I don't feel like anyone's talked about this, but it's pretty established in Chapter 3 that Kris went out of their way to prevent Toriel from getting kidnapped. (Which post Chapters 4/5, is seemingly one of the Knight's two objectives. The other one possibly being Noelle themed, considering Noelle was meant to enter the chapter 1 closet, and the entirety of chapter 2 being a thing)

What with making sure Susie would be there and indirectly getting the police/Undyne involved. Even them dealing more damage while the fungang is down during the Knight fight could be due to them desperately trying to protect her as the last one standing, inspite of Kris and the Knight seemingly being allies.

However Kris feels about Toriel, they clearly don't want to see her be harmed. Now compare Asgore, who Kris has shown absolutely zero affection for throughout the entire game, despite him attempting to show how much he cares about Kris. And then, like with Toriel, Kris sets up the chapter's darkworld to facilitate their kidnapping via the Knight. Only unlike Toriel, Kris does literally nothing to impede it.

You can even read the fact that you/Kris can try to attack Flowery, only to have Ralsei and Susie force Mercy as Kris trying to smooth things out for the Knight. And despite being forced into Mercy for the entire fight due to Susie and Ralsei's convictions, as soon as Kris is alone, they take out their sword to do some real damage to Flowery.

I genuinely can't unsee this considering the glimpses we get of Asgore neglecting and being aggressive towards his flowers (family). That because of how Asgore changed post Horrible Incident, Kris genuinely resents him on some level, and well. If I was in their position, possessed by some asshole Deltarune player; My father who had previously mistreated me, who thinks that acting overly loving will make up for that poor treatment and doesn't even realize that I'm not me, I would be pretty okay with them getting Bunker'd, as bad as it sounds.

I'm not saying Kris is evil, or that they're not being coerced into opening the darkworlds by adults in positions of power. I'm saying, "Listen man, I get why you'd treat Asgore that way".

(and that's not even getting into Flowery's suspicions of Kris, considering the "Kris, YOU'VE CHANGED" line and that he told Susie not to tell anyone (Kris) about the shelter code in his pot. They all saw Kris open the fountain, yet here they are, acting ignorant about that fact while actively trying to seal it. I'm sure post Knight kidnapping Asgore, Flowery must have been looking at Kris with genuine scorn but knew to keep it in)
