First Bike?

Hello all,

I am a complete noob on motorcycles and wanted to see if anyone has had experience owning a Nightster.

I have always wanted a Harley and took a trip to the dealer this past weekend. I was all set to buy the Sportster S. The dealer is actually offering me about $2,000 off MSRP, which is a great deal.

They allowed me to take a test ride of the Sportster S and I also sat on the Low Rider S. It was an eye opening experience. I did not drop the Sportster or stall it but it was much harder and more stressful than I was anticipating. Starting it moving, balancing at low speed, and getting my feet on the pegs was a lot more work than I thought. The Low Rider S was even scarier to sit on.

I left the dealer wondering if I was trying to take a leap. Now I'm seriously looking at the Nightster Special because it has the modern technology I'm looking for but should be a little more newbie friendly.

I am also looking at a Street Bob if I can get a similar deal on one of those.

I plan on taking the MSF before I buy anything so I'm not jumping into it blind.

For all of you who have had a Nightster:

- Is it a good first Harley?
- Did you outgrow it quickly?
- How is it on 100-300 mile rides?
- If you had it to do over would you buy the Nightster or just go straight to a Sportster S or Street Bob?

I would really appreciate input from people who have lived with these bikes.

Thanks!
