Motorola Yacht?

Motorola Yacht?

Came across this in an old box of photos. Dad was a Motorola C&E salesman 70s and 80s.

Don't know the back story. Maybe he won a trip to Florida or something.

TRAK 9100 & GTR8000

Recently all GTR8000 stations experienced a momentary SCB Time Reference Failure at one site. There were no alarms for the TRAK in UEM. Has anyone seen this and determined a cause?

Help identifying this old Motorola mobile terminal

I believe it was part of either "Computer Aided Dispatch" or "Executive Security Systems". This image was from a 1978 slide deck (literally 35mm slides). There were some variations on this design, but all kind of like this with lights and pushbuttons.

I think "Modat" was a part of how this worked, but again my memory is fuzzy.

My dad sold these, but I can't remember what they were called. I'd kind of like to find one on ebay for nostalgia.

Thanks!

Capacity Plus Out Of Range Settings

Running an XPR7550e, firmware R02.09.00.0001, codeplug version 14.00.13, on CPS 16.0 build 828. Everytime I flip to a Capacity Plus channel/personality, the radio almost immediately displays the red "Out Of Range" banner without giving itself enough time to find the rest channel first.

Is there a timer setting to make the radio wait longer before thinking it's out of range? I also want to make the radio bonk sooner and more frequently when it is (really) out of range, as it waits about 2 minutes before the first bonk and only bonks about once every minute after that.

XPR5550e intermittent mic issue

The mic on my 5550e only recognized by the radio and transmits when the strain relief is pulled a certain direction, I’m fairly certain the problem is on the microphone and not the port on the radio because I don’t have an issue with the PC cable. I guess my question is, can this be fixed or is the mic toast?

Motorola XPR 3500e programming

Hello, I am trying to reprogram a bunch of XPR 3500e Motorola radios. I am trying to make an all call channel. I have four channels with different frequencies already in each radio, trying to make a fifth channel as an all call channel that can transmit on the four other channels without having to turn to each channel to transmit. Have seen there is an emergency call option but don’t understand how to do this? Again they all have different frequencies on each channel with a contact for each channel and frequency and a digital Rx as well for each channel. I am using CPS 2.0, simplex frequencies no repeater. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

XPR7550e 9-Year Old IMPRESS Batteries

So does the top part "Rem. Capacity:" 88% mean that I have 88% left remaining on the current charge? And the "Service Life:" 97% at the end means the overall battery health is still at 97%? Right or wrong? If so, I find this hard to believe, considering the battery is almost 9 years old.

I just had the radio aligned at a local radio shop and they recommend getting new batteries, but I'm debating if I really need to.

XTS5000 trunking issue — do I need a system key?

Hey everyone, I recently got a Motorola XTS5000 and I’m trying to program it with Astro 25 CPS, but I’ve hit a wall.
I understand the basics of setting up channels, but when I try to program a trunked system, CPS won’t let me continue because it says I need a system key.

Mototrbo Scan Question

So I was under the impression that even though a channel is in "scan list 1", for example, you still need to assign the list on the channel as well. I'm trying to figure out if this is possible. To have 1 channel BE SCANNED on every channel except for that 1 channel. Then when on that channel be able to scan all of there other channels. Word salad i know. Basically Channel A-E will only scan channel F but when you're on channel F to be able to scan channels A-E. I didn't think this was possible because you need to assign the list to the channel in order for it to be scanned.

Employment question (US)

For corporate, non customer-facing roles, is a drug screen (thc) typically required? Would appreciate insight from someone who recently went through this.

Wave subscription and allocation.

Holy hell, how could a team developers make something so simple into something so convoluted and so complicated and unnecessarily difficult. Who are these folks that sit in these rooms and try to design these systems? Have they even ever used the system? If you know, you know, if you deal with WAVE PTX at the subscription system, I’m sure you’re feeling the pain that I am. Particularly when you’re a reseller.

Good grief, Charlie Brown.

Reverse engineering Motorola PMKN4012 DS2433 EEPROM dynamic bytes

Hello everyone,

I am researching a Motorola PMKN4012 USB programming cable.

The cable contains a DS2433 1-Wire EEPROM. I am trying to understand how Motorola generates some dynamic EEPROM bytes from the DS2433 ROM ID.

I have dumps from working original cables and found that two bytes in the EEPROM appear to depend on the 1-Wire ROM.

Sample 1:

DS2433 ROM:

23 34 1A CD 01 00 00 57

Family:
0x23

Serial:
341ACD010000

CRC8:
0x57

Dynamic EEPROM bytes:

Offset 0x44-0x45:

E8 E3

-----------------------------

Sample 2:

DS2433 ROM:

A3 B1 20 C0 00 00 50 15

Family:
0xA3

Serial:
B120C0000050

CRC8:
0x15

Dynamic EEPROM bytes:

Offset 0x44-0x45:

40 6D

I am trying to determine the algorithm used.

Possible inputs:

- DS2433 ROM ID
- serial number
- ROM CRC8
- hidden key / hash / checksum

Interesting offsets:

0x44-0x45
0x54-0x55

I have already tested a simple CRC16 idea, but I would like to find the real algorithm.

Does anyone have experience with Motorola PMKN4012 cables, DS2433 EEPROMs, or 1-Wire authentication schemes?

I can provide full DS2433 dumps and additional samples for analysis.

Thanks!

What are the actual differences between these two o7 heads?

Is it really just the labeling on the keypad? The L&S one has a blue dot but all the spec sheets I can find for o7 say they do NOT support the Bluetooth quick pair or whatever it’s called. TIA

Minitor 4 Pager issues

I got a motorola minitor 4. I got no clue what happened but it wouldn’t receive any transmissions.
So upon further inspection if I were to shake or squeeze it then it would receive temporary.
I have taken the motherboard out and looked but didn’t see anything. It turns on.

Any advice from anyone. I am thinking of just giving up since i got no knowledge about these pagers. Thanks

Amplified PTT using dynamic mi headset with Motorola R7/N70 or APX4000/6000/8000?

Like the title says, I want to run a dynamic micrphone headset (Peltor Comtac) with the Motorola R7 / N70 etc series, also with the Mororola APX series (4000 / 6000 / 8000). I know with older radios it is generally advised to run an amplified PTT otherwise you get low volume transmit audio, but what about these newer radios? I'm getting conflicting info from different cources.

Comms Gear Supply seems to market amplified and non-amplified versions of their PTT's for the APX series, but only one PTT for the R7 / N70 / Ion series which they claim works equally well for dynamic and electret mics. I am assuming it is non-amplified and the radio itself is smart enough to boost the signal?

Disco32 makes Amplified and Non-amplifed versions of their APX wired Speaker Mics, so again I'm assuming the APX benefits from an amplifier. For the R7, they are only offering their Constant Able auto switching PTT, so no help there.

Sheepdog Comms makes amplified and non-amplified versions of their tactical PTT's for both the APX and R7/N70 series.

Does anyone know for sure?
