First episode on Japan today

Just found out that Shibuya Aki left NHK to join Japan today. She worked on Tokyo Fashion Express from 2012-2015

Newsroom Tokyo from 2015-2015

NHK Newsline 2025-2026

It's a bit sad that she left, but it's nice that she's still going strong at her new job

I have theorised to myself for quite some time that she was meant to stay on Newsroom Tokyo and the show was meant to extend its runtime, etc. but due to NHK taking advantage of a 30-minute broadcast (rebroadcasting segments in Newsline to reduce costs), or just funding issues. They instead brought News 7, knowing it would be a good decision in the current world; this would also reduce costs for NHK if Newsroom Tokyo went back to old timings because of this. Shibuya moved to Newsline for In Focus, as she had previously presented it for Newsline in Depth and Newsroom Tokyo. When complex things happened, Rina left Newsroom Tokyo and went to International News Report 2026. I believe Aki was meant to come back to Newsroom Tokyo, but something happened inside NHK that made her leave and go to Japan Today.

It makes sense due to her age (49) and that she wants to have more freedom in her life(in my opinion)

I really like this station which is a part of my local public TV broadcast.

In April 2017 I was waiting for my family to get readyvtonleavecthe house and I put on NHK. There was this anime movie playing and I got really into it, but then had to leave the house. A few days later when I tried to find the movie, nothing was listed that I could see.

Does anyone know if a list of movies played in 2017 exists? I just woke up dreaming about it, though I cannot describe it.

My partner and I loved the Menton, France episode of Somewhere Street and wanted to watch it again, but it looks like the YouTube videos were taken down.

Does anyone know where it’s available now? I’d really appreciate any leads, especially if there’s an official place to stream it.

We mostly want the full episode, not clips. Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know why?

In the NHK app on my TV, if I select the live stream, it constantly shows programming, the same way it did when I received NHK over-the-air.

However, I can’t stand the hardcoded subtitles that, not only severely lag behind, but also take up entirely too much space in an awkward spot on the screen.

So I decided to give their YouTube livestream a shot. When the news is on, it plays that with no problem, without hardcoded subs, but then when other programming should be showing, it just airs stock/bumper aerial footage of Tokyo with a red ticker that reads “NHK World Japan programming will resume shortly” until the next time the news airs.

Does anybody know what is up with this?!

The NHK app should at least give us the option to turn off the subtitles.

Ugh, I severely miss the over-the-air broadcast…

Hey hopefully some folks on here can help me. I'm trying to track down a specific episode of a show called Kawaii International that apparently a friend of mine was in. I know that it was pre-covid, probably 2018 or 2019, that they tried onigarazu and talked about lolita fashion, but not much else. I know that isn't a ton to go on, but if it sounds familiar to anyone I'd appreciate getting pointed in the right direction.

Right now I'm working through some episodes I found on internet archive, but it doesn't look like the whole thing is up there. Looking through this subreddit I've found some links to downloads that don't seem to be working anymore, so if anyone around has some episodes from that time period they'd be willing to share I'd super appreciate it! Thanks!
