A local “Fight Ford” demonstration is being organized in Owen Sound on Saturday, May 30 at 9:00 AM outside Paul Vickers’ constituency office.

Over the past few months, communities across Ontario have been organizing demonstrations to speak out on issues like healthcare privatization, environmental destruction, affordability, education cuts, transparency, and the overall direction of the province.

People from across Grey-Bruce have been getting involved, and new faces are absolutely welcome. This is intended to be a peaceful, community-focused demonstration with no expectation other than showing up and standing together with others who care about the future of Ontario.

Signs will be available, and people are also welcome to bring their own.

📍 Outside Paul Vickers’ constituency office 📅 Saturday, May 30 🕘 9:00 AM

Feel free to invite anyone else who may be interested.

Can you help!

Hello people of Owen Sound!

I write to you in need of help! My friend 37(f) lives in Owen Sound, her birthday is coming up and I want to send her for some sort of relaxing experience to celebrate as I won’t be able to be with her I would like it to be a nice spot she can relax; maybe somewhere with saunas and hot tubs type thing? I found the salt cave Kokoro and that seemed to be something considering but it does seem shut down currently. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Goods Exchange weekend

Went for a walk in my neighborhood. Haven't seen much yet. Someone put a bunch of garbage out for people to look at and old prescription drugs.

Anyone find anything good?

Ray Botten Says Mayoral Run Aims to Raise Awareness About Drug Trafficking Concerns

At Owen Sound Council this Monday, I spoke with Ray Botten as he was preparing to put his name forward for mayor.

Botten said his campaign is focused on raising public awareness about what he described as drug trafficking and drug cartel activity in Owen Sound. He said his motivation is simple: to help save lives.

Thief steals from farm stand, twice in one day.

If anyone knows who this is, I urge you to report her. She wasn’t stealing from a large corporation, she stole from a family trying to make an honest living.

You could report to crime stoppers and make some money if she is arrested because of your tip.

Where can I buy sweetbreads in small quantity?

Been calling around and no one seems to have it or if they know someone who can get it its by special order and in large quantities. Frustrating. That and Divers scallops. Impossible to find. Howells in Wiarton can order them but its only on a specific day and when they're out they're out. Also canoe cut bone marrow? All I've seen is soup bones 😭 I mean they work-ish but its annoying.

Cardboard drop off

Where can I bring cardboard for recycling? I’ve read through the site descriptions for Miller’s and on the Owen Sound waste collection pages and not seeing any references to drop off locations. Thanks!

Sheep Thrills in Town

Small stock, big question: Does anyone know where you can get boneless lamb or goat in town?

Forced to make my own curry since PK's closed.

*Edit: Ideally Goat since I assume its cheaper.

Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force Meeting Held On - Council Meeting - Regular Agenda Preview - May 11, 2026

On May 11, 2026 at 5:30 PM, Council will consider committee minutes documenting that Grey Bruce is confronting a severe food crisis where one in five households faced food insecurity recently, driven by a living wage of $24.60 that falls short of covering rising operational costs.
https://helpos.ca/c/owen-sound-council/7570/bruce-grey-poverty-task-force-meeting-held-on-council-meetin
Free meal programmes are under immense strain, serving 42% more meals in March 2026 alone, yet hidden expenses like fuel and utilities threaten to shift financial burdens to consumers.

Council will also receive correspondence regarding VON Week for informational review. Additionally, the agenda includes discussion on authorising a new By-law Enforcement Student, Stephen Thaiyil, hired in April 2026, to support regulatory compliance until August 28, 2026, using existing budget allocations.

Staff will present a report proposing amendments to remove the County of Wellington as a party to the Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) funding agreement, a procedural step following the March 31, 2026 expiration of prior arrangements that does not alter the agreement’s terms or funding levels.
