Forza Horizon 6

So it says im running at 170-190+ frames at around 60-68% GPU utilization. Sounds incredible right? However im getting little lag spikes where i freeze for about half a second, as if my GPU is hitting 100%, although it never says it goes about 70%. Is there something im missing? Im really tryna play at max settings considering my build.
GPU: 12gb 5070
CPU: ryzen 7 7800x3d
RAM: 32gb ddr5-6000
Monitor is a 4k 180hz acer nictro.
Any suggestions on how to fix the spikes??

2880p(Legacy 4x) vs 2160p(2.25x DL) using DLSS in Squad. What is this bottleneck/poor scaling performance?

Edit: Overclocking my CPU to 5.5 and turning off SMT improved the bottleneck somewhat.

58% at 2160p is "1252.8" pixels. 115fps and visuals... ew.
33% at 2880p is "950.4" pixels. 100fps and visuals look way better.
33% at 2160p is "712.8" pixels. 140fps and visuals.. ew.

What. I don't know if I'm a little slow or something, but I'm missing why Balanced has that result. Also curious what's keeping the 5120x2880 resolution from shining in the performance range it should be, somewhere between 115 and 140fps.

Forza Horizon 6 PC Optimization + Best Settings Guide: Graphics Performance Deep Dive

  • 8 GB GPUs should reduce the environmental textures to "High." This also limits the geometric quality to "High."
  • Car Reflections are best left at the highest quality. If you're on a lower-end PC, drop down to "Low."

https://preview.redd.it/2z8n05gb362h1.png?width=1140&format=png&auto=webp&s=e7322a7624e3607ae5902271e4c35ba66cb29f88

  • Screen Space Reflections should be enabled over ray-traced (unless you've got the extra headroom). "High" is the sweet spot, but Extreme is only a few percent slower.

  • Screen Space GI is recommended for most midrange PCs. "High" is the sweet spot.
  • Ray-traced GI medium is ideal for high-end PCs, preferably with quality upscaling.

Stuck in a moral dilemmas regarding FSR 4

Soo I have been experimenting with FSR 4 using optiscaler and it's clear that fsr 4 is much better visually. However my dilemma lies in perfromance. Fsr 4 greatly reduces the performance in opposition to fsr 3.1 to the point where I have to use 720p quality mode if I have to use fsr 4 and tbh 720p upscaled from 480p doesn't rly look that good but again fsr 3.1 also doesn't look good even on higher resolution so i do not know what to do I'm rly confused. I just want your personal tastes here

DLSS Version Confusion?

I always get confused when Nvidia says this. Does it means it launches with 4.5 or I need to force 4.5 in app?

Bad stuttering on good PC FH6 (AMD)

Hey all, playing the early release for FH6 and the frametimes are a mess. I’ve updated my drivers, capped my framerate, cleared shader cache. Nothing seems to work. Game stutters really bad, especially going across the map.

I have a 9070xt, 9800x3d, game is on an ssd with 32gb ram. Spent $130 to play this early and I’m disappointed. Even on 60 fps capped, high priority, latest drivers, CPU 0 disabled, NOTHING fixes it.

Is this something the devs will fix? Even on the lowest settings there is some noticeable stutter. I remember FH4 having flawless frametimes. How have we gotten to this point?

Should I disable windows anti-virus if I use pc mostly for gaming, time pass and some professional work like music production using lmms?

Essentially, I'm on a journey of pc optimization, reached it's final stage of simple but major tweaks that eliminate system wide latency. Upon calypto's suggestion to disable anti virus in his latency guide which is recommended by many in the community, I tried it myself and saw noticable improvement.

I would simply buy a new pc and wouldn't need to tweak my laptop but high hardware prices due to AI is not a option for me.

Edit: By time pass I mean watching youtube, reading online guides etc. Pretty much anything that doesn't need downloading anything. Also I don't aim to release my music into public. Ignore the "professional work" wording.

A tool you can use to disable Steam's UI (which is a browser) when you launch a game for performance gains

Since Steam has removed the -no-browser option, we now need a program to disable Steam's CEF/Chromium Embedded Framework to save RAM and CPU resources. The Steam Client runs multiple instances of the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) in the background, essentially keeping several Chrome tabs open just to display your library. This lightweight program adds a tray icon that lets you choose between having the Steam UI on or off when you have a game running, which lets you have it on when you need it, and off when you don't need it. The performance impact of this program will probably be more noticeable on people with lower end hardware, nevertheless its still useful if you like optimizing your system resource usage by not running needless things in the background. The original repository created by Aetopia was recently archived and is no longer being maintained, so I’ve forked it to keep the functionality alive and make some quality-of-life improvements, although the original one still worked when I last tested it.

It is open source code and the pre-built binaries are available here. Build instructions are also included if you wish to build it yourself.

Feel free to request any features or report issues through GitHub, and I would appreciate any stars :).

Why fighting games take SO MUCH SPACE??

I really can't figure how MK11, MK1 or Tekken 8 require more GB than Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring or The full Halo: Masterchief Collection.
Do fighting game devs don't know how to optimize their games or I'm the one asking stupid questions?

DLDSR instead of TAA for older games in 4K - results are astonishing, DLAA 4.5 M level :)

This topic is related to older games, that allows you to turn off the TAA in game. Yep, I am FULLY aware that it is a dying breed, but we all have a lot of such games that we love and cherish. And I am NOT talking about forcing TAA OFF via various hacks (including HEX hacks), that can ruin rendering in various ways.

As a example, I tested it in the MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA game and omg, I am blown away by the result. I encourage you to test it with your own eyes and for other games, guys, it is like looking at the remastered game :) I know, that the DLDSR is known and used for years. I encourage you for using it, starting from 4K resolution, which is rather uncommon.

Fair warning: it seems that to maintain acceptable FPS while having DLDSR 1,75 on 4K monitor, you need to have at least Nvidia 5070 Ti card. But I think it strongly depends on the game.

The short procedure is as follows:

+ set up Nvidia's DLDSR 1.75x

Remember, we are talking about 4K monitors, so even DLDSR 1.75 requires running the game in 5120x2880 virtual resolution; I tested DSR 4x and DLDSR 2.25x as well; DSR 4x was too muddy and an FPS killer at the same time, even for the RTX 5090; DLDSR 2,25 was still too slow from the FPS point of view and the difference between DLDSR 2,25x and 1,75x were minimal and not easily observed; I tested increasing the render resolution to 200% in-game, the result was underwhelming and and jaggies were very pronunced; so it seems that that DLDSR does a really good AA job here

+ start the old game, that allows you to toggle TAA, using 4K native resolution, all the setting graphics maxed, and with TAA set to on firstly

+ just play that game for some time, to acclimatize with the plain old TAA, before saying it goodbye for good

+ then pause the game, change the resolution to DLSDSR 1,75x (5120x2880) and turn off the TAA

+ prepare to be amazed :)

Now, for the FIRST time in your life, you will see the game in it intended glory :) Pay particular attention to texture details (on suits, armors, floors and walls), particles (including dust), the lighting :) The effecs is similar to running the DLAA 4.5 M instead of the TAA.

I know the technical reasons behind the TAA, but seeing now exactly HOW BUTCHERED ALL the TAA processed games were for so many years makes me sad. Fortunately, not anymore! :)

DLAA with slower FPS is better than TAA Low with higher FPS or resolution [4K]

Just to let you know that knowing from Digital Foundry TAA video (2024), that the TAA Native works the better the higher FPS is, I tested it against DLAA 4.5 M (which obviously is also native) in the Dead Space Remake game.

[Reminder: I am talking here about the new game example, that as usual doesn't allow us to turn off AA in the game. You can only switch to DLSS [incl. DLAA], FSR [incl. FSR Native], or XeSS. And I don't want to hack a game to turn off its anti aliasing against the developers' implementation]

By choosing one game supporting both the TAA and the DLAA, I wanted to verify if the TAA can be improved on the best possible GPU (RTX 5090) to the level of the DLAA through the available methods, that is, via increasing FPS or via increasing resolution.

The result still tells us the sad story: despite AVG 138 FPS in TAA Low Native 4K mode, the DLAA 4.5 M 4K mode with AVG 100 FPS still produces better clarity IN MOTION!

Specifically, very thin objects like distant red wires just "vanish" during movement when in the TAA Low mode, while they are present in the DLAA mode. When there is no motion, the resentations are almost identical - some bright objects are brighter in the DLAA 4.5 M mode due to the better light processing in the DLSS 4.5 vs plain old TAA light processing.

Addendum: I wondered if the increased resolution would solve this issue, as it was suggested in the video mentioned. So I tested DLDSR 1.75 [starting from 4K] TAA Low against DLAA 4.5 M 4K [Native] and it was a double defeat: TAA Low had still worse motion clarity and this time it had worse FPS as well (AVG 60 FPS for TAA Low against AVG 100 FPS for the DLAA).

There you have it ;)
