Switching to msfs 2024 from xp12

Hi,

I didn’t know where I should ask about this so I figured out that this will be the best place. Since 2022 I’ve used msfs 2020 and I have a lot of addons for it. Then I bought xplane 12 and switched between sims until I completely switched to xplane 12 in december 2025. I have a lot of addons for xplane 12 and it looks pretty good but there are a lot of things that are lacking. Recently I’ve started thinking about buying msfs 2024 and but I don’t know if it’s worth it. The most important things for me are if there are a lot of bugs like they say and will most of my addons from msfs 2020 work in 2024. Thanks

Game Crashes PS5

Lately my game has been either crashing, or the avionics are disabled randomly, usually happens on airliners/bigger planes. The game says that the memory is full and disables avionics, I've been unable to do a flight, sometimes I can't even taxi and it happens.

I downloaded the beta and I've done a few flights and it only happened once, but as soon as I landed my 747 the game crashed.

Is there any fix for this?

MSFS 2024 DXGI_ERROR_Device_hung with Fenix320

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing some issues in MSFS 2024 right now (I hadn’t played for a while before this).

For some reason, after around 30–40 minutes of gameplay, I get the error message “DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG”, which basically results in a CTD (crash to desktop).

In the MSFS crash report, there is also a mention saying “GPU Device Removed”. I’ve seen online that it could be related to the power supply. However, I ran both 3DMark and OCCT without finding any issues with the GPU. I did stress tests and longer 45-minute tests with the GPU constantly at 100% usage, and everything was stable. I also ran a VRAM stress test using all 16 GB, and there were no errors either.

I’d say I’m pretty comfortable with tech stuff, and I’ve already tried a lot of things before asking for help. I went through many Reddit posts, Avsim threads, and other forums, but none of the suggested fixes worked.

My specs are:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • RTX 5070 Ti
  • Windows 11
  • 750W power supply

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Reinstalled Windows from scratch with only the latest Nvidia drivers and a completely addon-free sim → same result
  • Installed older Nvidia drivers using DDU in Windows 11 Safe Mode → same result
  • Added TdrLevel and TdrDelay in Regedit (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers) → didn’t work
  • Tried the “Optimize” feature in the Nvidia app → same result
  • Disabled Frame Generation → same result

This issue only happens with MSFS 2024. Every other game runs perfectly fine: no freezes, no crashes, nothing.

At this point, I’m honestly out of ideas and losing hope of being able to play my favorite game again.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d really appreciate it.

EDIT : De-Activate XMP profile AM4 platform. You can try a lower XMP settings if you have time to spare...

Caravan cargo career experience

First flight stalled and crashed using FLC. Lesson learned just use VS. FLC - engine was at max non redline torque, flaps up. I didn’t see any setting for FLC speed. Plane just pitched at 25% and stalled

Second flight VNAV descent kicks in and spikes over speed 170 kts for less than 10 seconds…crash

Third flight, landed this one after at least an hour. Getting the finicky hold short experience so I turn the caravan back toward the line. There is a vehicle there but every other time I can just taxi through it. Nope not this time, crash

Fourth flight taxiing to end of run way. Brake and slow to 1-2 kts turn, plane keels over…crash. Is the taxi speed accurate?

Might as well go back to VIP private, not this much hassle

Flying soon - should I get 2020 or 2024?

Hi guys, I have a few spare bucks and I'd like to fly! I see a lot of bad reviews for the 2024 MSFS, but graphics are important to me... should I still consider 2024 or is the game really crashing that much?

Thank you

problem with a350-1000

hello

I'm having a problem with the A350-1000 in business class. Regardless of the airline, even the default livery is affected. Two rows remain gray and don't display the texture.

I've removed the WASM files and reinstalled the aircraft, but it hasn't fixed the problem. The A350-900 doesn't have this issue. The problem persists, even after reinstalling Windows and the simulator.

Why does the nose of the plane lift on its own?

Hello, I was just flying an Airbus A320 and when I took off, I retracted the landing gear and flaps and and few moments later, the nose of the plane lifts independently. Is there an option that causes this? If yes, where can I find it? I would like to control the altitude normally by myself. I'm playing by Xbox controller on Series X.

Selling my Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo in order to build my very own A320 Cockpit!

My yoke is in like-new condition; the original packaging and manual are included. Everything works perfectly, even the protective films are still on it! There are slight scratches on the mounting plate that attaches to the desk – unavoidable, but small and absolutely not visible when assembled. Works perfectly!

I only had it for a short time myself; I’m only selling it because I’m going to build an A320 sim cockpit. The bug has bitten me.

It will be shipped in two packages, also in an original shipping box.

Thinking of moving to Nobara. Anyone doing MSFS 2020 / 2024 VR with a Quest 3 + Nvidia?

I’m seriously considering finally ditching Windows and making the jump to Nobara, but there's one massive roadblock holding me back: VR flight simming. I spend a lot of my gaming time in MSFS 2020 and the new 2024, and losing VR is basically a dealbreaker for me.
Before I wipe my main drive or mess around with dual-booting, I wanted to get a reality check on the current state of things. Here’s the hardware I’m working with:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
GPU: RTX 4090
RAM: 64GB
Headset: Meta Quest 3
I know Linux VR has come a long way recently with stuff like WiVRn and the updated Steam Link, but I’m a bit worried about the Nvidia driver side of things combined with wireless streaming to a Quest 3—especially for something as ridiculously heavy as MSFS.
For anyone who actually flies on Linux right now:
How is MSFS 2024 holding up in VR under Proton? Does it still suffer from instant CTDs when toggling the VR space, or have recent Proton-GE/Wine patches smoothed things out? Also, how is the performance/reprojection feeling compared to the older MSFS 2020?
Would love to hear some real-world experiences from anyone running a high-end Nvidia setup on Nobara. Is it actually stable enough for longer flights, or am I just asking for a massive headache if I switch right now?
Thanks!

New here. Help please!!😅

Hi guys. I’m new to MSFS and I’ve recently bought the tflight hotas 4 for my PlayStation. I’m struggling with key bindings and I’m having to go to my controller for simple things like releasing the brakes. Does anyone have any tips for key bindings for the joystick?

Update on my Portable MSFS flight monitor with TOD alarm + country based radio

A few days ago I shared my small portable MSFS display idea here, and the interest was much bigger than expected.

So I kept working on it this is now the running version: you can test it on https://flightcue.up.railway.app/

It is a small portable display that shows your live flight info, made especially for long-haul flights or moments when you step away from the sim.

Main features:

live flight status
-ETA / remaining distance
-altitude / speed / wind
-TOD alarm / top of descent reminder
-country-based radio — when you fly over a country, you can listen to national radio stations from that country

useful when watching TV, training, cooking, sitting outside, or quickly being away from the PC

The main idea:

Take your flight with you :and don’t miss TOD.
DIY people / Reddit users: if you want to order the hardware yourself and install the software, message me. I can share the software for free.

Ready-to-go versions with software pre-installed should be possible from June 1st.

How do I start from the point where the aircraft hasn’t been started and on the runway?

Usually when I set a destination and arrival, choose a plane (either order) and start my flight, I spawn in with the aircraft ready to go and on the runway. Wanting to get better at the technical parts of this game, where in settings or anywhere else would I change this to start from say before the taxiway and to include the startup process?

How to activate VR mode?

Hi.

I’m playing using the HOTAS and PSVR2. Every time I launch a flight, it isn’t in VR mode. Everything I can find online suggests pressing L1, R1 and options but this isn’t working. I have the physical game.

How can I activate VR mode?

Respecting Taxi Path 0%

Alright what am I missing here? I turned on the interial separator like the briefing says. I’m not speeding or anything. If you land super short you can make the first exit on runway for taxing but otherwise gotta go the distance of runway while atc says to clear. On PS5

Edit Solved! Don’t skip any of the test and I was able to get an A and high respect %

ini A340:Is this a WASM crash or other crash?

I really want to know what is going on here. The flight control and system freeze up suddenly, then the aircraft starts descending out of control, until it crashes straight into the ground. But the screen don't become orange so some people told me this isn’t a WASM crash. I’m really annoyed what actually causes this problem and how to avoid it. It happens to me all the time when flying A343 long hual, usually around five to six hours into a flight.😭😭😭😡

Frustrating to load passengers

No idea what’s the right way to load passengers in career missions. In all my successful missions, passengers were loaded somehow automatically. If passengers didn’t appear in planes, I use the tablet and go to Payload And Fuel—>configure, add numbers in seats, then click load immediately. It shows loadings successfully. Sometimes no passenger appears. Even if there is a person sitting in copilot seat, mission still fails because of no passenger when I try to take off. Really frustrating😰. I play on ps5 and psvr2. Anyone knows how to do this. Please help. Thanks
