im LOVING the kompakt but find myself locked to my phone mainly for:
-uber (needed)
-apple pay
-find my
-and random stuff like the line scooter or parking apps
what have you guys done about these problems? can I do some on computer or should I give up any like I’m giving up Spotify?

Trying to transfer audiobook chapters (MP3 files).
One file transferred via drag and drop (PC) but took a long time.
No additional files would transfer. Transfer starts, says will take 10 minutes, and then after a bit of progress on the transfer bar, the file transfer just aborts.
Tried rebooting MK, rebooting computer, copy and paste instead of drag and drop, nothing seems to work.
Phone just received, already updated to version 1.4.0. USB settings in phone set to file transfer.
Is it normal for a 12 MB MP3 file to take 10 minutes to transfer? Since it's new, trying to figure out what is normal vs what is a device defect.

I really want to use this phone but there seems to be zero consensus on if it will even work on a specific carrier.
I currently have an iphone 15 on Verzion, esim only.
I'd pick up a T-Mobile account to use this phone but seems there is still no guarantee it will work. You can order a pre-activated sim card from t-mobile but I see reports that might not even work. I don't simply have a spare phone lying around that I can use to activate a sim and I think it's ridiculous to buy a phone just to do that. I also see talk of having to work with support to get them to do special things to get the phone working. I have about zero confidence that any support person will actually be able to help with this. They are activating 99.999% supported Android and iPhones all day. They don't care about this device at all.
Is there any 100% guaranteed, officially supported way to get this thing working in the US without jumping through hoops.
Edit: Thanks for the responses. I ordered the phone and a pre-activated SIM for T-Mobile connect. I am in the central New Jersey area and will report back once everything comes in.
The poor camera quality sort of gives off a retro vibe. Plus coming home and plugging it into the computer in order to view them is a cool nostalgic event in itself. There’s a certain charm to this phone despite all of its flaws. That being said, I do hope Mudita will make an updated Kompakt with a higher water resistance rating, a better camera, better speakers, and a higher resolution e ink display (mostly for reading). Overall I’m happy with the phone after a week of using it as my main phone (my iPhone stays at home for banking apps and other tasks)
I have mint mobile and I did the eSIM.. I can call and receive call, I can send texts but I can’t receive texts. My rep says I need to get a physical sim.. but I don’t think I do?
the title basically. I think WhatsApp drains a lot of my battery, and is generally a sore to navigate because the graphics are not meant for an e-ink phone. Is anyone aware of an e-ink friendly app that I could connect my WhatsApp account to?
My YT feed has been showing me videos on the rumored iPhone flip(one video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrpFdy9rz9s). The supposed size of that thing has been my wish as it reminds me of the Filed Notes Notebook size (see attached pic).
If ReMarkable - or maybe Mudita - could come up with a model of this size, I would 100% support. I recently bought the RM2, and I love that thing. I just wish I could put it in my pocket. The Paper Pro Move is still too big for me. Plus, I would only want it in black and white. Just putting this out there in the Universe 🙏🏽 hehe
A device that you can use to jot down your thoughts, an e-ink device that doesn't emit blue light, and a device that allows you to turn on the airplane mode so you're not exposed to EMF pollution + safeguarded from being potentially distracted from the internet, social media, etc. would be awesome!
Edit: I realize RM does not give you the option to browse internet or be on any apps. When I mentioned the ability to turn on the airplane mode, I was thinking of the other company, Mudita. I have their Kompakt, and that device allows you to be completely offline with their offline toggle switch. Though RM tablets have the airplane mode as well.

Long story short: I've had this phone since the beginning of January and it's the best purchase I've made in years. Yes you have to tinker with it a bit to get it to work the way you want, but I haven't had any serious issues. I don't sit and scroll on my phone anymore, period. I like that things often load kind of slowly. It makes the third party browser I have even less interesting, but lets me keep it so I can look up some store's hours or whatever it is I need to know.
This phone is exactly what a phone should be and two friends of mine switched to MK after they saw mine. Great work, Mudita!

I hate the feel of plastic and silicone, anyone know of any cases for the Kompakt made of leather or any other "natural" materials? Preferably not a flip/booklet style case
My Dad keeps sending me messages but he is unable to send them to me. It says on his phone message failed to send? Any ideas?
I downloaded aurora store and from that some apps. What do I do now to remove aurora store but keep the apps?

I tried InkOs but too much swiping to my taste. So I stick with the stock launcher for now. I installed F-Droid for the following apps: Aegis (2FA), BitWarden (Passwords), Librera (e-reader), Molly (Signal), Wikipedia, MuPDF, Aurora (for WhatsApp and Garmin Connect).
The stock e-reader is really bad: the text is gray and no ability to use volume up/down to switch pages. Librera is awesome in comparison.
My bank app doesn't work, but that's expected. I still have my desktop for that.
Couldn't justifiy 400€ for this device but for 175€ it's a no-brainer, love the e-ink!
PROBLEM SOLVED: I updated to MuditaOS K 1.4.0 and the Mudita Center now works!
MK is plugged into my Mac. I click on 'manage files' on the Mudita Center then the app goes blank. Has anyone encountered this before?
Is there a way to take a screenshot too?

I'm considering getting a Kompakt but it's unclear if it functions in Australia. The website says it doesn't but other reddit users have said it does with Optus. Australian providers will discontinue cell service if a mobile doesn't or can't make emergency calls so if anyone from Aus here would be great. Just looking if anyone can give confirmation before I shill 400 bucks.
