Here's another game ND could remaster, Star Trek Voyager, Elite Force

Here's another game ND could remaster, Star Trek Voyager, Elite Force

Just like SHOGO, here are twelve points I'd like to see in this remaster

  1. Remastered textures, sounds, and updated AI pathing.

  2. Remastered cutscenes and voices (and new cutscenes for Virtual Voyager if the player commits suicide [like blowing himself up or falling into the computer core's pit] or dies in a holodeck accident; I was peeved the OG Elite Force never had these cutscenes as well as an option to play the game's intro theme or the Voyager Main Theme, ND could finally license the main theme for Voyager.

  3. More Holomatch characters from all Star Trek shows (TOS, TNG, DS9, ENT, LD, PIC, PRO, SNW, etc) as well as that hologram of Qwark's head on Kira's body. Imagine having a multiplayer cage match between Kirk and Picard, or a team match with Beckett leading red team and Boilmer leading blue team.

  4. Expanded Virtual Voyager with more holodeck programs, and more decks to explore.

  5. Campaign mods remastered and brought over from the community. (With regular updates)

  6. A brand new, Nightdive/machinegames developed Holomatch Team Arena based on Q3 Team Arena with new weapons, players and a single player tournament ladder set in 2383 (around a year after Lower Decks wrapped up)

  7. Add new Easter Eggs, including pieces of foreshadowing, (like Janeway logs about wanting to design a ship that uses a protostar), or 7 of 9's logs that would explain why the I-MOD can't see widespread adopted. (Something along the line that parts for it are very rare. Maybe other can come up with a better explanation. I'm just putting it out there

  8. Add some new features for replayblity in addition to offline bots, add a single player remix mode as well modifiers form single player and Holomatch that makes the game eaiser, harder or shot out to other games like modifiers that gives Alex Munroe slow-mo F.E.A.R style, cloaking Crysis style, and the ability to slide kick and perform melee moves that would make Subject 106 blush.

  9. Opt in accessible features stiff like waypoints and what not should be opt in (something for new players),

  10. Stat tracking for your whole campaign. (Like by the end of the game all your stats that should be tracked between levels and tallied all up when you complete the game.

  11. Achievements, I'd like to see a slate of achievements including some like an achievement for perfect accuracy.

  12. Alongside having the source code released in the files, also give us a specialized in-game museum featuring featuring historical concept art, original design documents, early weapon and enemy models, cut content, and playable prototype and demo levels

  13. Bundle the game with mod tools (including tools where we can port and add characters from different franchises imagien being to play as Nate Wright in a Holomatch game.

By popular demand here's Elite Force 2 that should be remastered

  13. Bundle the game with mod tools (including tools where we can port and add characters from different franchises imagien being to play as Nate Wright in a Holomatch game.

  14. Virtual Enterprise-E as well as 15 different Holodeck programs (from typical Star Trek places to shotouts from different franchises (Romulan disruptor tag on Fairy World from The FairlyOddparents anyone

In addition it'll be released alongside Elite Force 1

I think SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division sould be Nightdive's next remaster.

This game is pretty much unplayable in modern systems without compatibility mods. I would love to see a nightdive remaster on this one, the AI and other gameplay mechanics are pretty clunky even for it's time.

Features I'd like to see for the remaster.

  1. Scrap the crit hit system entirely, (or have an option to turn it off or on for player only). I can't tell you how many times I had to F5 (quicksave) after EVERY battle and how many times I got one shotted. I mean one lucky crit hit and you're done in.

  2. Add offline bots to multiplayer (like i which Nightdive did this with all their remasters that has a multiplayer component.

  3. Add some new Easter Eggs. Heck I'd like to see a F.E.A.R easter egg in the Shogo remaster as we got a SHOGO easter egg in F.E.A.R so maybe it's time for F.E.A.R to pay back SHOGO one that would be years in the making. Also I'd like to see some easter eggs to Blood 2 the Chosen.

  4. Add some new features for replayblity in addition to offline bots, add a single player remix mode as well modifiers that makes the game eaiser, harder or shot out to other games, like modifiers that gives Sanjuro slow-mo F.E.A.R style, cloaking Crysis style, and the ability to slide kick and perform melee moves, that would make Subject 106 blush.

  5. Opt in accessible features stiff like waypoints and what not should be opt in (something for new players),

  6. Stat tracking between levels, since SHOGO is a game that lets you kill non-combatants without consequences (the line is killing plot important characters). All that should be tracked between levels and tallied all up when you complete the game.

  7. Achievements, I'd like to see a slate of achievements including some like "What a Shame" where you kill non combatants.

Dawn of the Machine: Quake 1/2/3 Connections

AI answers are gaslighting me into thinking I'm crazy, but I swear I'm seeing model asset and visual rendering techniques from all three of the games.. Aren't these armor shards from Quake 2, and isnt the volumetric red lighting along the floor in The Haunted Tower (for example) a Quake 3 reference/throwback?

Captain Claw (1997) deserves a KEX Engine remaster! Do you think it's possible? 🐱🏴‍☠️

>Monolith's Captain Claw is an absolute late-90s PC masterpiece. The fluid 2D platforming, the iconic pirate-cat aesthetic, and the challenging levels would look and play beautifully with Nightdive's optimization.
I know Warner Bros. holds the rights (which is usually a licensing nightmare), but Nightdive has worked with them before on Blood: Fresh Supply.
Do you think there's any realistic chance of a comeback, or is this treasure lost at sea forever? What are your thoughts?

Nightdive has the chance to do the funniest thing ever.

Re-release a great game everywhere while insulting Sony. Two birds with one stone.

MDK1&2✌️

One of the most criminally underrated and forgotten 90s and early 2000s science fiction action adventure titles that deserves an Enhanced Remaster from the talented team at Nightdive has to be the MDK games

A unique third person platforming shooter where you play as a normal ordinary guy named Kurt Hectic, a janitor on board a space ship working for a scientist who exiled himself from Earth, and ultimately falls to you to stop a galactic threat from an alien race hell bent on destruction, enslavement and basic chaos.

You get this awesome ability known as the "Coil suit" thats basically a futuristic Iron Man meets Venom style outfit that lets you do all kinds of abilities such as tendrils that warp out like a parachute and lets you soar across the environment and land safetly.

The games also had comic book adaptions made, it felt like a solo Jet Force Gemini only with a lot more maturity to it.

A Thank you to Nightdive Studios

I just discovered that Nightdive has a reddit, and I wanted to say how awesome you guys are. You guys are the only studio that I know of willing and able to remaster/remake games while keeping the original vibe and feel and mood of the game fully intact. You don't mess with what works, with what was awesome about the game. You make logical, good improvements. You don't attempt to mOdErNiZe the story. You just keep the original, awesome concept and make the technology and user interface better than ever.

So, THANK YOU so much! Replaying your remastered/remade classics is a joy, and I really appreciate it! Please keep up the good work. Maybe eventually the other studios will learn from your example. Or, they'll all go out of business, and you'll literally rule the world.

I reworked the F.E.A.R.'s AI Logic (F.E.A.R. Better AI Mod)

The rules don't seem to restrict the promotions of mods, so...
It took around a week to make my own AI for F.E.A.R., but now I finally published it and I can share it with other people so they can dive into a more dynamic AI : )

Links:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/better-ai-standalone
https://www.nexusmods.com/fear/mods/163

BetterAI Features:
Enhanced Agile Movement, less reaction to pain, more squad coordination, frequent usage of explosive barrels, cleverly using grenades, better cover discipline, frequent window/door interactions, silent predators (chat less often), smarter flanking, improved limping states, improved awareness, increased updaterate (act in real-time), improved alert system, limited medkits, reworked game difficulty, and much more.

It does have some minor bugs, but this mod is more like a proof of concept. I am pretty happy with the results, and I believe it is totally worth it to sacrifice some little things in order to test this new AI. The mod is still in Alpha after all.

Thank you for your attention!

It’s high time someone resurrects gamings greatest hero from the graveyard of abandonware.

Night dive, you’re our only hope. If you don’t then the ancients will win and we will NEVER win at ring toss. You know what you must do…
