Getting a Quest 2 in 2026

This will be my first ever VR headset, I’ll be trading with another person later today and I was wondering how good exactly is a Standalone Quest 2? (I had a pc but it’s beyond cooked 💀 so standalone it is) Apparently it’s in good conditions, and I was wondering how it would run VRchat in Standalone since Ik the Quest 3/3s are more recent and have been out for a while now and the Quest 2 is aging a bit. Just want to know if I made the right choice by starting off with a Quest 2 or should I have waited and traded for a Quest 3 or something? 😅 I’ll appreciate any feedback.

(Meta) Deleting this on monday / looking for player feedback

I'll keep this short because it's the weekend and I probably shouldn't post this.
Anyway, we're a small VR studio and we started developping this game MONTHS ago. I really liked the concept and really pushed for it to be made, but development has been paused to determine if it would even work in VR.
We've been waiting for months to get a final version and playtesters but it seems like that's never going to happen.
My hope is that maybe some people out here would like the game, give feedback and allow me to push for an update/more development.

About the game:
The game is supposed to be a tower defense / godsim game where you sort humans and zombies. Analyse them, quarantine them, kill them, whatever you want. The purpose is that more and more come and you're supposed to be more efficient at sorting them with new gates, automated systems, etc.. as killing the right ones gives you more money.
To me the most fun part is just picking them up and yanking them as it's kinda satisfying.

Anyway, for anyone who's curious and wants to test the game, I'll leave the open RC aswell as the feedback form here:
RC:
https://www.meta.com/s/7wa14pQYK
Form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeBPBVVfdtsiTh9OYdg-tVLKEY7t13QXQiPCyKxSZWeFQZB4Q/viewform?usp=dialog

If you feel like giving me some input that would be super appreciated, if not I guess it wasn't meant to be.

thank you!

ps: I'll delete this post on monday as I don't think the studio wants us to leave open RC's available to the public. Just FYI if you don't have time to test it right now but want to save the RC.

A good replacement for the regular foam face pad?

The original foam face pad leaves some residue on my face after a couple hours of use, are there any good replacements for it? I've seen some that use synthetic leather but since that is prone to flaking and peeling I would prefer some that wouldn't have those issues.

Thank y'all in advance

Do We Need More Curation or Vocal Leadership for Indie Games?

Hi all, it was definitely one of the highlights for our small indie team this past week, such a wonderful surprise and a honor to have been acknowledged by a legend like Shuhei Yoshida on X. 🙏

He's always been a champion of indie developers and smaller studios, which got me thinking:

Who else (past or currant) in the gaming industry has similar impact on supporting indies across any of the platforms?

Can executives even do that personally today without any issues? Or would it be helpful for players, especially given the current challenges facing gaming and VR?

It also made me think about the early days of Meta's VR store curation. It could take months to get approved, which was frustrating for many developers, but it also ensured a certain quality bar and helped shape first impressions for new VR users.

Today, do players mostly rely on reviews, creators, recommendations from friends, or would some platform curation help when choosing what to play? Is there value in having industry leaders champion great experiences that are not always AAA?

Cheers!

Does this feel more like nature or science fiction?

A short clip from my upcoming Solara One arboretum release.

I've been leaning into the contrast between towering trees and a more surreal, space-inspired atmosphere. Curious which side it lands on for you?

How about the forest sounds, do they feel right for the scene?

Does anybody know about this screen freezing issue with Quest 2 + Meta Horizon Link (Wired)?

I have tried all of the above, and I haven't found a concrete solution to it.

I've concluded that it isn't my PC Specs, or SteamVR, or the wire I have for PC link, as everything works fine for a few minutes before freezing. When it does freeze, the computer still detects inputs from the headset and controllers. I can still hear audio, but the visuals freeze on the headset, and that's about it.

I don't think it's

SteamVR - The quest freezes regardless of being in a game or not using PC Link.

PC Specs - I've lowered graphics and refresh rates, adding more virtual RAM, but nothing changes.

Overlays - Like Steam, Nvidia, Discord. Disabled them and nothing changed.

Repairing the Horizon Link app - Nothing Changed.

PC link wire - I've jiggled it in the USB-C port on the headset. The speed, quality and connection of the wire are fine because it works for the first few minutes before freezing, and it still detects audio and motion input.

The Headset - The headset works fine standalone, but my games are on PC, so I have to use PC link.

Games - I don't think it's the games I play either; I played Job Simulator without any freezing, but every other game froze, so it might have been a coincidence I didn't freeze while playing that.

I reckon it's Horizon Link

As the freezing only happens after I use it, and I have to restart the services to retry using PC link, closing PC link after it had frozen. When it has frozen, and I back out from PC Link to the starting place on Quest 2, I press the PC Link button again, and I'm greeted with eternal "Attempting to connect to PC" until I do actually restart Horizon Link services.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because it might just be a simple fix I'm missing. This is stopping me from enjoying my VR, so thank you if you are able to help!

The rats are running from the base.

Sometimes in the VR game Xenolocus you might encounter packs of rats running away.

They're not fleeing for no reason - they're running from someone or something.

Be ready for a fight!

Do you think the game should have more action, or are these tense moments of waiting important?
