Now available on Android and Google TV - Multiview 1.5.0 - IPTV, cameras, Plex/Tablo/HDHomeRun DVR Library, and more

The same functionality recently released for iOS and Apple TV is now available in the Google Play Store for Android phones, tablets, Android TV, and Google TV.

Library: Browse and watch supported Plex movies, shows, episodes, and recordings, along with supported Tablo Gen 4 and HDHomeRun DVR recordings. Library content includes artwork, show and season browsing, playback progress, and resume support where available. Library management actions such as deleting recordings are not currently available.

IPTV: Add an M3U playlist or connect using Xtream Codes. M3U sources can also use optional XMLTV guide data.

Cameras and live feeds: Add compatible RTSP, RTSPS, HLS, HTTP, and HTTPS feeds. Supported ONVIF cameras can expose pan, tilt, and zoom controls when an ONVIF port is provided. Camera audio can also be continuously monitored in a multiview while another source remains selected for primary audio.

New navigation: Android phones and tablets now have separate Home, Guide, Library, and Layouts sections. The new Layouts page provides a dedicated place to create and manage saved multiview setups. Android TV and Google TV have also been reorganized around easier access to Home, Multiview, Guide, Library, and Settings.

Channel management: Channels can be favorited, hidden, and managed by source. This is especially useful for IPTV sources with large channel lineups. The Guide can also be filtered by category, source, or playlist group.

Multiview is a player rather than a content service. It does not provide channels, IPTV playlists, media, or subscriptions. You must connect sources and content that you’re authorized to access.

Given this is a large update, feedback is especially welcome. Specifically interested to hear how the Library organization, IPTV and camera setup, channel management, and new navigation work with your particular combination of devices and sources. Large IPTV sources are likely to be a bigger source of feedback - please keep it coming.

Feature requests and bug reports are welcome. If reporting a problem, please include your device model and Android version when possible.

Can I combine things with this app?

Can I combine my HD Homerun m3u playlist, with another m3u playlist and pick and choose what channels I want active?

Does this app not automatically select all the channels and let you select the channels you want manually saving you a lot of time?

Multiview 1.5.0 is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV - IPTV, cameras, Plex/Tablo DVR Library, and more

Multiview 1.5.0 is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Multiview originally focused on watching multiple HDHomeRun channels, then expanded to include Tablo and Plex sources. This update expands the types of sources it can work with and reorganizes the app around managing them.

Here’s what changed:

  • Library: Browse and watch supported Plex movies, shows, and episodes, along with supported Tablo Gen 4 DVR recordings. Library content includes artwork, show and season browsing, playback progress, and resume support where available. HDHomeRun DVR content not yet supported but is planned. Library management activities like deleting recordings are not currently available.
  • IPTV: Add an M3U playlist or connect with Xtream Codes. M3U sources can use optional XMLTV guide data.
  • Cameras and live feeds: Add compatible RTSP, RTSPS, HLS, HTTP, and HTTPS feeds. Supported ONVIF cameras can also expose pan, tilt, and zoom controls when ONVIF port is provided. Live camera feed audio can be continuously monitored in a multiview, even when audio is focused on a different source.
  • iPhone and iPad navigation: The app now has separate Home, Guide, Library, and Layouts sections. The new Layouts page provides a dedicated place to create and manage saved multiview setups.
  • Channel management: Channels can be favorited, hidden, and managed by source. Easily hide all channels and opt-in for sources with more channels than preferred. The Guide can also be filtered by category or source.

Disclaimer: Multiview remains a player rather than a content service. It doesn’t provide channels, IPTV playlists, media, or subscriptions - you must connect sources and content that you’re authorized to access.

The corresponding Android and Google TV update is nearly complete, and assuming the remaining testing goes as expected, should be available within the next few days.

If you try the update, I’d be interested in feedback on the Library organization, channel management, and how the new navigation works with your particular combination of sources. Feature requests welcomed.

Edit: 1.5.1 now supports HDHomeRun DVR
