many, this is my final straw for staying on Headway. I’ve already being toying with the idea of leaving, so this felt like the final push. However, I’m torn between self-credentialing with insurances or going fully private but offering sliding scales.

I have between 10-15 active clients on my caseload who are insurance clients. Some could afford my full rate ($135), while others definitely can’t or wouldn’t. I would like to get credentialed with the main insurance carrier that these clients fall under (BC/BS), but I have such an intense fear of audits and clawbacks and other horror stories that have been shared on this subreddit before.

I’m curious to hear other people’s thoughts who have been in this situation. What did you end up choosing? If you did go fully private pay, how did you broach that with clients?

Thanks in advance!

Regence BCBS

A few months ago I tried to panel with Regence, I'm already paneled with Premera BCBS, so paneling with Regence would cover a huge amount of BCBS customers in WA where I have a small rural mh practice. Eventually, I got tired because I didn't understand what they were asking, I felt like I did all the things and still didn't get it. I have a Phd, and still paneling is somehow so exhausting I just couldn't.

So I gave up, I went to headway and moved on.

Recently I decided to try again. I filled out their cash form and told them I was interested..

They replied that I was already credentialed and should fill out their provider change form. I replied that I filled out the form, but was no longer credentialing with headway. They replied with a form email that I should call them.

I called and the person said they would get back to me after "looking into my issue"

Three weeks later I know I need to call again, but I also know it won't change anything.

How do I do this? How do I keep fighting the tide? I just want to keep doing the work I KNOW I am good at. But also my husband has cancer and I have to fucking pay the bills.

It's just not fair ( and I accept/hate that and complain anyway)
