How Important is A Multiplayer Format for the Viability of the Game?

I've been thinking about this a fair amount on my own and am curious to get your thoughts. I haven't not been playing very long and was never around for original netrunner.

Seems like many card games and games in general that grow and attract new fna support more than 2 players. Commander being the best example. I think most play groups and gaming groups have more than two people in them and having to split your group to play netrunner is likely an unattractive option

Question: regardless of feasibility, how important is a supported multiplayer format for attracting new players?

How does the LCG model work when you want to build lots of casual decks?

I'm new to FFG/NSG Netrunner, and I've never purchased any LCG cards before this. (I recently purchased the three "Starter" sets -- System Gateway, Elevation, and Vantage Point -- from NSG.)

I'm wondering how the LCG model works when you want to build multiple casual decks. (I still have quite a few casual decks from my Magic days.) Across all those decks, there are bound to be more than 3 occurrences of certain cards.

I hate card sleeves, so that rules out proxy cards. And, apparently, there's no singles market.

Am I obliged to purchase additional sets from NSG, even though most of those cards will never be used? (I'm willing to do that; I just want to make sure it's my only option.)

Thanks for any insight.

EDIT: Thanks all! You've confirmed that purchasing additional sets is the way to go, for me.

I'm an old-schooler who much prefers the look, feel, and handling of unsleeved cards. 🙂

And as a bonus, I'll be contributing to NSG's fine work. 👍

Lack of credits as corp

So I am getting back into NetRunner after years away, last played when FFG was still running things.

I am playing online, checking out the sites that are new to me; I only played jinteki.net in the past. I am playing Chiriboga. All of the corp decks I played seem to have a dearth of credits vs the runner. The runner decks have all of these cards for gaining credits. I am having to spend clicks to get them, which makes expensive ICE useless to have and play.

I am playing with the default decks. Is this a common problem amongst them?

Does anyone have recommendations for addressing this?

Thank you.

A couple of rules questions

Original NR player here, been away for decades, now discovering NSG NR. Haven't played it, yet, but I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find answers to in NSG's comprehensive rules.

  1. Can the Corp rez an installed card (other than Ice) whenever it wants to?

  2. Looking at the standard Corp action that expends 3 clicks to purge all virus counters: Must all 3 clicks be expended within the same turn, or may some of those clicks be deferred to the following turn, as long as they're all contiguous?

Thanks in advance.

How do you introduce asymmetric card games to people without overwhelming them?

Planning a gaming night with a couple of friends who are used to standard TCGs where both players share similar turn structures. Asymmetric games are incredible once they click, but the initial rules explanation always feels like teaching two completely different board games at once. What’s your preferred approach for teaching asymmetric mechanics without causing brain overload on round one?

Collection of decks for casual play

Back in the day, someone put out the Frankfurt30, a set of 30 decks relatively balanced that could be constructed from a single collection and left in state for casual play. Is there a comparable project for the NSG version of Netrunner?

Breach - A new playable Netrunner Client

Playable Link: https://tenthgames.itch.io/breach

Hey! I’m looking for testers for an early build of my netrunner client.

The game includes a tutorial, both public and private multiplayer, and deckbuilding. It’s still in active development, so the design, mechanics, balance, and assets may change. Feedback is very welcome, and bugs or crash reports can be submitted directly in the game.

What's the scene like in Nottingham?

I'm moving to Nottingham this week from a sleepy town that doesn't have any community presence.

I've only ever played kitchen table style with my brother and we're excited at the prospect of maybe getting involved in the community (and also getting my friends over here into it).
