I actually first saw the original trilogy in the late 90s as a kid, so I never got to experience these movies as new releases. Yesterday, I watched Road Warrior again for the first time in years, and I'd forgotten how epic this moment is.

The buildup is fantastic. Throughout the film, Max never gets a chance to properly use his shotgun. First, it's a tool of deception, then... the shell he finally gets doesn't work during his encounter with the Humungus.

Finally you get this moment: the pose, the music, the zoom-in, the sound of both barrels going into the window. It's cinematic perfection. The kid losing it always cracks me up because I'm almost as giddy as he is.

I cannot imagine how this played in a packed theaters in 1981/82. Anyone remember their threatre's reaction to this exact moment?

I found the DVD second-hand at a geeky shop, and I found the poster image online on ThePosterDatabase.com. I printed it out and put it in a frame to decorate my room.
