Dlc is underhwelming

Till now i have finished 2 map areas out of the 4 only 4 new enemies and the bosses till now are either repeats or human bosses. A yokai boss is also just a less interesting shuten doji with near copy paste moveset and only 1 guradian spirit

Really just one new Guardian spirit?

Or am I missing something? I have all areas fully discovered, found all collectibles and did all quests afaik. Didn't the other DLC not have more spirits each? And then it's not even one for both styles.

Chinese negative review dlc

What up with all the negative review from chinese? I know it kinda early to have any valid review but the dlc seem to get alot of bad review from pretty much only chinese. I only saw a single negative review that wasnt chinese and it was about performance, which i dont really care since my pc has no problem running the game anyway.

I did translate like 2 chinese review and one was complaining about too much flashy attack in the game and other one is complaining about reskin of boss and hyper armor.

Do you think the review are fair or it just another case of chinese player bombing review on steam? I find it weird that they have such a strong opinion about the dlc when it came out less than 24h ago.

Havent played yet but i plan to play after work.

How do the new DLC armor sets look?

How do the new DLC armor sets look? I don't see anyone creating new styles on Glamurai, it gives the impression that there aren't many interesting new looks.

New onmyo in dlc? (No spoilers)

Beat the DLC late this morning. Didn’t 100 percent the are but I got pretty close. The length was pretty disappointing for me. I was on my strongest character though so I mighta just ran through everything.
I didn’t find a single new soul core that had an offensive ability.
If any of you know where I could kind one that would be cool.
Honestly pretty disappointed in the dlc so far. Maybe it’ll be better on ng++. Just wasn’t long or challenging enough. So far Nioh 2 is still king.

Should I skip Nioh 1 and Jump Straight to 2?

I know this is NIOH sub so ofcourse everyone will tell me to play 1 and then 2 because you guys are fans of this series. I have never heard of this series before last week and really want to get into it. Did some research and found out that Nioh 1 has some very unfair levels which are just not fun and since both these games are not connected should I just play 2? Maybe I will jump to 3 if I am able to beat nioh 2 but we will see. For now I need help deciding about this. For me I just want to have fun and have a great time playing a video game. So what do you guys suggest.

Samurai Hoko & Shield feels pretty strong against human enemies so far (Mild spoilers for DLC mini-boss)

The shield charge specifically feels like it just stunlocks humans so easily, and with the shield blocking attacks throughout the entire thing, it just feels like bullying. And i absolutely love it.

Granted i am still getting used to the Samurai version since my brain is hard-wired onto fists, but i think i've found my main use for it so far

So how do you use the shield and hoko?

Do you always prioritize the reflect with your moves? Or do you just use it as a normal weapon that if you are lucky can catch someone while attacking for some bonus?
Struggling so far to understand what the way is with it but it seems strong and fun.

NG or NG+ for DLC

I am like 90% done with NG+, would it not make sense to do the DLC on Heirs journey (NG) due to lower gear, being overpowered, etc.?

Feels like the increase Omnyo cast speed quite a bit.

It really feels nice casting Omnyo magic now with the increased speed.

DLC and Stone of Penance? Be careful lol

Sooooo I posted earlier cuz I was getting 1 shot by the first boss on the DLC and was like…. wtf is wrong with me… what’s wrong with this dlc. Someone then asked me “do you happen to have the stone of penance equipped?” … well I did. Took it out and first time trying without it being equipped; melted the boss. So just a heads up … you may have a stone equipped if you’re struggling!!!!!!

Can’t you buy Hell Rising DLC on its own?

Do I have to buy full season pass (in UK)?
Just lost some hours at work, so was hoping to just buy the first DLC, not the full season pass…

Samurai Hoko and Shield practice clip

Trying to get better at the Hoko and Shield, have a long way to go. It has several moves that have deflect frames while attacking (guard points) and trying to weave them together mid-combat is quite fun and challenging.

One interesting thing about the weapon is if you miss the perfect deflect timing on attacks with deflect frames, you can often still block (although it costs a lot of Ki and you'll still take elemental damage).

I normally don't post clips from practice sessions, but I figured this weapon just came out and this might interest some people. I'll post full runs once I get more efficient with the weapon (and unlock all the Martial Arts).

This games combat flows so well when you learn to stance switch and chain active skills

About 7 or so days ago I posted a video here titled “I just don’t know what to do”. I was struggling a lot in the mid game and I was trying to play it like dark souls by spamming light attacks and not using active skills. I used to rely on the block button too much and I didn’t utilize low stance or any of the stances really as good as I should have. I was struggling against enemy ganks and not using all the tools the game gives you to properly take out each enemy. I never realized how good low stance was, you can dodge things so much easier and the ki recovers much faster. After I realized all of this i was able to successfully finish the game and now im on ng+ and while I still see lots of ways to improve the game just feels so much better now. The combat system is so deep and there’s such a high skill ceiling to this game, I have to say I’m in love and thank you all for your harsh criticism and guidance that made me keep at it.
