Why I quit trying -and why I'm starting again at 18

"I'm 17. I've been seeking recognition my whole life. I wrote about why I stopped trying, about rejection and bullies, about the child inside who still wants to shine. If you've been made small — this is for you."

Esprit carpe brune visage sans trait

Bonjour,

I was banned twice in the same week of May 2026 on Medium platform

I am sharing my horrible experience I faced on medium recently.

I was banned on 11th May 2026 at 5:00 am.

I requested to uplift my suspension. It was uplifted by the same day.

Then, the same week by Friday morning I was banned yet again on 16th May 2026 at 5:00 am.

This time. I didn't paywalled the Meta medium article and also wrote articles carefully.

I don't know what's really happening.

I have written so many articles.

There is no warning ⚠️ on medium and you have to fight for your work it's a shame.

Are others facing the same?

Medium Meta Writers - Why?

You know who I am talking about:

"How to succeed on Medium!"
"One trick Medium writers need to transform their writing"
Etc.

A writer of this sort posted their stats the other day and the earnings while low individually per story admittedly added up to something more meaningful.

Are you all just reading each other's version of how to succeed and regurgitating it into another meta Medium post?

Is it a viable income stream given your location and other demands?

What I most want to know is: Do you enjoy this writing? Would you rather be writing novels/scripts/stories/poetry?

No hate/animosity -I just cannot imagine doing that sort of writing, it seems very dry and impersonal.

Did AI-Led Hype Ruin the Swatch x AP Collaboration?

I wrote this op ed for my blog regarding the social media frenzy some of these AI generated Royal Pop images made, and how they may have dampened many people’s expectations.

My highest earning from a single medium story.

So I've earned around $9 from a single medium story that too within a week. I used to think that I'll not get more than a dollar.

The point is we can earn a decent amount on medium if we write content that can attract readers till the end.

How good is Medium?

I am interested in starting to write on Medium.

The reason for this decision is that I'd written on Quora for the past 5 and a half months, seeing no results. As a porfessional writer striving for recognition, I need a platform for this.

So my question is, is Medium good or should I do something else?

Reddit Was Right: Wonder not Wonderful

Reddit was right — Wonder was not wonderful and I paid way too much for this disappointing meal:

Last Friday, I had a taste for brisket and wanted to try Wonder’s BBQ (using a Uber Eats promo code). I could have went to my kitchen and made a quick little chili, but I wanted to treat myself. Welp — Reddit wins again. I should have listened to the 18 people who responded to Have You Tried Wonder on the Ask Philly sub/Reddit. Only one person had something positive to say, about Wonder’s food. So being an optimist (and a little foolish and hungry) — I put in my hopeful order. I knew something was wrong when the first charge hit my card for $26 — then the $48 and then the tip. I ordered from the Jenkintown location. Full article below

Compound Interest is finally working for my stories.

I have 300+ stories written.

If 50 of them make 0.5 cents a month.

I make 25$.

This month Medium was slightly more kind.

More than 100 of them have made money, and I crossed 200$.

As I had pointed out in my previous post, somehow older stories are getting a lot of traction for me. Newer one are still making 1$ each lol

Stuck at 56 followers and Stripe is not in my country. Is Medium still worth it?

I have been posting my security research and threat hunting deep dives on Medium for a while now. While the reach is decent I have hit a wall that I am not sure how to climb over.

The Situation

Right now I have 56 followers. My stats are actually solid. I am pulling in about 1k views and 500 reads on average and gaining maybe 5 to 10 followers a month.

The Huge Issue

I am from a country where Stripe is not available. Since Medium uses Stripe for the Partner Program I am basically stuck. Even when I hit that 100 follower mark I will not be able to officially join the program to earn from my stories.

I need your advice on a few things:

  • The Stripe Problem: If you are in a country that Stripe does not support how are you handling this? Is there a legit workaround or am I locked out of the MPP forever?
  • Should I pivot: Since I cannot get paid through the program should I stop focusing on Medium and move my research to Substack or a personal blog where I can use other payment methods?
  • Growing faster: My views are high but my followers are low. How do I get more of those readers to actually hit the follow button in the cybersecurity niche?
  • Strategy: Should I even bother applying to the MPP later or should I just focus on using Medium to build a brand and portfolio instead?

I really like the platform but I do not want to keep shouting into a void if there is no way to actually grow or monetize here.

Has anyone else been in this spot? What would you do?

I'm celebrating my first post in a publication! Also, I want to follow UK-based writers.

I wanted to write on Medium for so long, but I've been holding myself back.

Today my 2nd post - the first I have submitted to a publication - was accepted, and I am so proud of myself for putting something out there to be judged. If you are interested in what it's like for autistic people navigating the workplace - especially if you are a boss - I would love to have your eyes on it https://medium.com/the-unexpected-autistic-life/why-do-only-1-in-4-autistic-people-work-4342ee439186

I am also toying with the idea of starting a UK-focussed publication to document the political and cultural shifts happening here. Are there any UK-based writers here? I am interested in following you, and I would like to know whether you'd be interested in reading or writing for (or editing!) a publication like this?

Why is my first Medium article not showing up on Google yet?

Hey everyone,

I published my first ever Medium article 5 days ago. I spent hours researching it properly because the topic was very specific and something I genuinely cared about. But till now, I can’t find either my article or even my Medium profile on Google.

I know 5 days probably sounds very little to experienced writers here, but honestly, it kind of messed with my confidence. I was super excited when I published it, and now I keep checking Google every few hours wondering if I did something wrong.

I even started researching Medium indexing after this and now I’m even more confused. Some people are saying their articles got indexed within 24 to 48 hours, while some others are saying they waited for weeks. Reading completely mixed experiences like that is making me overthink everything(yeah I do I know my username says it all).

What’s making me more anxious is that I already wrote my second article too. This one is way more personal. It has my actual emotions and thoughts in it, and now I’m scared to publish it before understanding how indexing on Medium even works.

For context, I’m a technical content writer professionally, but I don’t want to only write technical stuff on Medium. I want to write about interesting things I come across, cultures I explore, travelling, automobiles, psychology, random street observations, deep thoughts, human interactions, basically things that make me feel something.

So I just wanted to ask people who’ve been writing on Medium longer than me:

Is this normal for a new account?
Did your first articles also take time to show up on Google?
Am I overthinking this or missing something important?

Would genuinely appreciate some guidance because right now I’m feeling a little discouraged.

TL;DR:
First Medium article not on Google yet after 5 days, confused if this is normal indexing delay or something I missed.

advice for someone returning to medium

hey guys im looking for some advice from experienced medium writers.

i used to use medium when i first started freelancing back in 2022, and have returned a few times but never really stuck with it. because i didnt ever post very consistently, i never earned more than 50 cents.

but im hoping to come back to the platform and post consistently because i miss blogging and want to grow my audience and reach as a writer.

any advice for how to come up with ideas for posts, how to stay consistent, earning expectations, etc would me much appreciated!! i usually write mostly lifestyle content and about music, freelancing, and my experience fiction writing. not sure if i should niche down for wider reach or stay in multiple?
