NC1 Body Kits?

I'm looking for body kit options for my NC1. I'm really looking for something like the KBD kits for NA/NB cars, but having a hard time finding anything. I want flexible skirts and lips that would hold up to scraping when necessary and track use.

Really looking to achieve a lower stance without dropping the suspension further.

Any recommendations for sourcing a kit like this? Thanks!

Fitted Mazda aluminium pedals

Fitted a set of the Mazda aluminium pedals that I snagged on a well known internet auction site. Thwy look quite snazzy, though as you'll see from the second photo, no one will ever see them haha!

All those who have fitted the brake and clutch pedals, I salute you. Despite lashings of silicon spray, it was a bear getting them on. I would NEVER take on this unique and painful form of torture ever again!

Going for a drive this evening so will see if they feel any different underfoot.

Any recomendations for bucket seats that fit the NC?

Im moving the NC to secondary duty as "track only" shortly. It's been mixed use as road and track car for 4 years now. As a result I want to cater less to day to day comfort, and more for track utility.

Anyone running buckets that can recommend what fits. Fairly slim hipped and 34" waist means i fit into things like recaro pole position standard size OK, and used to be very happy in my caterhams Tillett seat.

More worried about clearing the door due to a too wide seat. Any pics with recommendations are most helpful!

i'm likely to fit a cybull roll bar to allow me to go down the harness route.

Weird engine rattle.

I really hate to be that guy but can someone see if they can help diagnose this rattle/ticking noise? I bought the car for cheap at ~110k miles but there was no issues with the engine mentioned, oil was about a litre low when i got it but filled it up quick.

After a few hundred miles a rattling sound started after a bit of ‘spirited’ driving to try it out and it’s stayed since.

The sound happens at idle when warm and at high revs it comes back and follows rpm but not audible at low rpm which i found odd.

I replaced the timing chain tensioner since i heard that was a common problem but noise is unchanged. (now has a bit of a rough idle but i think that’s unrelated vacuum leak issue)

Malian UEL Headers

Has anyone gotten this? If so how was the installation process?

MAF sensor cleaning made a big improvement!

Just wanted to comment in case it's helpful to anyone (particularly novice owners) else here.

I have an NC2 Sport with stock 2.0 and no engine mods. For a while, I was getting a bit of lugging when letting off the clutch, especially when cold. At times, the struggling sound would pain as I could envision it damaging internals. I'd slightly rev the engine a bit and slowly let out the clutch with some success, but none of this was ideal.

I thought the issue might be that I was running higher profile tires (Cross Climates) on larger rims (PF-01s) at a high altitude which affects the speedometer and was rubbing sometimes before I modified the wheel well skirts.

Anyway, before, investing in a second set of wheels and tires, I figured I'd try cleaning the MAF and throttle body. It was a super easy task, but requires a few precautions (such as only using MAF cleaner, ensuring it is completely dry before reinstalling, and not over torquing the screws). I accidentally bought two cans of MAF cleaner, so I used that on the TB, which probably wasn't very effective, but it didn't look very dirty anyway.

The thermistor was dirty on the intake side. After cleaning both parts, letting it dry for 30 minutes and reinstalling, I noticed an immediate change -- for the better. No more shuttering or hesitation! I was expecting some rough idle etc while the ECU relearns the clean sensor, but I didn't notice it.

Hope this helps!

NC Suspension Opinions

Looking for the best NC suspension for a GT car. I do lots of weekend trips around the south east on tight twisties.

Looking at the Goodwin long travel set up. Any experience? Anything better for similar money? I really don’t like to tinker with suspensions I want to set it and forget it. This car will never go to a track.

Early 2000s JDM Headunit from Japan

Not as convenient as a CarPlay screen, but hell the cool factor makes up for it. My AMP started making horrific noises so I decided to renew my entire audio system with Kenwood goodies while I was in Japan. Cost a small fortune for me but definitely worth the improvements in audio and aesthetics. It has cool audio visualizers and even the dolphin animations! I also listen to CDs a lot so another plus for me, though sometimes I do miss the old 6 slot for the CD.

Are door speaker baffles necessary?

I recently replaced my factory Bose speakers with Kenwood KFC RS-175 speakers, along with the rest of the audio system. After some research I found people were saying I needed some baffle/rain guard system in place of the stock one to protect my speakers from rain that drains through the doors, how necessary is this? If you’ve replaced them before and never had issues do let me know please.

Is this loose heat shield causing this rattle?

Hello, i have a nc2 from 2010 and hear this rattle roughly between 2000-2800 rpm but sometimes it even happens at below 1000. Is this heat shield supposed to be this loose, and is it causing that rattle? If so, how would you fix this? You can hear the sound in the first clip and see the heat shield in the 2nd one. The sound does seem to be coming from somewhere near the cat. Any help is appreciated!

Changed the radio. The "infamous" 10mm was still behind the radio 🫠

Wanted to change the radio since the previous owner never used the CD player and it apparently doesn't even work now after all these years. No problem. I already changed the radio in my other car (Nissan), what could be the problem? I was so wrong 😭

It's a 2013 (NC3). I thought I could just take the radio off and be done. Nope. Had to pry off the center console cover. Okay, easy enough. Oh and when I got that done, I had to find the teeniest screws under it to get the side panels out. Okay, we'll do that. It still wouldn't come out. So I guess that means I have the other one behind the radio. Oh boy, was I in for a treat. After a few hours of fidgeting, I was able to find a power tool to get it off for me. Putting everything back on was a breeze and I'd be lying if I said some screws didn't go "missing" either on purpose or not.

Safe to say, I don't think I'll be doing it myself again if/when I get another NC. I'll leave it for someone else to hassle with. I saw plenty of other posts of different forums of people talking about it being a PITA to remove but I had no idea until I actually got to it.

Before anyone says something, yes I did watch some videos and tutorials before I went to try and change it out. Admittedly, I may not have dug around as much as I should until I got around to it. Tbf, it's different seeing a video when you're chilling, vs seeing a video, following along and realizing "that's not the same as mine".

That said, I wish that any other fellows with an NC2/3 that plan to change their radio can have their 10mm bolt behind the radio conveniently missing when they go to change/upgrade their radio 🫶🏻

Wish me luck! Planing to home paint my Galaxy Gray PRHT + mirrors cover + spoiler

Sooooooo, I have an ambitious project: I wanna paint my PRHT Galaxy Gray that is very faded by the sun (also the mirror covers and the spoiler)

Am I crazy? I think so..

I’ll post the results! Wish me luck

Disclaimer: if it doesn’t work, well, I’ll wrap it as I was thinking to do anyways 🤷‍♂️

Was bored, fancied a change!

Was feeling bored of the plain silver interior trim. So decided to try wrapping in Alcantara to see how it felt. I quite like it. It’s a bit scrappy as it’s my first time doing a wrap, but it’s a decent
Proof of concept.

I also took a blow torch to the scratched A pillars to refresh them!

First service question

I need to get an oil change for the first time since buying this car (2008 with 90k miles) and I’m curious what would make the most sense. I had a pre purchase inspection before buying but would like to take this as an opportunity to get eyes on it again and maybe do some type of inspection while getting its first oil change to just give me a little more confidence.

Should I take it to a Mazda dealership ?

A local Miata expert?

A local mechanic

An oil change spot? (Probably not lol)

What do you think would be ideal

I know this is a small fry question and not a lot on the line, but given that all of these options exist around me, I’m sure there are cost x expertise considerations to be made here, Idno, probably overthinking it lol

Am i cooked?

2.0 nc, There was a similar sound before, but quieter. Oil pressure seems fine; it rises as it should when revving the engine.

What Coilovers should I go with?

Hello everyone,

My NC has h&r lowering springs with the stock bilstein some NC came with. Tho I don’t really like the springs and I think my shocks are also almost done for by the bouncing I have when driving over big bumps.

My question was, what would be the best go to for spirited daily driving. I don’t plan on going to track. I have looked into the MeisterR lineup but I don’t know which suits me the best. I don’t plan on spending more then $1200.

Does anyone have a good option for comfortable but spirited driving for a NC, I already have Yellow dot swaybars.

Equal-Length manifold

Has anyone tried/synod an NC using the Malian equal length. Nor a big fan of the Subaru sound on an NC and these look better than the 150-200 pound manifolds with the extremely short primary’s. These seem closer to an I.L motorsport manifold then a cheap eBay one but haven’t seen any reviews/talk about it. At almost half the price of an I.L these could be the better value.
