I blew up ten Juno’s for your entertainment.

Listen, I love Juno, she’s my favourite character in the game and she’s just so adorable, but she gets too much attention. Like, what about Zarya or Baptiste? They’re starving for acknowledgment!

Update: I just realized this is actually 11 Juno’s. I thought it was ten, and I only intended for there to be ten of her, but I must’ve accidentally added an eleventh one.

Which Legacy Characters have kits that you think wouldn't fly if released today?

Title. Any characters kits, abilities, ultimates etc that have been around for a long time that you think, if released today, would cause outrage or demand a rework?

Credit where it's due - the Meka event is one of their better-designed ones in terms of pacing and rewards

Blizzard definitely took feedback onboard from other past recent events.

I find the Meka event (including the prestige track) very comfortably completable in the 3-ish weeks we are given. And it's not like we need to grind out every challenge every day in order to complete it.

There isn't any: "oops, you missed a few days, or you missed one challenge, now you can't complete everything" like with some previous events.

It's pretty refreshing to not feel stressed about 'bricking' myself in terms of progress on the event tracks.

Overwatch has the best competitive experience in gaming

League of Legends (top emerald)

cons:

  1. Low skill ceiling for mechanical skill expression

  2. Bad meta imo (roaming supports, ranged top, mage bot, tank neutralizer lanes top)

  3. Overall top role is low agency and aggression is punished as a result of the meta. Not dying is usually winning. Top is at its best imo when its a duel lane against two melee's that have dynamic trade patterns. This usually means that the champ has long and short trades. On top of this flex picks make draft especially annoying at higher elos.

  4. Long match lengths cause player frustration resulting in toxicity

  5. Toxicity is meme-ified so players will casually flame lowering match quality

  6. Encyclopedic knowledge required to reach high rank (This is a pro depending on disposition maybe)

pros:

  1. Exceptional skill ceiling in terms of game to game variance (due to cast size, items, runes, summoners, role variation, etc.). Adaptability is very thereby very rewarded.

  2. Game is generally balanced patch-to-patch. Players can always pick up a meta champ, but mastery is incredibly important in league due to game to game variance. Any way you can control against variance helps you very much.

  3. Character designs are top tier usually

Deadlock:

Cons:

  1. In open beta currently. (stale meta, poor balance, bugs)

  2. FPS MOBA can be overwhelming (I know overwatch is considered a moba as well, but im talking about having lane assignments and a jungle)

  3. Long match lengths can lead to fatigue and some (but less than league) player frustration

  4. Ranked system is not good imo (too grindy as a result of overdone derank protection). you can climb with a 50% winrate currently.

Pros:

  1. High mechanical skill Ceiling

  2. High Macro skill ceiling

  3. Very positive community

  4. Incredible (my favortie) Character designs.

  5. The game feels like a tug of war rather than a stomp or be stomped ON AN INDIVIDUAL PLAYER level. League is a tug of war as well, but you dont feel that as the individual player. Basically its very hard to be completely shut out of the game.

  6. Has good culture with in game voice.

Apex (solo/duo): (roughly 2.5k hours never grinded past diamond as I'd prefer to play games with my irl friends and they would get too frustrated to want to grind)

Pros:

  1. Highest individual mechanical agency imo out of all the games here (barring widowmaker maybe)

  2. Roller recently nerfed by 4% accuracy on average.

  3. Immersive world

  4. Incredible art team

  5. Middling game to game variance. (could be in con)

  6. VERY VERY LOW PLAYER FRUSTRATION (ur dead go next)

Cons:

  1. recent character designs (specifically gameplay) less appealing.

  2. balance team decisions often highly questionable throughout the years.

  3. Ranked is mostly grind and playing with good stacks rather than skill.

  4. Bad conditions for mechanical skill development due to tempo of battle royale.

  5. Lowest room for macro/strategical outplay.

  6. Not the best anti-cheat at times though things have improved considerably over the years. (destroyer 3000)

  7. High visual clutter nowadays.

  8. Bloodhound rework was poorly received immediately and remains to have little play at all ranks.

Overwatch: currently playing in emerald as soldier76 and climbing quickly (solo mostly some duo with a tank)

Pros:

  1. Appears to me as the most objectively balanced and subjectively fair.

  2. Very low player frustration (short match lengths and generally positive community).

  3. Currently feels fresh with dmon, schion, anran, cat, domini, frieja, and hat guy.

  4. Good net code (league client and apex netcode/tickrate)

  5. Good anti-cheat

  6. High game to game variance as a newer player or if you swap heroes

  7. Low visual clutter (except anran imo)

  8. Best balancing act addressing the pro to plat one patch dillema imo

Cons:

  1. Could still be stale for long time players.

  2. Sierra.

  3. Personally not a fan of the skins for solider idk genuinely this section is hard to fill out.

Why is "It's just Quick Play" treated as a be-all and end-all excuse?

We all have bad days or matches where we're just not on top of our game, and in these cases, yeah, it's just quick play, no big deal - But lately I've seen so many people reply "it's just qp" in response to someone clearly and intentionally throwing a match by feeding or sitting AFK in spawn, etc. and all seems to be forgiven.

Hell, a few games ago a player in my lobby blatantly admitted to feeding while claiming "It's just qp" and half the lobby agreed?

In these situations, I don't feel like that's a valid excuse. Sure, it's not comp, but shouldn't there still be some effort to try and, y'know, win the game? AITA here?

Bro thinks he is part of the team

Does anyone know who this King guy is? From his description he seems like a DPS character.

Edit: I have come around on rein he should move up one. And I have realized I may be blinded by Junos kind voice when she says hello to me 😔

Tierlist of Heroes' Smells

How I feel like the Overwatchian Heroes smell like.

I'm open for your personal takes tho.

AND BEFORE SOMEONE OBJECTS ON THE GENJI ONE, it is canon, there's an interaction between him and Soj that confirms IT. Edit: I'm sorry to disappoint y'all, but the list isn't really organised... The first two are the only organized ones.

Are there anymore playable events?

So, I'm seriously asking. I've been away from the game for a very long time and been back a little before Shion.

I think it's cool that the lore is more involved now. We got comics, animated clips, build up, follow up, rewards etc. but are any events playable? Like the Blackwatch event? That was so cool to me. There were skins linked to the event, story and pve events. Wasnt even that expensive or elaborate, it reused a stage, gave us simple goals and I enjoyed it.

Do events like these still rotate around? Like the seasonal events? Or have the comics, collab and character tie in challenges completely replaced? (Also please tell me the playable Halloween event still happens )

The Hazard Cute Spray Changes Are Night and Day

This patch they changed the requirements for Hazard's cute spray from dealing 750 damage in a single block to dealing 400 and the difference is insane. This achievement went from borderline impossible to able to complete casually.

Hazard's block does 70dps and uses 40% meter per second which gives him a maximum duration of 2.5 seconds, so previously you'd need to continuously hit 6 players for 1.8 seconds, or 5 players for 2.1 seconds, or the myriads of values and players in-between. 4 players or less isn't enough damage (although 4 is just short so if you had a 5th player slip in for a quarter second or so it'd be just enough).

Now that it's only 400 it's drastically easier. 6 players is 0.9 seconds, 5 players is 1.1, 4 players (which, again, this and any lower number of players would be impossible before) is 1.4, and 3 players is 1.9. Now 2 players are the highest amount outside of the range, and it's not by a lot either, so a 3rd player could be included for a moment and still reasonably hit the requirement.

This effectively halves the ludicrous difficulty from before where'd you'd practically be limited to either stadium block builds or a zarya grav. Now it's reasonable to get this in regular play.

(also lmk if my math is wrong thanks)

Ana and mercy always get priority protection. Always.

If you’re a supp player that knows how to keep me alive when shit gets dicey, I’m hard pocketing you no questions asked. Much love to all the smart supp mains out there, you guys are what make the game playable 🫶🏼
