$3 for a single read

Every now and then, I’ve earned up to $3 for a single read of one of my articles. Is it a new Medium subscriber who signed up after reading my article? Or simply a reader who spent a lot of time reading the article? (last time succeeded it was an earning for an article that took 12 minutes to read.)

What do you think? Is there a way to figure out what happened, given that the usual earnings are just a few cents per read?

Medium ethics

It feels like Medium editors are 20-somethings who get triggered at every idea they don't want to hear. I write provocative articles, then people with anger issues flare up in the comments, and when I engage them, I get an email from Big Brother saying it's better not to argue.

Does anyone know who staffs their organization?

Search Over 2,000 Publications

Hello again,

I'm the guy that gathered over 2,000 publications and made them available in a database that was (is!) free to access: https://www.reddit.com/r/Medium/comments/1sbdqu5/2000_active_publications_with_submission_links/

I have now vibe-coded a nice website that uses that data and a few other data points like category. I've found it makes searching the database a lot easier, check it out!

https://publicationsearch.com/

Hope it's useful - feedback welcome.

Trying to improve my technical writing. Feedback appreciated.

I've been trying to get better at writing technical tutorials that people can actually follow instead of just explaining a concept.

I recently published a Medium article where I documented a project I built to automate the process of tracking new CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities and generating Sigma detection rules. It is a pretty specific cybersecurity topic, but I wrote it as a step by step guide with the goal of making it easy to understand and recreate.

I'm still figuring out what makes a technical article enjoyable to read, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback from other Medium writers. I'm more interested in hearing about the writing than the project itself. Was the structure clear? Did it keep your attention? Were there parts that felt confusing or unnecessary?

If you have a few minutes to read it, I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts.

Stop fighting and start to WRITE

I don't know why but I see a lot of people fighting against Medium, saying that it's impossible to grow and earn money and stuff like that. Bro, u didn't have almost three months writing and you start to betray yourself saying that? start to write and prove if works.

The Job Market Is Gaslighting An Entire Generation.

AI isn’t a danger what it’s what companies think it can do.

While headlines scream about AI replacing workers, the real crisis isn’t replacement—it’s anticipation. Companies are slashing junior roles not because machines are ready, but because they hope they will be.

The math is brutal: entry-level postings down 35% since 2023, yet 95% of corporate AI pilots deliver zero ROI.

So here’s the uncomfortable question no one is asking: If the technology isn’t working, why are we already firing the people who were supposed to run it? The answer reveals a corporate failure far deeper than any algorithm.

Early-career job postings are down 35% since 2023. But new MIT data shows 95% of corporate AI pilots deliver zero financial return. If the machines aren’t working, why are the junior jobs already gone?

Im sorry by my english, I don't want to use Google translate.

Well, In the past I created a Medium, and I wrote about a lot of things but nobody readed me, so I discover if I can focus myself on only one topic my medium grow. I started to write about narcisissm and I had 188 followers. But I stopped because I had some problems on my life and I didn't know what more can I say about Narcissism, so I decided to start again and now Im writing about Psychology, my medium is monetized, I only get 2 reads on my articles right now.

Any Indian using Medium membership plan?? How good is it?

Hey everyone!

I'm confused about whether the Medium membership is actually worth paying !

Does membership help with reach, or is it mainly for reading paywalled articles?

I'd love to hear from people who've actually used Medium especially students or beginner writers. Was it worth the investment?

I had no idea Medium blogs could rank on Google until a friend pointed it out.

When I first started writing on Medium, I honestly thought it was just a platform where writers publish articles and readers discover content within Medium itself.

Google ranking never crossed my mind.

A Few Days Ago, My Friend Shared a Screenshot Telling Me That Your Blog is Showing up on Google.

I was genuinely surprised.

That made me dig deeper into how Medium articles get indexed, how Google treats Medium's domain authority, and how writing around search intent can make a huge difference.

Any no-nonsense guides/strategies for growing your audience?

I've been trying different things. I have a handful of pieces on some publications as well. Except for one time where Medium randomly boosted one of my stories, none of my articles have made anything more than a dollar. Anyone else dealing with the same thing? Is it just not worth trying at this point? how long do you think I should go at it before I give up?

Most People Don't Need Another Side Hustle. They Need an Asset.

The saddest thing I see online isn't failure.

It's effort.

Massive amounts of effort.

Good people waking up early.

Working late.

Grinding.

Pushing.

Trying.

And still going nowhere.

The internet convinced an entire generation that freedom comes from finding the perfect side hustle.

Substack vs Medium vs something else for fresh grad trying to build portfolio

Hey everyone,

I just graduated from college, and I've been applying to roles for a few months without much success. Hiring managers are asking for some "evidence" of my research and writing skills, so I'm trying to build a portfolio of my work. I wasn't part of any on-campus papers or magazines, so I'm trying to turn some of my class papers into shorter, blog-style articles.

I'm currently subscribed to a few Substack newsletters, so I'm familiar with the format, but I'm not necessarily trying to build a following or earn money (though that would be nice since unemployment sucks). Just looking for a place I can direct potential employers to see my work. Any suggestions would be welcome, including recommendations for getting started.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Is it uncommon not to get accepted into Medium's partner program if you fit minimum eligibility requirements?

Sadly, I got a rejection within 24 hours.
