Is malwarebytes good?

Hi everyone,i recently switched from avg to malwarebytes and defender(i got the always register malwarebytes in the security center option disabled). Is it great and better than AVG? Please, please comment down. Im scared since my friend recently got seven trojans. I got malwarebytes because it revealed all of them for him, while Avast didnt.

malwarebytes flagging files in system32?

crossposting from another community.

so i got a sketchy download a week or so ago that got me some malware which prompted me to do a million deep scans with malwarebytes, kaspersky, roguekiller, hitmanpro and windows offline scans, all coming back clean after the first. now a week later i get hit with this from malwarebytes, but from what i've seen online there are a decent amount of malwarebytes false positives. i scanned the system32 folder and found nothing after this was quarantined, but i don't know how it avoided the first group of scans.

is this a false positive/normal? i was thinking about uploading it to virustotal but figured it was better left deleted. atp this is making me wanna reformat...

for info, after the malware got downloaded and deleted, my discord acc got hacked despite having 2fa. i changed my password from a clean device (my phone) and logged out all other sessions, along with changing my password and updating 2fa on other important sites (steam twitter email google here etc.) from the same clean device. i figure it ran a cookie stealer. there’s a few more phishing emails in my junk now but am i in the clear?

If VPNs start logging user activity, then what’s even the point anymore?

So I just read that Canada’s proposed surveillance bill is getting massive backlash from VPN companies, and apparently Windscribe even said they might straight up leave Canada if they’re forced to log user activity. Ngl this is kinda insane to me. Like bro the main reason I even pay for a VPN is so my activity isn’t being tracked everywhere I work remotely and travel a lot, so I’m constantly connecting to hotel Wi-Fi, coffee shops, airports, all that sketchy public internet stuff. A VPN is basically my safety net. But if governments start forcing VPN companies to keep logs of what users are doing then wtf are we paying for at that point?. Anyone else think this whole thing is getting way outta pocket?

It keeps coming back

So yesterday i downloaded KMSpico from a bad source and i got a malware that hacked all of my gaming accounts (riot games, discord, steam, epic games, ea) it had access to my gmail and put extensions on both google chrome and microsoft edge i tried getting rid of the malware by using malware bytes and deleting the browsers extensions yet the malware kept coming back so eventually i installed a new windows (deleting the C partition and creating a new one) and when i setup my windows and all was well i received an email saying that someone is trying to open my microsoft account and then when I opened Edge i noticed that it has two weird extensions so i ran malware bytes again to find out that the malware is back I have no idea what to do now and i lowkey dont wanna format my whole pc

I honestly dunno where to begin

About five days ago, I got a trial for MalwareBytes (dunno how, I’ve had it installed for almost four years now) but that’s not the point. Ever since then, every single time I open my browser, I get a notification saying “Powershell Exploit Blocked”. I don’t know what’s going on, as MalwareBytes’ Threat Scan hasn’t detected anything in two years and running it today picked up nothing, but my browser is running so slow now that it barely works. How likely is it that this is a false flag and how can I stop the app from looking for something that isn’t here, and seemingly tanking my browser as a result?

I use OperaGX and rarely have more than one or two tabs open, depending on what I’m doing. Currently, I only have three tabs open but I’ve handled as many as fifteen without issue while simultaneously playing a video game. I’ve tried reinstalling .net files, as Windows isn’t sending me the damn updates for them. I’ve reinstalled my browser, which seems to have actually made things worse. I’ll try another browser just in case but I’ve never had this issue with OperaGX or MalwareBytes before.

Edit: …I’m going through the settings again and I’ve just realized I can turn off Exploit protection, something I’ll probably do since I’ll lose it anyway when my trial ends in nine days 😂

Just want a second opinion if this is normal. I know an antivirus would disable another but it telling me im locked out by an "IT admin" and i cant uninstall??

SOLVED

I downloaded Malwarebytes yesterday, i wanted to test it out. Now i can't uninstall?
My windows defender was turned off by an "IT admin" which might be normal for an antivirus to do but might as well mention it

Just bought Premium, and will be reformatting, I have a quick question.

So I foolishly downloaded a trojan(FakeGoogle) on Sunday(5/10) and went through the process of scrubbing it from my PC, as well as whatever they were using to direct access my PC. Buying Premium to help with finding any remnants. Then after changing all my passwords, primarily with my phone. I already planned to reformat and reinstall my Windows drive and was wondering if I have to do anything special to keep it protecting my PC after reformatting?

Also I had been running the scan on Malwarebytes every couple hours to make sure no virus' popped up while I'm monitoring my PC with no detections after the initial FakeGoogle Trojan was quarantined. Then today(5/13) after turning on my PC after getting home I ran Malwarebytes to make sure there wasn't anything being installed on start up and it detected 2 Trojan.Crypt in my recycle bin. I was wondering how concerned I should be about that since they weren't there over the past 3 days over 22 scans.
