CPS 2.0 on Microsoft Surface

I’m getting into radio programming and I’m currently running CPS 2.0 on a super old shitty windows PC I have that’s been collecting dust for quite a while. I’m curious if CPS 2.0 can run on a Surface and if it can, which surface(s) are the best to look out for in terms of deals. I have other programs that I can only run on windows that I use for school/work/etc so I wanted something portable, can take notes on, etc. My dad has a surface and I like using it, so I wanted to get my own as long as it’s compatible with CPS. TIA

Course Entrance Exam

I am currently applying for medic school and have my written screening exam coming up. We were given a small study guide by the school of what to expect: anatomy, scenarios, math (fractions, long division, multiplication, solving for x and y), reading comprehension, and “affective domain” to test how you react emotionally.

I feel like I’m prepared, but not? I don’t want to not study and go into the test cocky but I also don’t really know what else to study. I brushed up on my A&P and math (haven’t done math in like 3 years) and feel solid on scenarios and reading comprehension. Anyone else take course entrance exams and have any advice?

FDNY Culture

Must preface this by saying I do not work for FDNY, but I have a friend who does. He is newer to FDNY, after finishing their “academy” he’s been there for about 8 months. He was showing me tons of pictures on his phone: pictures of patients having mental episodes, their feet, patients puking, etc etc. If anyone works at FDNY, is this normal? He said he and one of his regular partners both have tons of these pictures of patients. I was baffled at the HIPPA violations on his phone.

Mongoose Status (?)

This is up for $150 on my local marketplace. Description says it was recently tuned, greased, etc. A few random extras. Worth it?

Mongoose Durham

I had a Trek street bike that wasn’t doing well riding in the preserve near me or the numerous potholes in the streets and on the sidewalk because the tires are so small. I went on marketplace to get a bike with bigger tires and bought (what I thought) was a good bike for $120. It had a little bit of rust but nothing crazy. I took it to my LBS and they said all that needs to be replaced currently is the front right gear shift and the front derailleur.

I’ve been doing research on parts to buy and if I should get rid of the front left gear shift and front derailleur and just have the 8-speed but I feel like I definitely got ripped off buying this bike. The cassette, rotors, and chain are mildly rusted but nothing crazy. The front forks have some rust but I don’t want to buy new ones yet. Any suggestions?

Second-Hand Smoke

I work and volunteer as an EMT and just about everyone vapes, smokes cigarettes or cigars, or does some combination of the two. Prior to becoming an EMT and joining this environment, I hadn’t even thought about vaping as being something I’d do.

I’ve reached a point where I’m thinking about vaping a few times a day. I have never touched a vape, cigarette, cigar, never had nicotine before. I don’t know if it is some sort of weird psychological social aspect or if it is second-hand vape smoke (if that even exists) but I can’t find many Q&A about this on google.

I was thinking of getting a no-nicotine vape just to see if that will soothe whatever craving my brain is having? On a normal day at work or volunteer I could be around someone vaping for a few hours. Even if I ask them to do it somewhere else, there’s so many people that do it I’d never be able to ask everyone.

Any advice would be appreciated because I’m at a loss. TIA

New York State Paramedic Books

I will be going to medic school starting this fall and I wanted to get a head start on studying per the advice of a few people in my fire department who have gone to medic school. Some of them were so long ago they don’t remember what books they used and said the ones they used were probably outdated by now. I’m just looking to see if anyone knows what books are currently being used in NYS paramedic classes so I can get a jump on studying them. TIA

Climbing + Working Out

I have recently taken up indoor bouldering (and top rope) and love it. I go once or twice a week for 1-2 hours at a time with 5-10 minute breaks in between routes while my friends run it.

I work as an EMT/Security Guard so I used to workout 6 days a week but with climbing I’ve only been working out for the 1-2 climbing days then one or two random workouts. I’ve been trying to find a routine that is a little less time-consuming but still helps me balance everything out. Any tips would be appreciated

Advice on Buying a First Car?

I am currently in the market for a new car after driving my dad’s for the past few years. I make enough money to comfortably afford a car around $40-50k. This post is not asking advice on insurance or registration prices.

I’ve wanted a pickup since I was a kid. I have a lot of stuff in my car due to my work that would be easier to put in the bed and not take up back seat and trunk space. If I were going to buy a pickup, it would be a Tacoma. There’s also the option of buying a hybrid.

I am not specifically considering buying an EV to save on gas prices but it’s been a thought because why not. I drive anywhere from 40-60 miles round trip for work every day. So I’d be saving quite a bit on gas (I think). I’d have an outlet installed on my house (not a supercharger) but I also get free “gas” at my volunteer fire department. If I go to the gym or head there for a call, it could charge for an hour or two.

I currently drive a ‘17 GMC Terrain. Dashboard says it’s averaging around 19mpg but the highest average was 25. Gas is about an average of $4.10/g where I am currently. Just looking for some insight on price differences, environmental sustainability, maintenance expenses, etc. Advice is appreciated.

Adding Vegetables to Meals

I work in EMS & security and normally have around a 10 hour day. Sometimes 7-5, 8-6, 10-8, etc. This is where the bulk of my calories get eaten for the day, then I go home and have dinner.

I meal prep different types of burritos. The ingredients all together are $40 usually but depending how prepped, size, and other differences it can make 16 burritos. These are easy for me to microwave in the morning, wrap in tinfoil, and throw in my lunch box.

I am trying to add more vegetables to my diet to have a lunchbox full of healthier and filling food. I don’t eat many vegetables (carrots, asparagus, broccoli) so it’s hard sometimes for me to get them into my meals. I am already planning to have carrots with a small side of dressing but wanted to pack broccoli as well. I normally eat broccoli warm when it’s soft and don’t like broccoli cold when it’s hard. My issue is I’m not really sure how to pack the broccoli and keep it somewhat warm until I eat it, which could be upwards of 6 or 7 hours. Any advice is appreciated.
