OVER 200 YEARS AND THIS CLOWN IS STILL CAUSING PROBLEMS LONG AFTER HE'S GONE!!!

The third image has pretty much all the relevant information. I don't really have to say anything. Just the fact that this guy has had such a long reach of what he's done is insane.

The only question left is WHY did these experiments continue? Who picked up where the mad doctor left off? Did he never stop? Did Itsy Bitsy, his assistant, continue the experiments and even pass it down to others due to loyalty to his master? Did Itsy Bitsy have descendants that became some people in Lazlion and later on Vermeil?

Capcom missed an opportunity to to make this Bastard to be the Main Monstie

Seriously though, it has uniqueness on it than always Rathalos one, except for the Part one. Unknown would make a great partner for the MC. They could also make them have a rivalry with the Valstrax where this bastard have a passive ability to disrupt the Valstrax Ambush, just like Falcons and Crows

Do Heroics Builds still work?

I wanted to make a heroics build for one of my monsties but because of royal monsters being the endgame I don't know if it'll work or not.

BEAUTIFUL...

Just thought I'd hope back in, just to run around for a bit..

In spite of the controversy surrounding the latest dlc and the general disappointment among the fans

We can all agree on ONE THING, the game is freaking GORGEOUS🌹(A photo mode would have been heavenly)!!!

Stories 2 Plot Point I just Realized

I'm going to add a spoiler to this, just because I realize that people may have not played MHS2 yet.

Anyway, following a data wipe where I lost my 60 hour save file, I started over and was getting back into it. But, then one plot point gets brought up and then immediately dropped, and I find it odd, because it undermines the Hunter's entire part of the story.

Ignoring that these Hunters are a part of a cult and probably wouldn't listen to reason anyway. How they learned that a specific egg was going to be where it was anyway is still baffling.

"Let's harass a bunch of Rathian nests until we find a random Rathalos Egg, that may or may not exist yet."

But, anyway, the plot point I am speaking off is how young Ratha is, like newly hatched young.

Constantly through the story, many people tell you that the Razewing Rathalos alone is the cause of the red lights, the pits, and the monsters going berserk. Okay, understandable, as most people who know the story of the light only have half of the actual story, like the Rutoh mural is literally missing the lower half of it.

However, these people keep saying that the Razewing is the cause of the calamity, but how exactly? These lights have been happening for probably 50 or more years and Ratha only hatched a month ago.

The last Razewing appeared multiple centuries ago, and was slain, and the lights are still occurring. And yet, despite everyone knowing this, the Rutoh Elder and everyone else who are after Ratha for being a Razewing, looks at this newborn, who was probably only lain like a few weeks before the story and go:

"Ah yes, this egg is the cause for everything wrong that has been happening since Red was a kid."

Wait a minute...

And Ena even fucking questions this! She asks a Hunter how Ratha, a Rathalos that hadn't existed before now, could even remotely be the cause of the Rage Rays.

AND SHE IS IGNORED!

Like no one who hears that stops to think, wait a minute, that is weird.

And this isn't even a situation where, oh the lights are getting worse, that means the Razewing has returned. No, they are saying that this Monster THAT DIDN'T EXIST YET, is somehow responsible for everything that has been happening for literal decades.

What the fuck Rutoh Elder, and you Hunters? It's a baby wyvern, fucking think for a second.

The cops took my boy away...

Playing MH2 for the first time and I have not been spoiled for anything. This is my first game in any Monster Hunter world and I am having a great time. I'm breaking into Kyle's house and standing over his bed until he gives me back my Ratha. KYLE count your days

I just use the Monsties that I like best. Favorite is Nargacuga. Kecha Wacha haunts my dreams but it's a unique design, better than the indigestion monkey...

Resolution issues on MHS3

I have recently bought the game on Nintendo switch 2 and have been having a great time. But I noticed that during most of the game so far that the resolution was quite bad, and makes some text unreadable, or very obscured. I was just wondering if anyone else might have had this issue, or knew how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unlocking Royal Monsters on LVL 46, Final boss (Hard difficulty)

I was hoping that I could still beat the fight while doing the previous challenge, that I avoid all optional things that give me any XP.

This one took me some time to realize that I can't actually do the fight without getting any eggs for better genes in the process, the dps check was just too high, and required way too much RNG, and I'm still not sure if it's possible.

After giving up on the original setup, I gathered some eggs for a dragon Ratha, fire Tobi and a fire Velocidrome build where I would set them up for the dps check with adamant rage and ate the attack meal (I did forget to give Velocidrome Fireball Frolic that almost made me lose the run, thankfully he still had another attack gene)

The gathered genes didn't really help in fight besides that, actually made the rest a bit harder since I needed to use turns just to setup for the last phase.

Here is the full fight and the setup, if anyone is interested in it.

Still conflicted on what's my opinion on the update is, the royal elders and invasives are great imo, it's just that the rest of the royals and the reward system for it falls flat. And it seemingly closing off the entire game makes it a bit sad.

What are y'all's opinion of the update now that the dust settled a bit, especially if you tried it out, I'm curious about it?

Inflicting ailments without relying on inflict rate up?

I have a question, obviously.

Usually with an ailment inflicting build I would go with inflict rate up and salt in wound, naturally, but... Is there a why to make a reliable built without it?

Using inflict rate up and salt in wound takes up two slots making them non-elemental and thus costing me eventual elemental bingos related to my monsties elemental type. It's kind of annoying.

Of course debilitating lilt would be an option but for an elemental bingo it kind of only makes sense on a water type monstie.

How much of an influence are the ailment inflict rates of skills itself really?

I haven't found a solution myself yet but maybe you did?

"We want players to fall in love with the monsters": Monster Hunter Stories 3 devs on a more mature story, Rathalos' role, and postgame

I thoroughly enjoyed MHS3, although I am aware of its drawbacks and the pain points that the community has brought up plenty of times. In this interview, I chatted about the story's themes, the NPCs, Rathalos, and more. Dropping the full interview in the body and the published URL in the comment.

Q. What inspired the devs to focus on ecological damage and human culpability in it with Monster Hunter Stories 3’s narrative?

Kenji Oguro: Naturally, since this was the third entry in the series, we knew we needed to differentiate it from previous titles.

First, regarding the overarching direction of the story, we decided early on not to write another 'coming-of-age story' like the first two games, but rather to depict a 'fully matured protagonist.' Meanwhile, in terms of game design, as exemplified by the Habitat Restoration system, we wanted to create an advanced form of the egg cycle.

As we balanced both these narrative and design elements, centering the game around Ranger activities is what ultimately solidified the direction for both the story and the gameplay. As a result, themes like monster habitats, ecological shifts, and the relationship between humans and nature are naturally integrated into the core of the narrative.

Q. The fleshed-out NPC Rangers and their side quests add delightfully to Monster Hunter Stories 3’s overall gameplay. I would love to hear about the inspiration behind the motley crew and what the devs hoped players’ reactions would be to them.

Kenji Oguro: Once we finalized the concept for the protagonist, we decided that instead of a style where you meet new companions one after another throughout the journey, this game would focus on fighting alongside an established group of allies, gradually learning more about who they are over time.

At its core, this game has an absolute, unwavering pillar: "We want players to fall in love with the monsters" [emphasis mine]. That being said, we also wanted to put just as much focus on the companion characters this time around. To achieve that, we decided to implement side stories as dedicated content.

From a development standpoint, rather than trying to make everyone love every single character equally, we would be incredibly happy if each player could find that one specific character and say, "This one is my favorite".

Q. Monster Hunter Stories 3 has a more mature and grounded story compared to the past two games in the series, coupled with a voiced protagonist. Did MH Wilds influence this change, or was this something the dev team always wanted to do, even before MH Wilds' development/release?

Kenji Oguro: This was not influenced by Wilds; rather, each development team considers the necessary elements and builds according to their own vision.

For this game, we decided that full voice acting was a necessity once the direction of the world-building and setting was set in stone. Unlike the 'coming-of-age' growth stories of the previous two entries, we decided from the very beginning that the protagonist of this title would be an 'experienced, veteran Rider', someone carrying a heavy burden.

With that kind of protagonist, we felt that having them express their own emotions through full voice acting would allow us to depict the story with greater depth and ultimately enable players to empathize with them on a much deeper level.

Q. Monster Hunter Stories 3’s monster roster is excellent, having something for everybody. What was the thought process behind selecting this list of monsters and the return of Yama Tsukami?

Daisuke Wakahara: When it comes to the monster lineup, we made our selections by looking holistically at elements like elemental balance, combat roles, a sense of familiarity for the series, and freshness. Rather than simply packing in numbers, we prioritized ensuring that every single monster has a distinct, impactful presence within the game's training and exploration mechanics.

As for Yama Tsukami, a major factor in its inclusion was not only its enduring popularity, but also our feeling that its highly unique ecology would translate incredibly well into the mechanics of a command-based RPG.

Q. Monster Hunter Stories 3 does a great job with its audioscape. Bringing back original soundtracks for several monsters added further to that experience. I am interested in hearing how it all came together from a dev perspective.

Miyata Yuko: In this title, many of the popular flagship monsters from the main Monster Hunter series appear as story bosses. In the mainline games, these monsters each have their own iconic, dedicated themes. We felt it would be a massive waste to have flashy, dramatic encounters without utilizing those specific tracks.

Therefore, we designed the musical score to maximize the charm of the original songs, putting careful thought into living up to the fans' expectations. The newly arranged original BGM tracks have turned out incredibly well, and I think a great many people will really enjoy them.

Furthermore, the story bosses in this game include monsters spanning from Wilds, Sunbreak, Rise, and World, all the way back to Monster Hunter 2 (Dos), which released 20 years ago. Because of this, tracks from both old and new eras of the Monster Hunter series coexist within the world of Stories 3. For longtime fans of the franchise, I believe this will make for a diverse and incredibly thrilling lineup of boss battles.

Ezoe Taichi: Additionally, compared to previous entries in the spin-off series, the graphics in this game have received a massive upgrade. Generally speaking, when adding audio to games with an anime-style visual aesthetic, the sound effects are often stylized or caricatured. However, in order to fully leverage the dense visual information on screen, we intentionally avoided over-stylizing the sound design for this title.

At the same time, doing only that would not let us fully capitalize on the game's graphical expression. Therefore, our overarching approach to the audio landscape was to lean into maximum exaggeration for the special effects audio, while simultaneously filling in the finer details with realistic, subtle Foley sound effects for the characters' micro-movements.

Q. Why did Capcom choose not to have a postgame for Monster Hunter Stories 3 at launch?

Daisuke Wakahara: For this title, rather than building out a massive post-game experience right at launch, we prioritized maximizing the quality and polish of the main journey leading up to the credits.

As an RPG, we felt it was vital to establish a rock-solid gameplay loop: progressing through the story, exploring fields, raising Monsties, challenging formidable foes, and driving toward the climax. When deciding how to allocate our development resources, we believed that increasing the density of the experience before the ending would benefit this particular game far more than blowing the post-game wide open.

Of course, we completely understand that there are players who look forward to endgame content, but for this project, our primary focus was the overall completion and polish of the game as a standalone RPG.

Q. Although it is the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Stories 3, Rathalos’ role in the overall game feels lacking. Given that Ratha cannot be removed from the party slot, this has been a common point of concern among players. What does the dev team feel about this criticism?

Daisuke Wakahara: We are well aware that there are varying opinions regarding Rathalos's role and the fact that he takes up a permanent slot in the party layout.

With Ratha, we placed a heavy emphasis on his positioning as the protagonist's story-driven partner. We designed him to always be right by the player's side, which includes his role in the late-game narrative developments and his relationship with the protagonist during the final boss battle.

Striking a balance between narrative focus and party customization freedom was a difficult dilemma, but for this title, we ultimately chose to prioritize that story-driven sense of companionship.

Another hot take. I actually like the post game/co-op dens from MHS2

They can all be done solo and offline btw. So anyone telling you that you HAVE to do online to farm for elder dragon/deviant eggs didn't pay attention.

But honestly, going back to it, I kind of like how its trying to replicate traditional monster hunter hunts. You got 1 hour to slay, and collect items/eggs before you are booted out, and it really actually give everything tension and since if you used an SR ticket you really don't want to use it. (And if you are having that much trouble you can just save scum.)

I think people's big issues is that they tend to do them back to back without taking a break or doing some of the other games content between them.

And while the evasion hunting horn is probably the safest, it's actually smarter to be a bit risker with hunts that require a time or turn limit. You even start to rely less on double attack spam near the end game so you got to manage taking damage ect.

My only issue with the dens is that I wish the game let you 'kart' a few times. Ergo, maybe let you wipe once or twice so it's not AS punishing to newer players instead of instantly ending everything the moment you wipe.

I mostly figuring this out since I jumped back onto MHS2 and been really enjoying it.

Like sure you can play the safe and slow way with double attack spam and evading hunting horn, but I feel like that is only really necessary if you are hunting 9 star elder dragons solo. (Even then you can most likely avoid more risk if you know the monster patterns with AOEs ect)

How do I get Reverto to stop skill spamming.

Im trying to the get the Trophy for seeing all Duo Kinships. And I can not get Reverto to go to level 3. Every time we get super close, he decides to start skill spamming.

Also, while im here. The game is saying I never saw the Dup kinship skill with Cheval. But I know for certain I have because I mainly used Ratha during Chevals chapter and made a point to look for it cause I was hoping a Rathian and Rathalos Kinship would be unique.

Advice would be much appreciated.
