Hey everyone, I’ve wanted to try MH for a while and grabbed this one on Steam since it’s on sale. I’m stuck on literally the second quest: The Great Jagras Hunt. I cannot for the life of me defeat this bastard. I initially chose the Insect Glaive as my weapon, but went back and grabbed the Katana, and still can’t do it. I think I’ve fainted probably 5 times while doing it. Can anyone give me any tips? I’m getting really frustrated and I really want to like the game, but I don’t want to spend hours trying to progress past the second quest.

I played a lot of HBG and Lance, and now, after doing a lot of Lance, I tried some HBG and Bows again, and it's a weird feeling - lots of poor hitzones... until tenderized, then most monsters start to melt (shoot spread 3 into Kadachi tenderized tail; or pierce 3 through it). On melee, the difference seems way smaller and not as essential - but also melee can't suddenly do a few times more damage than average, while ranged can (GS asterisk?). And sticky ammo became a thing mostly due to those hitzone values, clusters were a thing as well...

Velkhana without tenderizing on HBG seems a bit sad, apes - better go sticky, zinogres are also questionable, while melees at worst can run with mind's eye/ballistics to avoid some bounces on some monsters.

And then tenderize animation can be quite long for HBG with Wyvernheart vs Wyvernsnipe, which is still longer than Lance... and there are light weapons needing 2 attacks. And the skill ceiling is high for like the bow, allowing the DPS disparity to be even higher under certain conditions ;)

Also, does anyone use the special scope on HBG? Seems really hard to get benefits from it in real hunts when the monster isn't rolling on the floor crying ;) (yet best case scenario one HBG mod gives you +30%ish DPS increase)

Is it the curse of the clutch claw? How does it look in other games from the series (other than Wilds)?

Is anyone willing to help me grind some world, I am just now getting back into this game & still on the newer side really needing some help that’s all thanks 💫.

I need some help. In my 7 star quest I'm missing the "Rrrumble in the waste" I believe. I found out I could get that quest from Third fleet master, but she doesn't have an exclamation mark on her.

I'm deep in IB as well. Just beat Seething Battle Zeus. The fleet master is always standing beside the war room table in Seliana, and she's never present in her ship. Am I locked out of the quest? Right now my objective says to locate more Elder Dragon tracks...

So I'm currently​ at 180 hours of gameplay and this is my first gameplay. Despite that I'm still very lacking in decorations, the rng is simply not on my side..

After doing some research how to farm good decorations faster, i noticed some people recommend to use mods for easier/higher amounts of decorations per-quest​ which is so tempting to me, because currently i can't get past through Alatreon and Safi​​​ raid, i already built full set of Brachydium along with the GS and I'm still failing over and over again, i need proper efficient decorations for it.

So anyway what i want to ask is, does applying mods with N*xus safe? Can i get banned? Especially when I'm playing online (respond to SOS, etc).

And while at it can anyone give me a tip should i focus on Alatreon first or Safi first, because both monster unlocked at the same time idk which armor set/weapon from which monster needed first to beat the other one. And for GS user does Brachydium set is good enough to beat at least one of them?

I don't know if this is common knowledge, ir probably is, but I played the game for 300 hours without knowing it, I'm probably not the only one.

I didn't know you could wake them with a wallbang, I thought the monster would just finish waking up with the slinger shots. Also didn't know the charge would detonate the bombs since they sometimes run right over it.

It's hilarious every time. It works on regular monsters as well of course, not just elders, but odds are you'll just capture a sleeping monster.

Giving the game a replay now that I have it on PC am I current plan is to complete all of the base game content before moving on to iceborne, but ever since I killed Xeno Jiva, the game is trying to drag me kicking and screaming into Iceborne.

The Handler was yelling at me to do iceborne content after every quest, and I got so tired of her calling me "Pard" that I finally did so and now the music that plays while I'm in Astera has changed and the game is telling me to speak to the commander, but now I have a master rank I don't want and I don't want to actually do any iceborne content until I have milked everything I can out of the base game.
