Where to start?
Hey,
I’m a drummer looking to learn more about NYC jam sessions. Do these sessions usually have house kits? Any advice for someone getting started? I’ve been drumming for 10 years but am very new to public jams in NYC.

Hey all - we’re SuperExcellent, a guitar-driven rock band getting ready to move from writing mode into recording, gigging, and building a serious local -> national following.
We’re looking for a lead vocalist and proficient, motivated, chill musicians who want to be part of something that’s already moving forward. Our sound is melodic, energetic rock with pop and punk edges. If references help, think Green Day, The Who, The Replacements, The Clash - big hooks, strong songs, and room for personality.
We already have 6 demos fully recorded, and several more in the works. We’re happy to share them right away with anyone who’s genuinely interested and feels like a fit. Additionally, we love to create, so songwriting interest is an added bonus!
If you’ve been looking for a band that’s past the “someday” stage and ready to actually "do the thing," message me with a little about yourself, your influences, and any recordings if you’ve got them.
Cheers!
Dan
Hi! We're a group looking for beginner/intermediate jazz musicians who want to rent a studio together in Midtown Manhattan for 2-3h practice sessions approx. ~1x/month. We'd be playing jazz standards.
Currently, we have piano, bass, vocals, and drums. Horns would be great but any instrument is welcome, including the ones I listed!
Would also be happy to meet any other classic jazz-loving friends who want to go see shows!
hey all,
we are a pretty fresh trio of guitar/bass/drums all ~30s M who want to add keys (primarily) and possibly another guitarist. at least one of them is ideally also a vocalist
We meet mid-week around 6p in midtown at studios like Funkadelic or Musicmakers!
So far it's a combination of covers, improv/jamming and fleshing out original ideas. Jam rock, funk, jazz, classic rock, post-punk, etc.
Inspirations: King Gizzard, Allman Bros, Phish, Cream, shame, Slowdive, the Fearless Flyers, Wilco, Herbie Hancock, Mac DeMarco, Jimi, QotSA, old surf music, jazz and funk classics..we all listen to all sorts of stuff. For me the important thing is that the material is actually fun to play and not just good to listen to.
Here are a couple clips of us messing around earlier this month (this one started as the River):

Hi, 25f drummer based in midtown Manhattan. I like playing 90s rock the most, like Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, QOTSA, RHCP type music. I also enjoy playing 70s rock. I’m down to play covers or write originals. Basically any high energy music like that. If anyone in their 20s or 30s is interested in playing lmk. I’m only looking to play in Manhattan.
Hi all! Male multi-instrumentalist here looking for soft female vocals. I’m heavily influenced by Beach House, The Sundays, Men I Trust, Lush, Cocteau Twins, Curve, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, Sound of Ceres, Furns, She’s Green, Sea Oleena, Grouper, Alvvays, and many many more
The demos I have so far are acoustic with a few effects laden ideas. I really want to build this from the ground up with a songwriting partner. I do write some lyrics but I cannot sing fyi
Anyway, thanks for reading and hope to hear from you!
