Fair Play to Sandro Tonali for His Gesture During His Gambling Ban

I did not know this until today but Fair play to Tonali for choosing to take less than 10% of his salary while serving his 10-month gambling ban. Rather than accepting his full wages, Tonali voluntarily gave up around £7 million as a gesture of goodwill towards Newcastle United while he was unable to play.

Sandro carrying on the “Calendar of Doom” tradition

My friends and I had an in-joke a few years back (before transfer windows) that featuring a player in the NUFC calendar would inevitably lead to them leaving the club before their month. It’s nice to see that Sandro has brought the tradition back.

Enjoy September everyone.

EDIT: Fixed some typos

Thoughts on whether we can keep hold of Bruno?

The chat about Bruno has totally changed here in Brazil over recent weeks. His performances in the WC are attracting a lot of attention and a lot of praise. Believe it or not, despite having many caps for Brazil already, he was still largely unknown by the general Brazilian population prior to the WC starting. I know that Brazil's love of a player has little to do with the pricing of a player in the British transfer market, but I do think it is quite telling that people are starting to take notice. The deeper Brazil go in this competition, the more likely I think it will be that we will lose Bruno.

What do you guys think? Do you think we will be able to keep him, especially now that Tonali has gone?

Manchester City pushing Tottenham for Sandro Tonali, still eying Elliot Anderson deal

Manchester City are giving genuine consideration to signing Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, as well as Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest.

The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Tottenham have held productive talks with Tonali’s camp and want to make the Italian their major signing this summer, but face serious competition from City, who have continued to track the player.

City’s interest in Tonali, 26, does not affect their plans to sign Anderson and they remain in talks with Nottingham Forest about a potential British record transfer.

Signing both midfielders, for what would likely be a combined cost of over £200million ($268m), comes with City seeking to build a side for Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola’s successor, that can challenge for next season’s Premier League title.

100 million transfers….

So question for you guys….

The 100 million transfer of Tonali to Spurs is the second time we have sold a player for 100 million plus.

The first being Isak.

We could even potentially have had Anderson in there had there not been all the shenanigans.

So my question is are we a unicorn in this respect and are we the only club with multiples of 100 million plus sales like this?

Edit - talking among Premierleague clubs.

For context talking 100 million pounds and above mark which Tonali should in theory just hit.

The only 5 clubs in prem to have paid such a fee are incidentally all the septic 6 other than Manure.

Guess we’ll be considered by them a “big club” when we do this, although the Shearer fee when adjusted for inflation is still the biggest to this day I believe.

New Stadium Expectations

What are the feelings around a new or improved stadium?

Bigger capacity to 65,000ish?

Would we fill it given the ticketing shenanigans at St James'?

Do we aim for gigs and NFL?

If we rely solely on our local fanbase, can we compete with Spurs, Arsenal and the Manchester clubs?

Ive not looked but what do Everton have planned for their new ground?

I know the huge transfer fee and all. But Tonali's transfer feels the worst in recent times

I don't know what to say about this. The difference with him compared to Gordon and Isak was that none of the other two said they loved the club so much or had a very special place for them in their heart. But he said, there were a lot of talks he did. He said a lot about how he loves the fans and the club.

I only see one thing in it, that he left. If he still loves the club or the fans or he got a soft spot. All that is holy crap in front of the fact that we will be starting our Midfield without him next season.

All that makes his gratefulness for the club & the fans helping him with the ban just pointless.

110 appearances and he used Newcastle United as a stepping stone, Isak did with a commotion he did it with a smile, both hit Newcastle the same way on the inside. And at the end of the day they're not much different in that regard, at least the rat Was fully functional for all 3 seasons. Unlike Tonali's last season.

The only thing I will remember is his contribution on the season we won the Carabao Cup.

It's probably his family and Kid that he's moving to London. Even if I understand that, does that make it any better as a Newcastle Fan? I'm not from the UK but Don't think Newcastle is a place that lives without human rights or something? It's as Livable as another function City With a football club

All that I regret is that he had a season due with Newcastle that he didn't give. End of the story.

opinion on our seemingly new transfer model?

hey lads,

many reports say that our scouting department have switched towards buying young successors as we seen with jaouen and toure. what do you guys think this means long term and can the brighton, brentford mode work out?

hoenst opinion:

think if we follow this model we will have a slow season but eddie isn't notourious on building young players but maybe a different approach can help the team long term.
