M38 uk night owl

Heya, do you speak fluent sarcasm?

Do you like to swap insults which would make your grandma's toes curl?

Do you want to generally hate everyone and everything equally( its all about equality these days)

Then I may be the online rando friend for you! Come say hi or F you.... both work

Hi guys, trying this again lol

I did post a few days ago but I'm new here and don't quite know how Reddit works yet. I'm like a boomer in a young ish mans body when it comes to tech and new sites/apps 🤣 Anyway I'm Tom, 31 M, single and having a bit of a rough time of it recently so it'd be great to find some new friends and distract myself! I'll talk to basically anyone about anything so feel free to pop up. Nice one 👍

35F England looking to chat

35 F would like to make some new friends I'm looking for someone around my age to chat with regularly.
I enjoy movies, gaming, hiking, art and cooking.
I spend a lot of time at work and have very little time to socialise which probably explains why I'm here.
I'd like to get to know some new people :)

21M — anyone into photography / photo walks around London? 📸

Hey, 21M here! Recently got into photography and thought it would be fun to meet some people around London who are also interested in photography or just fancy exploring somewhere and taking a few pictures
Thinking of doing a casual photo walk sometime maybe grab a coffee, walk around and experiment with some portraits/street photography.
I’m still learning, so nothing super serious 😅 Just looking to practise and hopefully make some new friends along the way.
If anyone’s interested, say hi :)

43M UK – looking for some online friends

Hi, I’m 43, married and work in IT. I’m fairly introverted and not always the best at starting conversations, but once I get to know someone I’m much more comfortable.

I’d like to find a few people to chat to and hopefully build some genuine friendships. Someone you can message during the day, talk about whatever’s on your mind, send random things to and just gradually get to know.

I’m a gamer, although these days I’m much more into cosy games than anything particularly competitive. I do have a huge amount of nostalgia for the classics though, so I’m always happy to talk about old games.

Outside of gaming, I like going for walks, exploring new places, watching TV and cooking. I’m pretty happy with a quiet evening at home too.

If you think we might get along, feel free to pop me a DM to say hello 🙂

47M UK — introvert, socially anxious, geeky and looking for genuine friends

I've lurked around Reddit for years, and I'm finally trying something a bit outside my comfort zone — actually posting and seeing if I can meet some like-minded people.

I'm 47, British, and introverted, although I don't think that necessarily means what people sometimes assume it does. I'm not antisocial. I actually really enjoy talking to people. It's getting comfortable enough to do it that's the difficult part.

I'm autistic and I think a lot of my introversion is tied into that. I can be quite talkative one-to-one once I feel comfortable with someone. Put me in a group, though, and the number of people seems to make a surprisingly big difference. I start worrying about when to speak, whether I'm interrupting, whether what I'm saying is interesting, whether I've misunderstood something, whether people are going to laugh at me, and whether I'm keeping up with the conversation.

Someone who is very extroverted, talks quickly and keeps firing questions at me can actually make me more withdrawn rather than bringing me out of my shell. It's not that I'm uninterested — quite the opposite. Sometimes I'm interested and trying to work out how on earth I'm supposed to get a word in. 😄

I've also never found it particularly easy to show people the completely unfiltered version of myself. I'm much more comfortable once I know someone and feel that I can actually be myself without worrying about getting things wrong.

So I'm probably looking for people who don't expect an instant best friend. I'd rather have conversations develop naturally and gradually. I'm also much better at responding when someone approaches me than making the first move myself, so if I don't immediately leap into someone's DMs, it isn't a lack of interest. I'm just much more comfortable when somebody opens the door first.

As for me beyond the introversion...

I'm a bit of a geek. A fairly eclectic one.

I'm into Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Marvel, Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Simpsons, Harry Potter, Disney, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park and Transformers. I like Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher and Ernest Cline, with Ready Player One and Armada being particularly important parts of my geek education.

And despite apparently ticking almost every geek box, I've never really got into Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. I've tried. Apparently my geek credentials have some rather strange exclusions.

I'm also into history, and have a particular soft spot for the London Underground and the way places develop and change over time. I'm one of those people who can become interested in a completely random subject and then disappear down a rabbit hole learning far more about it than was ever necessary.

I'm a gamer too, particularly indie and unusual games, and I'm currently working on my own indie game, which has become a rather larger creative project than I originally intended.

Music is another huge rabbit hole. I love 90s British indie and alternative music — Oasis, Blur, Cast, Shed Seven, The Lightning Seeds, Carter USM, The Stone Roses, Dodgy, The Charlatans and plenty of obscure bands that probably only three people remember. I also love the Beatles.

Then there's grunge, metal and alternative stuff — Terrorvision, Therapy?, The Wildhearts, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Korn, Sepultura, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins and many others.

And somehow that all sits alongside Moby, The Future Sound of London, The Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin and Fatboy Slim.

So my music taste is essentially a 90s teenager who refused to pick a lane.

I'm also into cooking and baking, and generally making things.

I'm probably quite stereotypically British in some ways too. I drink far too much tea, I appreciate a properly organised queue, I love the London Underground, and I genuinely enjoy British weather.

I'm even a legacy member of the Cloud Appreciation Society, because apparently appreciating clouds is something I take seriously. ☁️

I feel very British while also feeling very European, which probably explains some of the above.

I'm not looking for hundreds of people or constant conversation. I'd much rather find a few genuine friendships with people where we can talk about whatever happens to interest us — geeky nonsense, music, history, games, everyday life, or some completely bizarre rabbit hole neither of us expected to end up in.

I'm UK-based, and people roughly around my age would be lovely, although I'm much more interested in having things in common than an exact age.

If any of this sounds familiar, feel free to say hello.

And if you're also the sort of person who would rather someone else make the first move...

Well, this is me making mine. 👋

36 f uk

I've been told I probably shouldn't post here again after a few attempts, but I'm determined to find my (platonic) someone! 😂 I've always posted about what I'm looking for, but this time I thought I'd say what I don't want instead. If that sounds selfish, oh well! 🤣

Please don't be married. I'm naturally flirty (but respectful), and I don't want to constantly worry about what I say. I use "that's what she said" at least three times a day. 🤣

Not too much older or younger than me. Similar life experiences and things in common would be nice.

Not someone who lives in the gym. Exercise is great, but if that's all we can discuss, I'll get bored quickly.

Please don't use "hru" or similar acronyms. I'm a nerdy girl who loves the English language! 😂

If you've made it this far and fancy a chat, please DM me! I don't always see notifications or replies on posts.

42m. Congratulations. You found the least serious post on Reddit.

I’m from the UK, and instead of writing one of those “I’m kind, caring and enjoy long walks…” posts, I thought I’d be honest.
I once walked into a room, forgot why I was there, made myself a drink, and left. I still don’t know what the original mission was.
I’m into gaming, reading, music, and having conversations that go completely off the rails for no reason.
If you’re funny, sarcastic, or just fancy talking to someone who doesn’t treat every chat like a job interview, send me a message.
I don’t care if we end up talking about books, games, aliens, why socks disappear in the washing machine, or why we all say “you too” to the waiter after they tell us to enjoy our meal.
Life’s weird. People are weird. We may as well laugh about it.
If you’re still reading this instead of scrolling… I reckon we’d probably get on.
Come and say hi. I promise I’m at least 14% funnier than this post.

Making friends as an adult!

What is it about being an adult that people think is so hard about making new friends?

Are people just too eager and going about it in all the wrong ways?

People come on these groups and say: “let’s be friends”.

They’re so eager to “make friends” that they miss all the fundamental steps it takes to actually make one.

I have a very close circle of friends, I could count them on one hand, but any one of them would lend me their last £10 if they felt I needed it more.

But to get to that stage took a lot of time, and a lot of trust and mishaps. And being there for each other when the absolute worst things happened.

And I’m just not sure how you build that type of relationship with someone online.

The biggest issue I see is people lacking social skills. And that’s a real problem. But the only way to combat that, and actually meet real people, and have genuine relationships and friendships, is to go out and actually meet people.

So long as you’re an honest person, interesting (subjective), and kind, you will make friends.

No idea where I was going with this post by the way haha

It’s just an observation. Maybe it’ll spark a conversation.

Cheerio!

Just hit 34! Anyone want to chat with this welsh builder on his birthday?

Hey im Harry, im just on here looking for people to chat with and who knows even make a new friend or 2

(i know thats highly unlikely on reddit)

So during the working week you can find me coverd in 100 year old dust as I restore and repair old buildings mostly things like churches, castles, old manor houses or just an old barn, I do mostly stonework but will tackle most other building jobs too. When im not working i love to be outdoors, on a good walk or in the garden trying and mostly not succeeding in growing vegetables. I try my best though! Also a big fan of traveling to new places either around the UK or abroad so any recommendations welcome! Also love going for a good pint in a nice pub with friends.

So if you have made it this far and fancy a chat sometime even a quote on some building work 😉 then come have a chat!
