Hello fellow NJ pew pew owners!

My wife and I become gun owners back in Feb and conceal carry. We go to the range once a week and shoot around 300 rounds with our 9MMs. Would love to shoot my Geissele Super Duty more but its a little over kill indoors.

Our range toys

Staccato XC

Kimber 2K11 Target

Geissele super duty MOD1 5.56

Our carries

Smith and Wesson Equalizer performance center comp

Sig Rose P365

All with accessories. We have about 11k rounds of 9MM , mostly Federal mixed with S&B and Magtech. I really enjoy using Syntech but its become pricey.

Really wish NJ wouldn't have a silencer ban so I can enjoy the super duty more while in doors. Hard to find an outdoor range here that you can go for the day.

Since we used up our firearm permits for pistols, ive been looking into rifles that shoot .22 like the Tippman arms M4 pro that I can use in doors. Any suggestions that wont require another firearms purchase permit?

Did something change in NJ purchasing of part for rifles in 2026?

Try purchasing a Griffin Armament BCG for my AR. Look like some vendors aren’t selling to NJ customers. Did something change in NJ gun laws lately?

Kimber Pepper Blaster II legality question

Before anyone suggests that I email the NJSP, I did. They're response was to just send me the legal definition of a firearm in NJ and it had so much snarky energy to it.

Is there any clear definitive answer on whether this is legal for carry and purchase without permits? The reason I ask is that the definition of a firearm:

"Firearm" means any handgun, rifle, shotgun, machine gun, automatic or semi-automatic rifle, or any gun, device or instrument in the nature of a weapon from which may be fired or ejected any solid projectable ball, slug, pellet, missile or bullet, or any gas, vapor or other noxious thing, by means of a cartridge or shell or by the action of an explosive or the igniting of flammable or explosive substances. It shall also include, without limitation, any firearm which is in the nature of an air gun, spring gun or pistol or other weapon of a similar nature in which the propelling force is a spring, elastic band, carbon dioxide, compressed or other gas or vapor, air or compressed air, or is ignited by compressed air, and ejecting a bullet or missile smaller than three-eighths of an inch in diameter, with sufficient force to injure a person.

The bolded sections to me say that if it uses pyrotechnics it covers "igniting of flammable or explosive substance" and pepper gel is a "noxious thing." So would that make this a gun so far as NJ is concerned?

Ordering Online Without Contacting FFL

Looking to take advantage of some of the Independence Day sales and have a firearm shipped to an FFL. I sent out a few emails earlier in the week seeing if an FFL will accept the transfer and I thought I'd get a response back by now haven't. If I were to order and have an item shipped to an FFL without receiving confirmation that they will accept it, how likely is it that the item will get returned? Looking to place the order today or tomorrow while the sales are still active. Any north jersey FFL recommendations are welcome.

Can New Jersey chose to classify an AOW as a pistol.

So let’s just say for the sake of example, I registered a gun as an AOW that had a folding vertical foregrip and I primarily used it in the folded in position where it was not being used as a vfg could New Jersey then choose to reclassify that as a pistol and argue since I’m not using the vfg it’s actually designed to be shot with one hand or would it just fall into the case like braces where you’re just misusing something that was designed another way?

Process for changing address on FID?

Moved within nj and want to update my fid to the new address. Not sure what’s involved in doing that. I updated my drivers license to the new address but haven’t requested a new one be sent yet because I want to upgrade to REAL ID and I figured I’d get two birds stoned at once and do both at the same time in person. Current DL has old address. Is that going to be a problem ?

Mental health records wait time NY

Hey I'm in Bergen County (Paramus), I submitted my app 4/15, prints done by 4/27, wasn't aware of the mental health records form I had to complete because I lived in a difference state (NY) in the last 10 years so my PD called me to sign the paperwork 6/10 and haven't heard anything since. Anybody know how long NY takes to send back my records to my PD? Been almost 3 months since I applied now.

Best NJ rental range to take a beginner adult from NYC?

I’ve been to Long Shot and enjoyed it. I hear others like
Gun For Hire. What about RTSP? Any smaller less expensive/less fancy that anyone recommends?

Prefer one I can stand in the lane with my friend to give basic safety, grip instruction etc.

(I’m not a certified instructor but have been safely shooting handguns for decades). Thx any suggestions.

Muzzle break option on BCM upper?

I was considering building an AR and was going to order a BCM upper but i don’t see an option for them to install a muzzle break like i hear they used to…. Is there something I’m missing or did they stop offering that option?

This was going to be a 14.5” barrel length.

Could i go to a 16” barrel and not have to pin/weld the muzzle break if i have to purchase it separately?

Looking for a Precision .22 rifle

I'm looking for a precision rifle, I heard bolt action is better than semiautomatic but if I have to go with semi automatic I don't mind. I am looking for something that would be great for distance shooting and that isn't crazy expensive. I wouldn't mind a .22lr or .22WMR. Looking forward to your suggestions.
