Creep at the Oshawa Centre Bus Terminal

Im sharing this to hopefully help other young women who may frequently use this bus terminal. I use this terminal every day to commute to and from work, and a few weeks back I decided to sit down on the benches near the wall/mall side of the terminal. On the other bench was a tall black man with dreads dressed in sweatpants with a few grocery bags by his side. He tried initiating conversation with me despite me ignoring him and having airpods in. When i didnt answer, he got louder and actually got up to sit directly beside me. He started asking me a bunch of really personal and invasive questions and when i told him i was only 19 (he was in his 40s) his reply was “age is just a number” and “try dating an experienced man… ill treat you right” despite me being visibly uncomfortable and not interested. He eventually forced me to give him my phone number (he would not leave me alone until i put a number in his phone. He literally forced his phone in my hands) of course I gave him a fake number. Thankfully before things got any worse my bus showed up, but i fear for what would have happened if it was any later. I completely avoid that side of the terminal now, but i still see him sitting there every single day. He shouted me down at one point, trying to get me to come over to him, but i just walked faster. If you are a young woman who travels alone and uses this terminal, please be careful and do not engage with this man !!! He will not leave you alone.

Looking to start a Durham Film Group

Hey everyone! I’m looking to see if there are people around Durham Region who would be interested in starting a small, collaborative short-film/media group.

The idea is pretty simple: a group where everyone helps everyone.

The goal would be to:

  • 🎬 Bring our own scripts and ideas to life as a team
  • 🎭 Help each other improve our acting and performance
  • ✍️ Workshop and improve each other’s scripts
  • 📹 Learn filmmaking, cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, etc. together
  • 🎥 Make short films/skits regularly and actually finish them
  • 🌟 Give everyone opportunities to act, direct, write, film, edit, or whatever they’re interested in
  • 🤝 Build each other up rather than compete with each other

I’d also like the group to have shared access to the social media/accounts and content, so nobody ever feels like “I’m just being used as a free actor for someone else’s project.”

If you write a script, we all work together to make it.

If someone wants to try directing, we give them a chance.

If someone wants to act but has never done it before, we help them improve.

Basically, everyone gets their turn.

I’m not looking for experienced actors or filmmakers. Honestly, I think it would be more fun if we’re all learning and improving together.

Genre-wise, I’m personally really interested in horror, suspense, comedy, and thriller, but I’m open to pretty much anything.

Ideally this would be people around Durham Region / Oshawa / Whitby / Bowmanville / Clarington, but I’m open to anyone nearby who’s willing to participate.

If this sounds interesting, comment or DM me. Even if you’re just curious, feel free to reach out. Maybe we can actually build something pretty cool together. 🎬

Does anyone remeber the pool Hall on Celina St?

There used to be a really crappy dive pool hall located at 60 Celina.

Does anyone remember it? We used to hang out there pretty much every day in 95 - 97.

Got robbed a few times?

Oshawa/toronto help me!

Does anybody know a Sally Gamache of Oshawa or have any information? Around 45 yrs old. She has quite a few kids that I know of. Buddy of mine introduced me to her a couple months ago. We started talking all was good, seemed like a nice lady looking for a man. Anyways I ended up meeting her and trusting my buddy as he was the one to tell me all is good. I met with her a few times within a week time span before I headed back to work (work out of the city elsewhere so I’m always in and out) and I contracted !herpes! from this woman along with the big C. After I confronted her I lost all contact and she said if I contact her again she would send people after me. She had my address so I stopped. gave me sexual diseases and when I confront her I get threatened. Nice.

Protect Robinson Creek natural wetlands from development

Robinson Creek is an ecological treasure trove. It acts as a natural filter for the water, supports biodiversity, and provides a habitat for myriad birds, mammals, and amphibians. Development not only strips away these habitats but also places immense stress on the local ecosystem by diminishing water quality and increasing floods. Once such a wetland is destroyed, it can never truly be brought back to its original state.

To the guy at the harmony Walmart buying magic cards, I pulled the chase!

Sort of like a missed connections moment but I was at the harmony Walmart buying pokemon cards and had to wait a HOT second for the case. Chatted with a fellow card enjoyer and he wished me luck on my pulls. Despite the fact it was only 3 boosters I pulled the chase card. He may be a luck wizard… hope you pulled some good stuff too!!!

No more coffee downtown anymore

Really wish someone would open up a quick and dirty coffee shop downtown to replace the ones that closed.

I had to catch a bus at King and Simcoe this morning and couldn't get a coffee between Simcoe and Mary, or between Bond and Athol. Isabella's is gone, coffee culture is gone, timmies is gone, and Cork and Bean only serves espresso now. They offered me an Americano but no thank you, Pepsi is not okay.

I miss being able to get a quick drip brew coffee for $2 on the way to work. Anyone wanna reopen Crack Time? Might still be a market for it.
