Why was 311 shut down 4th of July evening?

We get the McKinney newsletter regularly and they emphasized calling 311 for fireworks related calls this year and avoiding 911. We actually are not fond of calling the police for anything so no need to call me out as a tattle tale, but we do have neighbors who shoot off fireworks and also neighbors that do not appreciate a long evening of hearing fireworks nearby as it upsets their dogs or veterans in the neighborhood. Our neighbor texted to let us know they had tried talking to the neighbors who were shooting fireworks and got no relief. They tried calling 311 and the line says it was unavailable in our area at this time. I verified this and advised the neighbor to try 911 since the 311 line is shut down.

I plan to email our city council about this service being unavailable on a night the citizens were encouraged to rely on it for non emergency calls. Is there any other way to inform our city that shutting down this service is unacceptable?

Red White and Blah

This was not a fireworks show tonight. This was a drone show with approx 5 minutes of actual fireworks added to the end. Disappointing for those in search of an actual fireworks show. If you were in search of a well executed drone show it was a great experience.

Time to rebrand the event.

Towne Lake, why was there running?

At Towne lake for the firework show and there was two incidents of large groups running (like 911 running). Any information or just teens being teens?

The McKinney Town Lake Drone Show/Fireworks was actually good.

I didn’t expect much from it, but the turnout was huge. It felt like a concert, and the drone show was amazing.

Preschool - is everywhere $1,000+ a month?

Moving from Utah and my 3 yr old attended the most expensive one in town and it was $350 a month. Everything I’m finding is over $1,000 a month of more. And all the Mother’s Day Out ones seem to be religious…and I don’t want any part of that right now (just left Mormonism). Do ya’ll know of any good ones that aren’t going to cost me 10k a year? Or is this just normal?

Best place to watch McKinney fireworks from my car?

Looking for a legal parking lot where I can watch the McKinney Red, White & BOOM fireworks from my car. Any spots with a good view and an easy exit after the show? Please share your recommendations. Thanks!

How early do I arrive at Towne Lake Park for fireworks tomorrow to get parking?

Edit: Arrived at One Community Church around 7.15. Probably one of the last few people to find a parking spot there. It was completely full. Thanks everyone.

Hi, I moved to McKinney recently and was wondering what the fireworks scene was here? Is the park too crowded? Do I need to come in super early? What are some good spots around to watch the fireworks?

Thanks

Looking for a place to set off fireworks outside town

Im looking to see if anyone knows of a someone using their private land to set off fireworks on the outskirts of town?

There used to be a place in north Denton that you could donate $50 a car to set off fireworks as long as you cleaned up afterwards. Unfortunately they aren't doing it this year.

The medical sprawl in collin county is getting honestly ridiculous

Driving down 380 nowadays it feels like every single empty lot is just being turned into another massive glass-and-concrete hospital plaza. don't get me wrong, it's nice having quick cares nearby, but the big facilities are just so incredibly cold and industrial. You walk through the sliding doors and immediately just feel like a barcode for their billing department

When a close friend of mine hit a wall last year and needed serious help with his drinking, we tried looking at the behavioral health wings at the major hospitals here in town. It was honestly so depressing. Just sterile, fluorescent-lit locked wards that felt more like a punishment than actual recovery. We ended up having to look outside the immediate mckinney bubble and got him into discovery point retreat just because we were desperate to find a place that actually felt like a safe house instead of a clinical factory

I get that we are growing super fast and need the infrastructure, but it really sucks how institutionalized and soulless all the new development feels. Kinda miss when everything around here didn't feel like one giant medical billing code. anyone else just exhausted by the aesthetic of these mega-clinics?

Hit and run from April :( need help

Hi!
My husband and I live at Parkside at Craig ranch near the fire station and police station. Someone in a bluish Volvo did a hit and run on our car on April 24,2026.
We filed a police report and asked neighbors for their camera footage but unfortunately they weren’t able to find anything.

This is a long shot, but does anyone have any sort of information about this? We thought it would be fine since we had witnesses but we just got charged for repairs. This is so unfair especially since we had our car PARKED and we were sitting at home when this happened. There’s a special place in hell for people who do this and run away.

Happened around 1:50 pm on Friday April 24
In front of house # 7254
Towards fire station and took a left
Bluish Volvo

Looking for Non flashy local Christian churches with multiple service days and times and child care

My husband and I are looking for church that provides childcare and has flexible services since our schedules often change. Most importantly we are looking for a church with a good close community, not too big, and has more focus on the actual scripture rather than flashy worship and asking for money or an entire sermon off of only a few verses, which often are taken out of context. One with people who are more serious about learning. Many churches we’ve tried have too many of the young adults are dressed innapropriately and are only their to socialize, no one takes anything serious and the worship is always a big show and the pastors often seem very fake with fake crying and they put all their emphasis on donations, it feels false and we would like to learn more about the religion without the fake showcasing. My husband comes from a Muslim background and I come from Christianity, but have always hated it most my life and we are trying to figure things out and genuinely want to learn and also be surrounded by good moral people. We are also looking for a men’s bible study for my husband, again one that is for adults and is serious with good community. (We live in Anna, but are often in the McKinney area)

Avendale Painted Tree / Cyrene Painted Tree

My husband was just offered a job in McKinney TX and we have to move from California within 3 weeks. We are looking at Avendale Painted Tree and Cyrene Painted tree as rental friendly options while we get established but know nothing about the communities themselves, only that they are located in Painted Tree. Does anyone have experience with those communities? Pros? Cons? Things to watch out for? Both seem relatively new, and the size of the homes is....small relative to price per month but we are looking for something quick.
