Happy 4th of July!

It really is the little things that count, and this is definitely one of them. God bless the USA!

Cleaning Solution Approach

Dealing with mililiters and teaspoons is tedious for fat-fingered me in the middle of a run and I'm wondering if there are simpler approaches. It's impressive that the robot remembers where he ran out of solution and runs back to address the spots he missed after he gets a fresh tank. Bravo!!!

Mixing a big batch is attractive - will a pre-mixed batch "spoil" over time?

I thought about loading premixed solution into several tanks at once and then just popping in a full tank without a long interruption in the cleaning cycle. But the tanks are pricey. Maybe a five-for-the-price-of three would help but that's still $20 a tank.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Feature Request - Bag Summon

I just got a Bag Full notification on my phone. I could have used my app to locate Matic, but I searched instead, knowing it was in one of three rooms. It'd be cool if Matic went to where I keep my spare filter bags, which is near the dock or near the trash can where I dispose of the full one.
Conveniences: no searching or looking up robot location, and located where I perform the service.

Mold in mob tank

I posted about this once before I was seeing black particles floating around in the tank. You guys sent me a new perforated cap and instructions on sanitizing the tank and what to use for a cleaning solution going forward. I was told that in addition to a half cap of an Fannie’s solution, I should add a tablespoon of white vinegar which I have been doing.

Despite following all those instructions, I’m now seeing black junk in the tank again see images.

Cant connect after notification

I got the notification that Matic’s bag was full, but when I clicked on the notification to where Matic is at, the app does not connect to Matic now.

I had problems before with Matic getting stuck and depleting its battery, but I am away from house for the next 20-25 days.

Update: it came back after 3 hours. Update maybe?

Why isn’t this thing more popular

I’m not being paid to say this. Im not even sure why I’m writing this here I just wanted to ramble. I’m just extremely confused why this doesn’t seem to have more market presence. Is it because it’s not on Amazon? That’s literally the only reason I can think of. And I guess it’s pricier than the cheap models out there but if you can budget for this it is so worth it

I consider myself a robot vacuum veteran. Gone through the last decade with numerous robots: Eufys, Roombas, Sharks, Zoozies (oh God), Neatos, and more, and now the Matic. The Matic may be the endgame for me for a very long time; I’m so over buying more and more of these robot things and going through parts and errors and troubleshooting.

I bought two of these after my wife told me there is a cute, quiet cleaning robot that is privacy-forward and low maintenance (all of the things that otherwise drove me nuts about the other robot vacuums out there). One is upstairs and one is downstairs. So far they have been an absolute dream.

Our house is currently being worked on and there are lots of contractors coming in and out. Despite this, when I return to the house, the floors are basically spotless. I walk around barefoot and don’t get a bunch of dirt on my soles. Refilling the water is super easy. And this thing is QUIET and unobtrusive and avoids running over your feet when you’re walking around. And it doesn’t have a super loud emptying docking station that sounds like a fighter jet taking off. It just works, toss out the whole bag when it’s full. And the little things and attention to detail - the lid, while sturdy and hefty, opens easily with just a one finger lift, reminiscent of an Apple notebook computer. The on-screen shows you just enough information and is easy to read. Even the water refilling process - the screw cap clicks into place with a satisfying snap when you’re done filling the water so you know it’s secure and not leaking water into your robot.

The app is phenomenal. Leagues ahead of all the other robot vacuum apps I have ever used. Easy to use, easy to make and modify schedules, very easy to locate your robot in real time and monitor its progress, and… MOST importantly, it loads almost instantaneously. No “connecting to your vacuum” loading screens or “retrieving status”. It just works. Also a huuuuge perk for me: switching between my two Matic robots happens instantaneously at the tap of a single button where it shows the name of your robot. I used to hate opening my iRobot app so much. Sometimes my roomba would start cleaning when I was on the phone and I wud want to stop it quickly but I would open the app, it would load, then connect to the robot, and then would take long enough to respond to my command that by the time the robot paused it was already zooming halfway across the room. The Matic just works. It does what you want it to do when you want it to do it. And the HomeKit integration via Matter is an absolute killer feature. I do wish I had slightly more control and faster status updating in the Apple Home app on iOS but I don’t know if that’s an Apple issue or a Matic issue or both.

They say that home technology is good when you don’t even have to think about it. Contrary to this principle the Matic is so great that I can’t stop thinking about it. And the fact that I found their Reddit page and the founders themselves are like replying to stuff. Wtf. One of the best things I’ve purchased. I have been raving about it at work and everyone is like “what is that thing? Never heard of it.”

Matic - I’m just some random guy so don’t take my advice but I would dial up your marketing engines. It’s pricey yes but stand your ground. This is the Lamborghini of robot vacuums. People have to know what they’re missing out on.

Matic won’t go under furniture that it clearly fits under

Hi!

First off, I am loving my matic. it has truly been a lifesaver!

I have noticed that my matic constantly will not go and vacuum under couches and furniture that it fits under. I have tried driving it manually with a joystick under the future; once under, it just backs out completely. It is frustrating because a lot of dirt gathers under this furniture. Is there any way to make it understand that it can fit?

Dark mode for app?

I know it’s a first world problem but dark mode would be so nice for night time after a get together when I realize I’d like to wake up to a clean home

Long term durability of matics?

I’ve been reading other subreddits and there are plenty of horror stories about Mova, Roborock, Dreame, etc.—vacuums that become unrepairable once the warranty ends, or units that get lost in the company’s warehouse with no liability on their end. Just curious if anyone has experience with Matics after the warranty expires?

It sounds like since Matic is a much smaller company customer service is better.

Impressed after a month

I was skeptical but she wanted it pretty badly for her birthday after we saw her son and his wife in San Francisco and they had one.
I have to say I'm extremely impressed after the first few weeks. So far it's been hassle free and the bags last longer than I expected. Setting up the robot and the scheduling was a breeze, and the live map of our house on the app the app shows exactly what it's done, will do, and when it will finish.
It's also quieter than I expected. It's not silent, but it's not at all distractingly loud and the little noise it does make has quickly become something I don't notice.
The floors look great when it's done.
Do I think it cleans as well as I or someone else making an effort would do with a regular vacuum, scrub brush, and mop? No. But our floors weren't that dirty. And in the long run I think the cleaning it does on a very regular basis will be better than that bi-annual deep cleaning we were doing.
Again, it's only been a month. But so far, Bravo to Matic for a great product. It's especially impressive seeing it's a relatively new product from a young company.
Ok, couple of requested features:
On the scheduling page, I'd like the option to "Run this schedule now."
I'd like to be able to circle a spot on a cleaning job and designated it as something like "mess" so that it approaches that area mop-first and doesn't get mess on its wheels. (I know this will happen)
Trivial items though. We love the product!
Let me know when my Matic Robot lawnmower is available.

Editing room boundaries

I believe we need more ways to edit room areas. For example, an eraser and marker to shrink or extend room boundaries would be great, similar to adding no-go red areas.

I am having trouble correctly marking the rooms with lines.
