I was a victim of wage theft. Please sign my petition (e-7842) sponsored by MP Don Davies to criminalize it!

Hi everyone,

Search my name Zikun Xu and you can find the CBC news article, I am personally a victim of corporate wage theft. The current civil system completely fails workers—bad bosses ignore Ministry of Labour orders and face zero real consequences while stealing our hard-earned money.

Civil remedies are broken. We need criminal law.

I’ve launched official Parliamentary Petition e-7842 to bring back the Criminal Code provisions that make deliberate wage theft a criminal offense. I am incredibly grateful that NDP MP Don Davies has stepped up to officially sponsor this petition.

If you believe exploitative employers belong in criminal court, please sign and share. Any Canadian citizen or resident (including PR and work permits) can sign!

Solidarity forever! ✊

PROTECT WORKERS’ RIGHT TO STRIKE

The federal government has introduced a bill that could give it new powers to end legal strikes and weaken workers’ bargaining power, making it easier for companies to keep wages low and harder for you to push back. Make your voice heard: Tell your MP to protect workers’ right to strike and stand together.

Funeral Home Fire

McIntosh Anderson Kellam Funeral Home has just suffered a terrible fire. Family members on the road had contacted me this morning to say that they could hear the sirens and smell the smoke.
My prayers are with all the families that would be impacted by the disruption this will cause to their families funeral services.

Need all you help Oil Ownership

HF Sinclair has not **announced a sale of the Mississauga refinery site**.
We have some quick time to act.

What has been announced is the **shutdown of base-oil refining operations by 2027** at the Mississauga Lubricants Centre, formerly known as the Clarkson Oil Refinery. The facility produces about **15,600 barrels of base oil per day** and is Canada’s largest base-oil producer.

The site itself is expected to remain partly operational. HF Sinclair plans to retain:

- Lubricant blending and packaging
- Research and development
- Supply-chain and logistics operations
- Commercial activities

The plant will use imported base oils from around the world and sell it under the false assumption of Canada processed and material supplied from other facilities rather than refining base oil in Mississauga. Approximately **250 unionized workers** are represented at the site, though the company has not yet specified the number of jobs that could be affected.

The property was previously sold in **2016**, when Petro-Canada/Suncor transferred the operation to HollyFrontier, which later became HF Sinclair. There are currently no disclosed plans to sell or redevelop the 427-acre property.

"Every truck, every train, every mine and every factory in this country runs on lubricants," said Unifor Ontario Regional Director Samia Hashi.  "Skilled Canadians built this plant's safety record and its reputation, and they are being told their work is being shipped out of the country. Ontario workers are paying for a decision that makes this country less secure."

Let’s contact the minister and the PM to preserve this vital process, it should never have been sold to American energy corporations. #CanadasTime

A home on Wilson road north just north of Hillcroft had major police presence this week.
A good 8-10 cop cars, no news on this incident.
Any insights?

We are excited for this next chapter but there's some work ahead of us as we prepare to welcome our children and families at the new location for the beginning of August. We would put our winnings toward building renovations and upgrades and playground upgrades. Thanks for voting for us and for all of your support. What is going on in Oshawa today? Police are out all across the city, and some hanging out on corners. Along with the Satans Choice riding up the roads. Is it a funeral precession?
