Re-Collection Log - Part 8 - A Treasure Trove of New Sets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Crew packs, Privateers' Lighthouse, Shark Escape, FORT DEFIANCE!!!!, and a SPECIAL combination at the very end!)
Hello everyone! I know its been a while since my last log entry, but that's because I had to take a bit of a hiatus there from collecting. But once I got back into it, I made some incredible purchases that really bolstered my collection! So today I have a LOT of stuff to show off.
Let's start off small and work our way up!
First, I was able to finally all four crew packs! Black Sea Battle, Lost Souls Invasion, Coastal Patrol, and Isle of No Return!
Nestor is one of my favorite figs in the series.
.
The Lost Souls are SO cool. I really wish we got more figs of them.
I actually remember getting this set as a kid. My grandma gave me and my brother this set + Isle of No Return as a surprise gift one day. We were at her house swimming in her pool, and she gave them to us to play with after it started raining and we had to get out.
\".... He's right behind me. Isn't he?\" Asked Provost Parrel.
.
I LOVE Morose and Stonestare. The blue hat and orange bandana are just so cool.
These crew packs are always super interesting to me. I think it really exemplifies the way prices change over time. The fact that each of these packs can go for 60+ USD sealed. When back in 2008 I bet you could find these in the bargain bin for like 4 dollars. It really makes me wish I could go back to those times and buy these sets off the shelf. As I'm sure everyone wishes they could do.
Here's also a little bonus! I've got two more figs from Lost Fortune secured for my collection! Horatio Highseas and Skipper Stegengh! I'm one step closer to having them all!
Next up is one of my most nostalgic Pyrates sets ever. One of my all times favorites....
SHARK ESCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a bit of a story regarding this set. When I was a kid, my family took a vacation to a spring side cabin. And on our way there, my parents stopped and bought me and my brother each a Mega Bloks set. I got Shark Escape, and my brother got Port Royal. We spent almost the whole vacation playing with those two sets over and over. Its genuinely one of my most nostalgic memories ever.
And here it is, finally back in my possession! Jonathan Juryrig is one of my favorite figs in the series. And I love the white monkey that comes with this set too! It also has SUCH a cool play feature. Being able to split the raft in half is the best.
Next up we have another set from my childhood! The Privateer's Lighthouse!
Wow. Just wow. What an absolutely stellar set. Anyone that has owned this baby knows just how great it is. I mean, a set with a WORKING lighthouse? How can you think that's anything but the coolest thing ever! Plus it has a SERPENT!? And the goat Carl Carbunkles!
I got this set on my birthday at Toys R Us. My brother thought it was so cool that he actually went and got his own version of the set to play with. So we had two of these growing up!
.Going from two sets that I had growing up, to one I didnt have!
Going from sets I had as a kid, to a set I DEFINETLY didn't have as a kid... As this is one of the rarest Pyrates sets to date. And one of the holy grails of collecting. But I lucked out again and found this for a STELLAR price on eBay! None other than....
FORT DEFIANCE!!!!!!!!!!! The home base of The Buccaneers!
This was a really cool steal I managed to find. It has some absolutely incredible parts. I love the blue Buccaneer flag and blue accents on the fort. The crocodile is also a really cool piece!
Funnily enough, the used set I got only had Peter Portside in it. But thankfully, I had accidentally acquired Theodore Twosails and Gary Gangrene in a different lot a while back.
Those are all the new sets I have in store for today. But, since I had Fort Defiance AND The Privateers' Lighthouse on hand..... I figured..... Why not have a little fun? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Its something that I've never seen anyone do before online. This is the first time I've ever actually seen anyone put this together....
The Fort Defiance and Privateers' Lighthouse Combo model!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hereby dub this model as "Cape Royale", and it is the main base of The Privateers! But oh no! Its undersiege by the Lost Souls, Buccaneers, and Skeleton Crew! I think I heard that the Sea Marauders were supposed to be here too..... I wonder where they ended up....?
Finn Hookswell is doing his best defending the cannons from those nefarious Buccaneers! But will Skipper Stegengh overpower him and take command!?
The main dock is overrun! Theodore Twosails, Provost Parrel, and Carl Carbunkles do their best to hold off the invading Skeletons and their ghostly allies! But things aren't looking good! Meanwhile Jib Hornswaggler tries to get the jump on Vestige!
The rest of the base fairs no better! Its absolute pandemonium as all the factions clash! Ghoullugger fights it out with Gaptooth Gorvinsky, while Spar Foreman fires a shot right at Gary Gangrene! Watch out for that croc!
Even the waters of the base are dangerous and frothing with foes! Peter Portside and Horatio Highseas find themselves in the line of sight of an angry sea serpent!
Oh.... Guess we found where the Sea Marauders ended up! Poor guys didn't even make it to the port..... Their raft was attacked and destroyed by a demon shark! Nestor, Gruffrey, Oliver, and Jonathan are going to have to put in all their wits and skills to survive this one!
That's all I have in store for you today! But I hope you enjoyed this treasure trove of sets! This is easily my BIGGEST Re-Collection log yet. And I can't wait to get even more sets to show off. Though I'm running out of things to buy..... There's just a few more I'm missing. And those sets are often the biggest, most hard to find.... But I won't give up! You can count on that much!
