Question about leveling up.

So what I've noticed so far is that DQ 3 is very much a 'classic' RPG in terms of leveling up.

What I've been doing is grinding gold (EXP is a secondary reward) for a new weapon or two. Sometimes new armor when the upgrades are worth it. (like I'm skipping the armors in the first area) but when the enemies get fairly easy to just mash through with little concern I move on to the next objective. This is how I tend to do things (Regardless of difficulty) and it seems to be working fine here. Just want to know ya'll's thoughts on this.

Questions about Party Members.

I'm playing the HD Remake, are there people that still 'share' their party? If so how does one access this feature? (Renting shared party members, I know how to share my own)

I'm still fairly early so I just got the 'starter' party members for now. But I'm curious when this system opens up more and how to make the most out of it.

Question about the Bit at the beginning?

I assume it's the goddess 'judging' you as the game implies, but does it come back later?

It seems, interestingly detailed for a little segment like this. I also wonder how many different possibilities there are. In both of my (unfinished) runs, I only ever killed the guy that you kill by 'accident' (I tried to spare him on my second run but sigh)

I am now Torn on what to do (Vocations)

So, my obvious goal is to level all the 'main' vocations from the first 'row'

But after that. No idea what I want to do, I know I want Dryad for Marribell.

But I'm still deciding what to put on the others (From the second row).

I also don't know if I should do any more 'grinding' for VP because right now I can just mash A through random encounters on Normal difficulty strength.

I Now have Moon Lighting Unlocked! (I plan to do a silly thing)

Said Silly thing is get all of the 'base' vocations (The first 'row' of them) maxed out on each character. For the 'advanced' classes, I'll likely start with the ones that make sense on the character first then decide if I want to do the others. I have EXP set to 'less' so I shouldn't be leveling too much farming the mobs where I'm currently at. I also don't know if I'm in the 'second half' of the game or not?

Question about unlocking new Vocations?

So now I actually have the ability to change vocations. And right now I'm working on leveling the new ones up. But question, for unlocking the 'advanced' ones does the combinations of ones make sense?

More 'silly' questions about stuff I 'should' know. (If you don't mind me asking ?)

Again, I cannot express enough that I am a 'filthy casual' with very little 'game sense' about this. So rather than make a thread for every question I've come up with a batch of quite a few that a 'beginner' would ask. (And hopefully not get laughed out of the room ? )

About Protect/Detect: Both moves do about the same thing, but some mons are capable of doing both, in this case which one would I go for? Seems silly to run both.

Berries: Way too many, I know what most of them *do* but not which ones make sense on what mon, at least not competitively. Obviously the HP recovery ones are the simplest. But then you have moves like fling to consider also.

Held Items: I know how to use some of them (Bright powder for snow cloak shenanigans, Iron ball for fling/gyro ball etc) but a lot of them are interesting. Like I've never used Iron Barbs before.

Moves that Hit through Fly/Dig: Again, I know a couple (earth quake, and thunder) but not all of them or if any of them are useful to have for this reason.

So...what Vocation for each character?

I am aware you can equip two at some point, but I'm soon gonna reach the point where you can freely change just the one.

Protag I'm not sure what to toss on him.

Marribel I'm thinking Mage and Dancer.

Ruff I have no clue. He gets a lot of Crits I've noticed so I could play into that.

I know an NPC who's getting his butt handed to him next time I see him...

Just got to the part where I can finally change Vocations.

Yeah no, bro is not going to be forgiven. Had to happen because of the plot, but even then lol

A "Mechanic" in DQ I've always been curious about.

So, there are VERY few instances of this in each game, but it happens in just about every one.

When the Goddess is speaking to the protagonist, they are inferred to be speaking to the 'player' also which, makes sense, cause Goddess and all.

But there's another instance of this that I'm curious about. When you save the game they say 'grant x person/child a peaceful respite' to me this is referencing BOTH the protag and the player? This makes sense to me as the priests are closer to the goddess and would have more 'awareness' than other characters.

I am curious if my interpretation of these is correct? Most other characters don't seem to have this level of awareness and speak to protag in-world. If that makes sense. Sorry for over thinking if I am lol I just wondered if that's the case, I rather like it.

How to Solve 'animal' Village in Present?

Pretty sure I've done everything I can do in the past. Present talked to the Monster. But I'm not sure what else to do there ?

I've done the silliest thing ever, and I have no regrets every time.

I named my player character 'My Dude' in reference to an old Ocarina of Time Let's play I watched ages ago.

And it's made me snicker (to be clear, not literally in case anyone's concerned lol) every time. I realize it's 2 year old with 1 Brain cell humor.

But other than the name showing up in the menu, it happens rare enough that I almost forget about it. I wonder if it'd be just as comical in the other games as well.

Silly Question about a Party Member?

So I know you use his 'sniffer' ability to find loot and such.

But is it only useful for locating mini medals? Or is there other goodies to find with it?

Started a New DQ7 R Playthrough and Question.

How 'leveled' do you think I should be for each ish area?

I've been leveling up until I can 'sneak attack' kill most mobs in the area, that seems to have me ready for the current boss. (Granted it's only the first one but I have monster strength set to hard)

Secondary Question: Is there a particular order I should go through the islands once the game 'opens up' cause I feel like this is one of those games that would 'sneak in' difficulty spikes like that.

Single coolest thing that you've done in either game?

Best I've done in BOTW is flurry rushing Thunder Blights zoomy move. While also fighting him without the feesh armor.

Best I've done in TOTK is getting majora's mask the first time.

Have Mega flower in the sixth slot, but never use it.

With all the memes about Mega Floette in regards to this game, could be a silly power play.

Big 'I'm only using 10% of my power' vibes.

For me Personally:

Zelda Meeting Bolston the first time, with link already knowing his personality. (I can just imagine Bolston and Link internally wheezing as Zelda deals with his personality for the first time)

Same Energy But Zelda meeting the guy who sells link the Gerudo Vai outfit. I don't care how she reacts but like, I imagine just about anything would be hilarious. (Especially if it's after Link Meets him and they both know how she is)

So, it's obvious that Rijuu knows, that much is clear. There's also the old lady in one of the back alleys of the town. But me and a buddy got to joking about how the rest of the town (Except maybe the masseuse and the guards) just kind of know. But they also know he's not up to anything 'nefarious' so they let him get away with it while he's wearing the 'disguise' he's wearing. I think it makes more sense than 'the disguise is working and the gerudo are just that unobservant' and it's also pretty funny lore wise too. Like imagine they're willing to make exceptions, so long as you 'behave' it also explains how the guy that sells you the outfit to begin with 'got away with it' too. Though we did joke about how thank goodness the wind is so still in that town.

It's clear what the game depicts as appropriate reasons to go into gerudo town too. Like that one guy being sneaky and trying to 'meet' the ladies is certainly uncouth. But Link is mostly a harmless 'goober' who just wants to help.

I've read it's description plenty of times on my single player adventures.

And I've never fully understood it's mechanics. The only thing I do understand is that it's somewhat valuable in PVP. But beyond that I dunno.
