The first season was so incredible, and Magneto's scenes in season 2 were iconic for a myriad of reasons. The original thoughts on the '97 Magneto were so mixed, but I genuinely think it will be looked back upon with love in time. Thoughts?
Him and Christopher Abbott (our Professor X) were both born in 1986, making them 40.
I genuinely think Lee Pace could be an incredible Magneto. He has the voice, presence and that quiet but threatening energy the character needs. Would you actually want to see him in the role?
For me, I need them to have some. They need to look the part, sound like they could play the part, and also they need to be intimidating. They can’t be too pretty boy. Cause if you go off most comic adaptations and animated adaptations of magneto. He’s like very kind of good looking, but he also can be like intimidating and have some more like a mature factor to his face. So of my criteria either by Voice or look, they need to be intimidating enough and then they need to look the part as well. Jason Issac’s just looks a like a good Ian McClellan type again.
Just as the title says.
To get the obvious out of the way, Im aware that Magneto is leagues above Polaris is terms of both innate power and experience but I kinda wanted a more exact measurement of how far off they are.
So Assuming that Magento is rated a 10, what would Polaris be in comparison ?
It gave him a certain intensity.
I recorded it, but then my phone disconnected from the heat 🥵. My 14th T4.
Everyone always looks down on this costume and talks up how silly it looks, but I completely unironically love it! Easily Magneto's best live-action look thus far. It basically takes the original comic book costume and reinvents it from "supervillain costume" to "Bond villain costume".
And the helmet. Oh God, the helmet has never looked this great in a movie before or since.
I think the problem with it is that we never got to see it in a cool context. The one time we see it, Fassbender is just standing kind of awkwardly, not even saying anything particularly cool. If he was wearing it during a big action scene, bad guy speech or just doing somehting more dynamic period, I feel it would have instantly gone over better. One of the many reasons why Matthew Vaughn should have been allowed to make a full First Class - trilogy, instead of bringing Singer back.
I guess for the sake of comparison I should go over quickly how I feel about Magneto's other live-action costumes.
The original trilogy costume is fine. Nothing mind-blowing, but easily the best costumed look any charcter had in those movies (black leather on X-Men suuuuuuuuucked) and the helmet redesign was pretty neat.
In Days of the Future Past, Future!Magneto looks just boring. Everything that's lame about Singer's X-Men costumes now affects him too. 70's Magneto is better, but without his helmet he would just look like someone wearing a purple paintball body armor.
Apocalypse costume is really ugly. Trying to be more comic book-y, but so overdesigned that it is just an eyesore.
I feel that the "costume" in Dark Phoenix shouldn't even count, but since someone will point it out, if I don't say anything, it is beyond nothingburger. Looks like what a Smallville knock-off X-Men tv-show would do with the character.
I love how a Holocaust survior is being up a Nazi.
Didn't Red Skull kill his parents? Erik is one of the coolest characters in Marvel. I honestly never thought of him as evil. He is just trying to protect his people. His powers to control magnetism is awesome.
- Firstly thing is have Magneto be able to Manipulate Iron in his blood to slow his ageing down. I Would Make it so that at the end of WW2 Nazi’s froze jews with signs of the x-gene including Magneto when he was only 13 and in 1980 he was freed and escaped with the help of a Hydra worker who was secretly a Holocaust Survivor who dies doing so. He then goes to live with her young daughter magda and by 1989 they are married with a daughter. Hydra Discovers him, killing his daughter and shortly after Magda flees while she’s pregnant with twins. (reveal that Wanda & Pietron were actually adopted)
- Since then hes been hunting former then Fast Forward to 2010 He Meets a young Charles Xavier (22) in israel while working at centre attended by old holocust survivors. they both discover that each other are mutants and understand they are a sub species but to their knowledge it is a small population.
- The cosmic radiation generated from the snaps between Infinity war and Endgame causes a mutant bloom meaning the X-Gene is no longer something that was mostly dormant and by 2023 Charles Xavier Sets his plan in motion to form the x-men by discovering more mutants than he already has. Fast forward to 2028 in universe he already has a relationship with most of them or meeting them before he puts together his team.
- Magneto on the other has a different Ideological view due to his past experiences and seeing how the world has changed he thinks the world wouldn’t respond well to when they find out what mutant’s actually are so he begins to seek out other mutants incase. Despite that hes indifferent with Xavier but in the years between 23-27 they discover that the knowledge of mutants are already known to scientists, politcal figures and others including Damage Control who have been anticipating their existence and by the events of bnd his knowledge of jean, her sister and DODC only reinforces his view causing that Split between Him and Xavier which causes him to go on a quest to creating the brotherhood.
