Twelve days ago, screenshots surfaced on social media against Professor Aqeel-ur-Rehman of Khwaja Fareed University, triggering a widespread storm:
Then came the predictable fallout—prominent vloggers found a trending topic and bombarded him with accusations.
The police arrived and arrested him. A departmental inquiry was initiated, and forensics confiscated his mobile phone, WhatsApp, and laptop.
Following this, various investigative teams called in students one by one, but not a single student assassinated his character. He had stated, "If anything incriminating is found in my possession, I will accept my guilt." And that is exactly what happened—nothing inappropriate was found on his phone or laptop.
Meanwhile, his family was forced into hiding their faces in shame. His children locked their doors and confined themselves indoors, while relatives severed ties with them.
People showered him with abuse on social media. I was aware of this news at the time, but I never share any news until I have solid proof or the victim steps forward directly.
That is why I remained silent—how could I question the character of someone I didn't even know? And as expected, the poor man was proven completely innocent.
Now that the NCCIA (National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency) has launched a crackdown on those who uploaded unverified screenshots on social media, public apologies have started emerging.
The account used to upload everything turned out to be fake, and the individual who fabricated everything using AI deleted their profile and disappeared.
Now pause and think: how will this man face society? He was punished for a crime he never committed. The lengths people will go to out of sheer malice and jealousy!
I am writing in his defense because people must realize that in the pursuit of views, we destroy the life of a respectable human being. Will you help restore this man's dignity and life?
