The Completely Undocumented Mastering Chain on Sidekick. Also Supertone 1 Gud.
Why do hardware manufacturers be like dis? There is a limiter/some kind of mastering chain on KO Sidekick EP-136 that they just do no document or mention in any marketting. So unmentioned is it that nobody registers it's there, but it is there and I can prove it.
Slam the mixer do u hear clipping? Record it hot, do u hear harsh nasty digital clipping? There's that lil warning sign when its v hot, but my theory is that's warning u it's doing *a lot* of limiting and it's losing it's dynamic range. Not that it's hactually clipping.
I can prove it with logic also. It's a 32-bit device internally with 24-bit digital to analog conversion at the end. If they let it clip then that would remove the fun element to it, and it would remove the live performance element of it.
It's a quality of life boost compared to other gear. Ur neighbours complain less, you focus more on the composition and the performance. And it removes one step from posting to social media.
Then I also spoke in this video about Supertone 1 is like, really nasty for UKG garage. It's like that Wookie square tone and add automation and some distortion for extra nastiness.
