After posting about my male not leaving my lonesome girl alone, I remembered I did have another molly in my other tank! This is their first meet! “Hey guys, wait for me!”

Pretty sure my lyretail has some ich on her back fin, so I just started treating it :)

To separate or not to separate???

I’m pretty sure this lil lady may be giving birth soon, but just curious if you guys would advise separating her if the guy keeps banging her lol. I feel bad. Attached are screen shots from a video where he won’t leave the poor lady alone. I know I should have more gals, but they all died and I’m nervous to get more since the tank has been thriving for some time now. (Ignore the algae build up, I’ve been due to scrape) Also, I’m trying to keep an eye on when she may give birth because we have a YoYo in the tank and I’m sure he’ll just slurp up all the fry in two seconds.

Ideally I don’t want another tank tho. I did get one and now it’s just it’s own whole thing with shrimp and guppies and no longer a birthing/quarantine tank haha

I’m just hoping to have some babies survive. I do have a floating nursery thing but it’s not big enough for this molly. She’s massive.

Maybe the key is just keeping an eye out and trying to catch the fry if it happens… there’s lots of plants too.. but I’m more nervous of the yoyo.

Help!!

So, my pregnant mollie has had her fries and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to feed them also how long should the mother fish and how long should it take to have given birth to her fry and when should I move her back out of the breeder's box. She also gave birth to 11 and only 8 survived I thought there would be way more and this is also her first time having frys

Is my fat girl in labor?

She's going between glass surfing and resting at the bottom. I'm 99% sure she's about to pop, but I just wanna make sure 🥺

Molly fry were born in my tank! Did you intervene or let nature decide?

I managed to isolate my molly in a breeding box and she gave birth! These are the first fry I’ve ever had in my natural-inspired aquarium, and I’m honestly so excited.

When this happened to you, what did you do?
Did you separate the fry, feed them differently, add hiding spots, or just let the tank ecosystem do its thing? I’m curious how many people actually intervene versus letting the strongest survive naturally.

My roommate left behind his tank of fish. I don’t know what I’m doing

Pictures of the tank and what he’d been feeding it. I’m not a fish expert by any means but I definitely know that this is an issue. I definitely plan to remove the fish and siphon out the water then thoroughly clean tf out of this tank and the stuff in it. My question I guess is what the heck do I do about the sheer number of fish? There’s also 2 frogs, a snail, and a Pleco fish in here as well 🫠

Stock for a 55

So, I am upgrading my 30 gallon to a 55. I’m adding my fish from my 30 into my 55- and I have a lot of stocking space

I have currently
5 mollies
7kuhlis
2 Cory’s (ADDING TO THE GROUP)
1 nerite
Like 30 Molly fry I’m going to give to my lfs

What I want
I want to have a pair of angels- they are so pretty, but I’m curious on if they will be compatible
6-8 mollies
8 Cory’s
10 kuhlis
Cherry shrimp
2-3 nerites
Maybe a group of rummy noses or a schooling fish? I do not want larger tetras like white skirts, I’ve kept them before but I can’t find them anywhere else so I can’t have them

This tank will have multiple driftwood pieces, floaters, tiger lotus, vallisneria, anubias, parrotsfeather, ferns, and a lot more. I will have fluval stratum with multiple decently sized sandpits in different areas of the tank, and some under driftwood for secure areas to sift. I plant to have moderately hard water, with a temp of 77-78, with an HOB filter that has airline tubing separating it from the floaters.

The photo is so this will be seen more and so I can get some good advice

Molly Fish Mystery

I just got 2 Molly fish from a friend who thought they were both male. One of them is looking on the larger side as far as belly. I’m not sure if I’m feeding too much, or if a have a female and she’s pregnant. Also, does anyone know why the bigger one keeps following the suspected pregnant one underneath her? It’s almost like he is picking at her underside. Any thoughts are great! 👍🏼

Is this an injury or illness?

Just noticed on this guy. The aquarium is in transition as we had to move the entire 55 gallon last week.

Teenage mollies!!

Saw other people showing off their mollies they bred themselves and wanted to do the same! These are all between the ages of 2-4 months and i have some more that are nearly ready to go into the tank with the big mollies :)

Just bought her and she’s dying what do I do?

Ok she’s not dead yet, but she’s just sinking to the bottom, she’s breathing and flapping her fins but that’s all. She’s only in a jug right now because idk what it is that’s causing this. she hasn’t been put in the tank yet, only acclimated and added a bit of tank water after 20 mins of getting used to the temperature. The other girl that I got is completely fine and has been added to the tank. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help her!
If you need any other information just let me know!

Help! Adding mollies to my neon Tetras…

Why do I feel like they’re immediately going to be eaten by my tetras. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Picture in comments

update on the Albino project

theres a silver and black one randomly those are my runt babies, same thing with the orange with dark eyed (none albino also has 1 eye), thinking about holding onto that one see if i can get better quality versions of it. (the brown boring ones you see are half Albinos from a silver female😜)

but anyways here are the healthy juveniles that passes my criteria, strong body/frame and good sails (so far).

ive culled so many weak fry dont get me started, these are the strongest ones, ive had a lot of interesting colored ones but sadly they were weak and these are what im left with I also have other fry growing out but these fry are from Red male X yellow female, and my original females have slowed down with fry I dont know why, finally got a master test kit a few months ago and parameters seems to be great. im worried with one of my females she seems to be not gaining weight back unfortunately so she is being medicated and being heavily fed rn to see if i can get her back to breeding but i doubt it, like shes not terribly skinny but shes not as plump as before.all of my females seemed to have slowed down fry production in general so we’ll see where they go

did stress kill my molly?

I had this swordtail molly for about 8 months now and i’ve never seen anything wrong with her or anything till this morning. Shes very territorial so whenever I add a new fish I try to change the landscaping around. About two days ago, I bought a dalmatian molly and a black lyretail molly. I put them in a hospital tank to watch them for a few hours and noticed the two (who are from seperate tanks) liked eachother a lot and would stick next to eachother no matter what. After concluding they were good to go, I did a small water change on my 29 gallon and changed the landscape around and put my older swordtail in there with the two together with the light off. I noticed the two I recently added like eachother a lot and never really went near my bigger molly, as she would typically stay away from them too on the opposite side of the tank. I never saw anything too aggressive wise with their behavior. I wake up this morning after feeding them the night prior with everyone fine, to FIND her stiff and dead with her mouth open on the bottom of my tank, the other two fish perfectly fine.
