Navy Intelligence Officer pathway + dual-mil questions

Looking for insight from current/former Navy Intel officers or anyone familiar with the officer selection process. I’m specifically interested in commissioning, not enlisting.
My educational background includes two bachelor’s degrees in social science/criminal justice-related fields, a minor in sociology, and a master’s in criminology/law.
Professionally, I have several years of experience across government intelligence/investigative analysis, OSINT, cybersecurity, and attack surface management. My work has included investigative research, infrastructure and asset analysis, IP/domain research and attribution, large-scale data analysis, and supporting federal government work.
I also have experience with OSINT/investigative tools, Excel, SPSS, basic Python, BigQuery, Terminal, and Jira.
My first choice would be Intelligence Officer (1830). I’d also be very interested in cyber or other Information Warfare officer communities that might align with my technical/analytical experience. As a more distant fallback, I’d consider an administrative-oriented officer community if Intel/cyber weren’t realistic options.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
How competitive does my general background sound for 1830? Also timelines for job openings?
What would strengthen an Intel officer package the most?
How much control do applicants have over the designator they commission into? Ideally, I would only move forward if selected for a community I actually want.
What other officer communities should I be researching given an OSINT, cyber, threat intelligence, and infrastructure-analysis background?
How much weight does relevant civilian experience carry compared with OAR scores, academics, interviews, recommendations, etc.?
How realistic is geographic co-location for Navy/USMC dual-military couples?
My spouse is active-duty USMC and plans to finish full career length as a mustang, so dual-mil logistics are a significant consideration. We’d ideally like to remain in Southern California, and I’m curious how realistic San Diego/Camp Pendleton-area assignments are for Intel or cyber officers and how cross-service co-location works in practice. My spouse is going RTC instructor billet and we have EMFP for our son who is autistic.
I understand duty stations aren’t guaranteed. Mainly trying to determine which officer communities best fit my background, how realistic my chances are for Intel/cyber, and how much control I can have over my designator before committing to a commission.
Would appreciate any insight from Intel/IWC officers, officer recruiters, or Navy/USMC dual-mil folks. If you read this entire post- THANK YOU! 🙏🏽
