I got into D5 maining Recluse/IronEye based on what teammates chose, but I miss the big bonk. I can’t decide which relic to use in the 6th slot. If anyone can help it’d be much appreciated!
Yes I used an Arachnid joke. Sorry. But a pretty crazy roll🤣

Last(?) attempt at 100 consecutive wins with D5 randoms and Undertaker. Sadly ended to ED Balancers with bad rng, unideal teammates, and a couple of poor decisions on my end.
Anyway, this post is a follow-up to https://www.reddit.com/r/Nightreign/comments/1tsqd56/59_winstreak_with_d5_undertaker_some/ where I recorded the builds people were using to make the grind more interesting. Conclusions on the builds haven't changed that much, just more data to go off of now.
Original Data here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1La71UW4dnma8U6gmihRnxkf0Ncnbn20c2nyLrpPIHH4/edit?usp=sharing
The sheet has some additional data like most popular nightfarers per Nightlord that I didn't include in the post because it's too big, and is mostly correlated with the most popular nightfarers overall. Builds are also hard to categorize in general without dilluting the data with too specific builds, but I tried my best.
Anyway, hopefully this can be used to get a good idea of the general meta builds running around in D5 for each character. It's pretty clear at this point which builds work well in DoN (and can be built with reasonable relics).
Disclaimers:
- Games were all on PC so it's easier to cheat.
- Playing in Japan, but who knows how much that influences the number of cheaters or the builds being used.
- Data has some repeat teammates.
- I have blocked a lot of egregious cheaters so I may see them less often.
- I almost always picked Undertaker, so Undertaker data is underrepresented since people don't like to choose the same character as other teammates. Triple Undertaker is also wack af imo lol
Characters used Breakdown:
Players with cheated relics % 9.7%
Games where a player had cheated relics % 17.7%
Cheaters by nightfarer (don't take too seriously):
| Nightfarer | Cheaters |
|---|---|
| Wylder | 6.3% |
| Guardian | 16.7% |
| Ironeye | 6.4% |
| Duchess | 11.8% |
| Raider | 11.8% |
| Revenant | 16.9% |
| Recluse | 9.8% |
| Executor | 12.2% |
| Scholar | 9.5% |
| Undertaker | 4.5% |
Character Builds
Random Stuff:
Hardest Nightlord Expeditions according to my personal win rate (your mileage may vary)...
| Nightlord | Winrate |
|---|---|
| Balancers | 87.0% |
| Libra | 88.4% |
| Dreglord | 93.1% |
| Maris | 94.1% |
| Gladius | 95.2% |
| Heolster | 95.7% |
| Fulghor | 96.9% |
| Caligo | 97.5% |
| Adel | 100.0% |
| Gnoster | 100.0% |
Lastly, the build I used:
Changes from last time: I changed out Undertaker's "last hit of chain attack" and "incantation buff" relic effects to fit in a bit more physical attack up. I still think they're fine, but nowadays I prefer fitting in more generic physical attack up effects and spamming jump attacks without stressing out about proccing those buffs.
That's p much it, thanks for reading and feel free to ask any questions / Undertaker advice.
Was hidden boss but we all know what that means lol. The town merchant had misericorde with crits up though
D5.
Honestly was an absolute shitshow of a run. The Revenant understood where things were on great hollow but made horrible decisions and had an awful build. Revenant had a wrath of gold esque build with old portrait. Got nothing and eventually just went with rivers of blood. Wanted to goto the tower halfway into day 2 and I was not having it.
The ironeye was alright but I could tell was quite dejected from a botched invader that ended with everyone level 1 with the invader dead but runes never having been retrieved.
However, I can say that neither of them quit. And the Revenant did ult at good times every now and again.
Level 10 at depth 5 in particular is a disgrace of a run in my eyes and even this is making the best of a bad situation.. And in my experience, the team would usually wipe from ever being in this situation at all. But that made this all the more interesting to me because I don't feel like the others had a good setup at all. I was surprised this only took 4 minutes.
---
I used to be quite skeptical of tank builds. And tbh I still am a bit as I don't find myself enjoying having NO sources of damage. But I enjoy being tanky and having modest damage for bad situations.
Where I found this nice was having 2225 HP while still having 1500~ ish guard counter at level 10 of all places with red weapon. I only found one guard counter passive period, but quite a few different damage negations like taking damage, successful guarding, and full to complement this. This build has night of fathom and broach with GC MHP and GC + Max HP base relics.
I was skeptical because things going away faster helps people make fewer mistakes. But when things goto shit this isn't always an option. Though, I can't say this would be as useful in less dire situations.
What do you think of D5 tanks? How far do you believe you should go into being a tank?
MMV is most likely the only form of update to the game, that we will ever get.
This mod has it's own build in matchmaking system with around 200-300 players active at all times
It massively expands the game, it changes:
-The number of possible Field Bosses from 22, to 89.
-The number of possible Castle Variations from 3 to 24.
-The number of possible Castle Basement Bosses from 7 to 29.
-The number of possible Night Bosses from 35 to 56.
-The number of possible Night Invaders from 9 to 60.
-Normalizes Night Bosses so all expeditions work similarly to Heolstor Expo, having nearly the full suite of options possible for ALL expos.
In addition to that it adds weapons from SOTE dlc and Dark souls games
i was your depth 5 ironeye on the crystal map
i am so sorry
Just bought the game a couple of weeks ago and played with friends. Have jard time finding matches and want to beat a everdark boss to gain access to the store.
Hesitation is defeat
Shame he had to leave though, didn't even get to enjoy the wealth...
Guardian was cool though, even though I could tell he was kinda checked out the whole match, but to be fair, so was I.
Shame this overrode my rune record, would have been fun to get 1.4mil runes naturally. (I know that it's probably impossible without shady shit going on)
i get that it's annoying to play with a cheater, but if u leave the match u kinda screw the other guy too who didn't deserve it. just play it out and block them please
I was just playing in DON3 against ED Darkdrift Knight. I was on bird (because bird is awesome) and almost every item I had was +15 guarding ability. I had a ton of stamina, yet every time I’d block a hit I’d still take a sizable chunk of damage, leading to my deaths. Why? I still had full stamina most of the time as I am great with management, yet I still got obliterated
EDIT: thank you everyone apparently I didn’t know ab birds blocking mechanics. Much love!
