HOW I GOT 100/100 IN NPTEL INTRODUCTION TO IOT (Jan–Apr 2026) + EXAM PATTERN + PREPARATION STRATEGY

I gave the Introduction to IoT exam on April 24, 2026 (First Shift) and got 100/100 overall.

A lot of people think this course is difficult because the content is huge.
Yes, the PDFs are massive (around 1200 pages total), but trust me — if you prepare properly for even 10 days, you can easily score 90+.

What I Did

I studied:

  • All material PDFs
  • Previous year assignments from 2022 till latest

For assignments, I uploaded:

  • Material PDFs
  • Lecture transcripts
  • Assignment questions

into GPT, and it generated answers.

Using this method:

  • I got 10 weeks full marks
  • In 2 weeks, only 1 question was wrong

So assignments are VERY important.

Exam Pattern (2026)

Total Questions: 50
Each Question: 2 marks
Total Marks: 100

Sections:

  • Section A → 10 questions
  • Section B → 15 questions
  • Section C → 25 questions

Important Marks Calculation

If you score:

  • 25/25 in assignments (all 8 assignment weeks full)

Then in final exam:

  • You can still get around 6 questions wrong
  • You need roughly 44 correct out of 50 to get 90+ overall

MOST IMPORTANT THING

Just by doing:

  • Assignments from 2022 till latest

many people are getting:

  • 90+ easily

My friends literally studied mostly assignments and got 90+.

BUT...

I didn’t want to take risk, so I:

  • studied ALL PDFs
  • revised assignments
  • took around 7 days

and finally got:

  • 100/100

VERY IMPORTANT OBSERVATION

While solving all previous assignments, you will notice:

>

So don’t ignore the materials.

Every year they add around:

  • 3–4 new questions
  • sometimes tricky conceptual questions

Week-wise Difficulty / Preparation Advice

Easy / Moderate

  • Week 1 → Easy
  • Weeks 9–12 → Can be completed quickly

VERY IMPORTANT

Week 2

Week 2 is VERY lengthy and important.

Study it properly because:

  • many tricky questions come from networking concepts
  • protocol-related confusion is common

Weekly Topics

Week 1

  • Introduction to IoT Part I & II
  • Sensing
  • Actuation
  • Basics of Networking Part I

Week 2

  • Basics of Networking Part II, III, IV
  • Communication Protocols Part I & II

Week 3

  • Communication Protocols Part III, IV, V
  • Sensor Networks Part I & II

Week 4

  • Sensor Networks Part III–VI
  • Machine-to-Machine Communications

Week 5

  • Interoperability in IoT
  • Arduino Programming
  • Integration of Sensors & Actuators with Arduino

Week 6

  • Python Programming
  • Raspberry Pi
  • IoT with Raspberry Pi

Week 7

  • IoT with Raspberry Pi (contd.)
  • SDN
  • SDN for IoT

Week 8

  • SDN for IoT (contd.)
  • Data Handling & Analytics
  • Cloud Computing

Week 9

  • Cloud Computing (contd.)
  • Sensor-Cloud

Week 10

  • Fog Computing
  • Smart Cities & Smart Homes

Week 11

  • Connected Vehicles
  • Smart Grid
  • Industrial IoT

Week 12

  • Industrial IoT (contd.)
  • Agriculture
  • Healthcare
  • Activity Monitoring

Final Advice

I know IoT feels irritating and boring while studying.

But seriously:

  • take 7–10 days
  • read the materials properly
  • solve all previous assignments

When you finally see 100/100, it genuinely feels worth it.

Good luck :)

HOW I GOT 100/100 IN HUMAN COMPUTER INTERACTION (HCI) (English) | Easiest NPTEL Course for 90+ / 100 (Jan–Apr 2026)

I took Human Computer Interaction (HCI) in the Jan–Apr 2026 semester and got 100/100 overall.

I gave the exam on:

  • 17 April 2026
  • Afternoon Shift

Honestly, this is probably one of the easiest NPTEL courses to score:

  • 90+
  • even 100/100

with very little preparation.

Exam Pattern

The exam had:

  • 3 Sections
  • Each section → 20 questions
  • Each question → 1 mark
  • Total → 60 marks

Difficulty Level

This course needs VERY little preparation.

You literally do not need:

  • notes
  • detailed revision
  • memorization

Just:

  • overlook/read the content PDFs once

That’s enough.

Assignments Strategy

For assignments, you can literally:

  1. Upload the PDF content into GPT
  2. Upload the assignment questions
  3. GPT will give almost all answers directly

Even without GPT, assignments are honestly very easy.

Most questions are:

  • common sense based
  • straightforward
  • easy to eliminate options

Sometimes while solving:

  • 3 options feel completely random
  • 1 option obviously feels correct

Exam Experience

Even in the final exam, the pattern felt similar.

A lot of questions were very direct, and many times:

>

If you just:

  • read summaries properly
  • understand basic concepts
  • solve assignments

then scoring high is extremely easy.

Best Preparation Method

If you are lazy to even read PDFs fully:

Upload the course PDFs into GPT and ask:

  • “Give me MCQ practice questions”
  • “Give me short summary of each PDF”

Then just read:

  • the summaries
  • important MCQs

That alone is honestly enough for:

  • 90+
  • even 100/100

Time Required

  • 1–2 days preparation → enough for 100
  • Even last day preparation can easily get:
    • 90
    • 95+

That’s how easy this course felt.

What I Personally Did

I didn’t want to take risk, so I:

  • just overlooked the PDF contents once
  • no notes
  • no serious preparation

and that was more than enough.

If you want:

  • a low-effort course
  • easy assignments
  • easy exam
  • guaranteed high score

then HCI is one of the best NPTEL choices.

Email id not in the record?

Hi, I have been trying to download my certificate from NPTEL website but since yesterday it shows that my email is not available in their record. It's the same email that I used to see those lectures in Swayam and while I can log in Swayam, I am unable to do so in NPTEL site. What should I do? Will I never get my certificate? And does this mean I have failed?

Do NPTEL course certificates add any value to CV for sake of enrolment in higher studies?

Hello everyone,

I am in dilemma. I will be pursuing research in my field of interest that is more interdisciplinary and needs some coursework/study from my side that my current major lacks. Will NPTEL certificates be of any value to showcase that I know and have done some study and got grades in the courses that I couldn't learn due to nature of my major?

Suggest an Easiest AICTE NPTEL course which is easy to pass

So the results are out and I'm in trouble

Programming in Java passed by 70 marks

Database systems *FAILED* by 5 marks

So I have to take another 12 week course and I don't want to join the course like Database Systems that was very hard and nothing came from assignment only 10% I guess

I want a course like java programming like I have read all the assignments from my home to exam centre travelling time and the whole paper came from assignment only and passed the exam with 70 marks (completed the paper in 15 mins)

Mujhe ek aisa paper chahiye jise mai asani se pass kar saku please 🥺 yrr bata do to mai july se oct/dec waale sessions ke liye apply kar saku
